“Ryo,” Yoko squealed in shock.

Ryo turned away a bit, apparently not wanting the other to see him or to say something. But Yoko wasn’t the type who would look away, hence he grabbed Ryo’s arm, pulling him back. “What happened?” His gaze shifted to Ryo’s wet and miserable figure, to his bruised face to his drained bag, before he looked at Kame, who was equally drained and wet from the rain right now.

When Ryo stayed quiet, Kame shifted around a bit. “Well,” he stuttered. “It’s difficult to explain.”

“My boy is hurt and drained.” Yoko cried out. “Now don’t tell me it’s difficult to explain!”

Kame frowned, thinking that this Yoko-guy was really over-dramatic, but then he sighed. Okay, maybe he wasn’t overly dramatic at all… maybe he was just concerned. “I don’t know exactly what happened.”  This was at least half the truth, because Kame only knew the things he had overheard himself. He didn’t know what had happened before.

Yoko grabbed two towels, handing one to Kame and throwing the other around Ryo to dry him a bit. “My idiot, I told you to tell me if something is off!” He turned around to face Kame again. “He was bullied?”

“Yes,” Kame said with a dry voice, hoping that Yoko wouldn’t make him repeat the mean things the guys had said. But apparently Yoko caught up pretty fast and had similar thoughts. He brushed through Ryo’s wet hair. “I won’t accept someone bullying you.” he added simply. “Guys from your school?” he wanted to know, looking at Kame again.

Kame nodded his head. “Yes.”

“Good.” Yoko frowned in determination, almost looking dangerous for a moment. “Then I know what I’ll do tomorrow…”

Kame looked at the other man in admiration. What an amazing guy. He was so caring and so straight-forward. Kame felt relieved that apparently Ryo had someone to hold on to, someone who would look after him.

Yoko pulled away a bit, taking Ryo’s bag. “Give me that. I’ll check on the books. Maybe you can still use them. Otherwise you can have my old school books. Don’t worry too much, alright?”

This time Ryo looked directly at him, almost looking relieved. “Thanks,” he answered silently, smiling warily

Yoko grinned. “What? Did you think I would scold you?” he poked Ryo’s forehead. “You are so silly sometimes.”

Ryo frowned grumpily at that, making Kame grin a bit. Yoko shifted his attention back to Kame. “And you are?” he asked.

“Kamenashi Kazuya,” Kame bowed politely.

Yoko smiled warmly. “And what’s your role in this story?”

Kame blushed a bit. “Well,” he paused, feeling obviously embarrassed.

“He saved me,” Ryo interrupted him.

Yoko blinked. “Is that true?” When he saw Kame blushing even further, he pushed Ryo into Kame’s direction. “Then say thank you properly!”

Ryo blushed deeply at that, before he bowed a bit. “Thank you,” he mumbled warily.

Yoko smiled contently, handing Ryo a second towel. “Now go and take a shower. You are freezing cold,” His gaze shifted to Ryo’s bruised face. “I’ll check on that later, okay?”

Ryo nodded his head, before he rushed away, apparently feeling relieved that the little dramatic scene was over. Kame shifted around a bit now that Yoko’s attention was fully lying on him.

“Thank you,” Yoko smiled warmly. “You are a gorgeous guy. It means a lot of courage to stop bullies.”

Kame blushed a bit. “It’s not that special…”

Yoko chuckled. “Of course it is.” He smiled, pointing at a door. “Here is the bathroom. You can take a shower there… You are also wet through and through after all.”

Kame blinked a bit. “Is that really okay?”

“Kamenashi-kun,” Yoko chuckled. “This here is an orphanage, a dormitory, not a poorhouse.”

“Sorry,” Kame stuttered.

Yoko smiled. “Thanks for saving him,” he told him again. “Ryo is like my little brother, it means a lot for me that you took the risk.”

“I…” Kame looked down at the floor. “I couldn’t walk away,” he mumbled.

“This reminds me of something,” Yoko frowned slightly. “What did they say?” he wanted to know, eyeing Kame piercingly. The latter sighed. Great. This was exactly what he had wanted to avoid here.

Kame knocked at Ryo’s door nervously. Yoko had sent him upstairs with two cups of hot tea for the both of them. After he had explained everything to Yoko, the latter had spent half an hour with ranting, before he had thanked Kame once more.

And now here he was…standing in front of Ryo’s door. And he didn’t even know what to do, what to say. Ryo had been so hurt and at the same time so angry… Kame sighed, realizing that he might have hurt him as well back then. He had never wanted to do that though, he just wanted to set things clear back then. He had never been good with people, it scared him to get to know new people and to interact with them. He was scared of being disappointed and hurt, of setting his hopes high and being left alone, like his parents did it with him.

But this time it was different. He didn’t know exactly why, but Ryo’s eyes had affected him somehow… and when he had pushed Ryo away when he handed him back his wallet, Kame had actually only defended the shell he was living in.

Now it was crumbling. He felt helpless watching how the pieces of this shell were washed away slowly, how it left him helpless and vulnerable. At the same time he had no idea how to handle Ryo.

When he heard Yoko’s steps in the corridor, Kame swallowed down his doubts and stepped into Ryo’s room. He had no motivation at all to get into another talk with the older one. After all Yoko was a bit dramatic.

“Hey,” he mumbled.

Ryo didn’t even look up. He was lying in his bed, curled up. At least he was dry now and seemed to be warm. Kame put the two cups on the table, shifting around a bit. Then he smiled sadly, wondering how it could happen that apparently someone else was feeling just as lost as he did.

Before he even realized what he was doing, Kame was already sitting down on Ryo’s bed, brushing over the other’s hair. Then he lay down next to him, pulling him into a soothing hug. “It’s okay,” He whispered, not sure himself what he meant, but he had just felt the urge to say it. “I won’t let them hurt you again.”

A/N: Sorry, rather short update. Though it's actually not that much shorter than the others. But I didn't have too much time this weekend! Hope you will like it nevertheless <3
