Masaki rubs his head. He hit it while he was falling down. For a few minutes he is just lying on the ground, heart racing and body shaking, until he realized he can still move all limbs. Well, his leg hurts a bit. And he also realizes that he can still stand up, and he is alive. Still he is in big troubles it seems.
He gets up on his legs, still shaking, feeling his surroundings, it’s dark and only some moonlight comes through. The walls around him feel soft and slightly humid. So, he really dropped into a hole in the ground. A single glance upwards tells him he is probably three to four metres below the ground. Around him there is a little space of maybe two metres. He touches the walls, maybe there are roots from trees or anything he can pull himself up with again. But nothing.
He jumps a bit, trying to reach something above him, but his left leg feels unusually wobbly, and it has troubles carrying his weight. He resumes to calling out loud, but of course that’s in vain too. He is in a fucking forest, in the middle of the night, in the middle of nowhere. His only comfort is that he knows at one point Satoshi, Jun and maybe also Nino will come looking for him.
Everything because his mind went basically blank and he had to kiss Nino. He sighs deeply, now that the initial first shock wore off, he feels even more stupid. Not only did he kiss his best friend, he also ran away instead of just finding an excuse or explain things (and then make up an excuse) or simply apologize. Nino is his best friend. If he would just dump him, because Masaki liked him, he wouldn’t be his best friend.
He should have had more faith in him.
“…-ki…”
Masaki blinks. Weird, he might have hit his head harder than he thought. It’s like he hears Nino’s voice.
“M…ki…”
Wow, hallucination?
“MA…S… KI!?” A pause. “Wh…re… you… mon…key?
Masaki’s eyes widen. Wait a moment, that sounds too real and slightly too insulting for it to be a dream. “KAZU!?” he blurts out, running to the middle of the hole. “I’M HERE! KAZU!”
He hears some sounds, and resumes to calling out loud. Then something else hits him… tiny stones, the ground is shaking slightly. “DON’T RUN TOO FAST!” he yells. “A HOLE! THERE IS A HOLE!”
Nino squeals, and a few more stones and leaves drop down on Masaki before Nino swiftly follows. Masaki reaches out his hands, catching him before he can drop down on the hard ground like he did. It ends up with him lying on his back, Nino’s elbow against his right hip, and his chin hitting his forehead. They both moan in pain, until Nino rolls to the side. For a moment they look at each other, then they burst into giggles.
“Great,” Nino snorts. “Here goes my plan to rescue you.”
“Thanks for searching for me though,” Masaki says silently.
“Of course I searched for you,” Nino huffs before dropping down on his back next to Masaki. “Say, why did you kiss me?”
“I’m so sorry about that,” Masaki bows his head deeply. He sits up now, looking down at his friend. “I know I kind of attacked you. But I like you, and it kinda overwhelmed me. You know after we set up Sa-chan and Jun-san, and the whole atmosphere… I went with the flow. Of course it was all in my head. And I know that you don’t like me that way, which is why I’m sorry! I wanted to confess to you first.”
“But you did,” Nino adds quietly, stretching slightly before he gets up in a sitting position as well.
“Confess to you?” Masaki blinks. “No, unfortunately not.”
“No, I mean you went with the flow.” Nino sighs. “It’s not just in your head.”
Masaki looks at him for a while, in disbelief first, before it suddenly dawns on him. “Does this mean…?” he blurts out “And you are sure you don’t like Satoshi?”
“One hundred percent certain,” Nino smiles. “Or I wouldn’t have had that much fun setting him up with Sensei. That these two are together now… doesn’t do anything to me. But when I thought you liked Jun-san, I was pissed as hell.”
“Really?” Masaki asks happily. “This is not how imagined this moment to be though…”
“You mean being stuck in a hole in the ground was not on your top list?”
“Well, you know… at least we won’t ever forget it?” Masaki grins.
Nino smirks. “Right. A good story to tell.” He wraps his left arm around Masaki’s hips, slipping closer. Masaki’s heart jumps in joy, a fuzzy feeling filling his chest and stomach. He has never believed that Nino would return his feelings. How lucky is he!? He can’t believe it! Well, he is still stuck in a hole in the ground, so… relatively lucky.
“When do you think will they look for us?” Masaki wants to know.
Nino groans. “Depends on if they have sex today and for how long. Satoshi looks like he has quite some stamina.”
Masaki grimaces. “EW, don’t stay stuff like that about my brother when I’m here too.”
Nino chuckles, pulling at Masaki’s arm, until he bends forward into their first real kiss.
~~~
Jun is lying on the sofa, Satoshi hovering above him while straddling his hips. His lips are kissing him hungrily, sucking at his neck, and fingers wandering over his body to feel up every inch of it. Jun shivers. This is so intense. His heart feels like it’s bursting. He has never gotten intimate with someone who likes him back. Wow, realizing this now… it’s kinda sad.
“You are looking distracted again,” Satoshi chuckles. “Maybe I should put more effort into what I do?” he teases. “Tell me what you think?”
“I was just feeling… happy all of sudden,” Jun admits with a blush. “And lucky. I’ve never gotten close to someone who returns my feelings.”
Satoshi chuckles softly. “You are so adorable sometimes.”
Jun reaches out his arms, about to pull Satoshi into another kiss when the phone rings. Landline? They both blink in confusion. Satoshi frowns in annoyance, but Jun laughs slightly. “Go answer it, it might be important. Besides…” he smiles. “It’s not like we can do anything here with your brother and his friend just around the corner.”
“Right,” Satoshi smacks Jun’s hip softly. “More to look forward to when we are at home, and alone.”
With that he gets up, answering the phone. Jun rolls to the side, watching him. Satoshi looks fragile on first glance but without his shirt on it’s clear that he is a lot stronger than it looks from the outside. There are prominent abs gracing his stomach and he has quite some arm muscles. His shoulder blades move when he hangs up the phone, and Jun blushes by how hot he thinks his back looks. He can lean against Satoshi anytime, and rely on him. He knows that.
Satoshi looks a bit confused when he returns, and Jun sits up curiously.
“It was the neighbour. She said she went for a walk, and stumbled over a blanket, some food and two mobile phones. She said one of them has a phone cover with pink rabbit ears – that’s Masaki’s. She also said, she believes she saw someone running into the forest.”
Jun blinks. “What?”
“Maybe, she just imagined things?” Satoshi muses, but his forehead is furrowed in worry.
Jun smiles and shoves all selfish thoughts aside. This is more important. “Let’s take our jackets, a flashlight and look outside,” he offers.
Satoshi’s eyes widen. “Is this really okay for you? We still didn’t have our dessert…”
Jun chuckles, pecking Satoshi’s lips affectionately. “Let’s look for your brother and Ninomiya-kun first.”
~~~
It’s weird, he has no idea how much time passed. Minutes, hours. He doesn’t know. Nino leans back against the wall, looking up at the dark sky, wondering if someone is already looking for them. He knows at one point Satoshi and Jun will realize they are missing, they will hopefully also find their stuff at the beach and then start looking for them. It’s still going to be a longer wait though, he assumes, because they probably don’t know where to look.
Masaki has stretched out on the ground. The last hour they have tried to reach the surface. But Nino wasn’t strong enough, and Masaki’s leg hurt, so they had to give up.
“Don’t worry,” Masaki smiles at him, his head resting on Nino’s lap. “They will find us for sure. You don’t need to be afraid.”
Nino’s chest feels warm by Masaki’s words. Even now he tries so hard to make Nino feel at ease. Nino realizes suddenly how real Masaki is. How warm. He is just… real. In front of his inner eye he can suddenly imagine him as a school boy in primary school although he didn’t know him at that time, hair combed back, a bright smile on his face, yellow hat, walking to school with a schoolbag too big for him. He can see him as a high school student with his happy-go-lucky attitude, his bright smile, his warm charisma. As a young fashionable student, with low confidence concerning his studies, getting more serious, but still so warm-hearted and friendly. And suddenly Nino can also see him as an old man when his hair will be white and his skin will be wrinkled. That’s how real Masaki feels to him. He clings to him as the emotions overflow him. “I’m not afraid,” he whispers. “I just… want to be with you for as long as possible.”
Masaki smiles happily, and Nino is eternally thankful for the darkness around them. He is sure his expression would have given away how much he likes Masaki and how deep his feelings are. He doesn’t even mind anymore that they are stuck here. At least they are together.
A/N: Finally! Right? :-)
