Dedicated to: sweetspicyhot. As a belated birthday present! I really really hope you will like this, my friend!

When Ryo came back home he found Yoko outside, taking the dry clothes from the clothesline. “Do you need help, Kimi-kun?”

Yoko smiled brightly. “No thanks. Had a nice walk?”

Ryo’s cheeks were red from the cold sea breeze, giving him a fresh healthy look – compared to his normally pale face. He nodded his head. “It’s always so peaceful to watch the ocean during autumn.”

Yoko nodded his head. “I understand what you mean, I guess.” He chuckled. “Or maybe I don’t get it at all, why you think of the rough waves as peaceful.” He smiled. “Talking about, your friend dropped by.”

“Who?” Ryo blinked.

“Kamenashi-kun. He is waiting for you. I think he just went down to the beach.”

Ryo frowned, trying to hide a blush. “He is not my friend…” he grumbled, wincing a bit when Yoko smacked him slightly. “Ouch!”

“Be nicer.” The older one scolded him a bit. “Apparently he really cares for you.” He grinned when he saw how Ryo’s flush increased. “He dropped by on purpose after all.” He grabbed Ryo’s shoulder, pushing him forward. “Now go and search him!”

Ryo decided that it was better not to argue with Yoko too much about this matter, otherwise he would get into danger to get scolded. He sighed a bit, trying to avoid the things his stomach was doing when he thought of Kame. He couldn’t get it out of his head anymore… how Kame jumped to his side to save him. Okay, the pink umbrella in his hands looked at bit funny, but still… other than that he had looked like a hero. And when he remembered how Kame hugged him later in his room, comforting him, it made Ryo blush all over again. This was the main reason why he wasn’t too eager to meet Kame here. He simply didn’t trust his own reactions and feelings.

He blinked when he reached the beach and found Kame immediately. He had taken his jacket off, because it was an almost warm day, and he was sitting on a rock, looking at the ocean thoughtfully.

“Hey,” Ryo mumbled when he approached Kame.

Kame almost jumped when he heard the other’s voice, feeling nervous immediately. He smiled a bit. “Hey Ryo-kun.”

Ryo tried not to look at Kame’s smile and sat down next to the other on the sand.

“The sand is cold.” Kame told him. “You can sit on the rock too. There is room enough for the both of us. Otherwise you might get a cold.”

Ryo looked at Kame both in embarrassment and wonder. “Why do you care out of a sudden?” he asked bluntly.

Kame smiled warily. “Still angry because of what I told you in school? When you found my wallet?”

“No. Why do you think I would care about that?” Ryo huffed.

“Wow.” Kame sighed. “You are able to hold a grudge for a long time, right?”

Ryo stayed quiet for a moment, wondering if it was true that he was still holding a grudge against Kame. He sighed slightly, maybe it was half of the truth. “I’m not really open towards people,” he explained. “Back then I had to gather all my courage to talk to you.”

Kame winced a bit.  “Sorry,” he mumbled silently. “I’m not really good with people. I don’t know… I always thought that it would be too bothersome to interact with them. When you get to know someone, there always come problems and other troubles. I don’t like that…”

Ryo sighed. “It’s not like I don’t understand… but that’s really stupid.”

“Hey!” Kame complained, smacking Ryo playfully.

The latter smiled. “I think your bigger problem is that you can’t walk away when you see a person in trouble, right?”

Kame shook his head. “I’m not sure if I’m that good-hearted.”

“It’s a wall,” Ryo admitted. “I have that too… But I think you are good-hearted.” He paused. “Thanks for saving me the other day,” he added nervously.

Kame felt so much joy about Ryo’s words that he totally forgot to be embarrassed. He just smiled happily. “Thanks for picking up my wallet.”

Ryo shook his head. “That’s nothing that you can compare with actually saving me.”

“I just was just lucky,” Kame admitted. “I mean… they knew me or rather my father and hence they were afraid.”

“Still you saved me,” Ryo repeated.

Kame blushed a bit. “It’s okay, really.” He looked down at his fingers. “Is it a problem?” he asked carefully. “That I’m…well… my parents…”

Ryo blinked at that, then he frowned angrily. “You mean if it’s a problem for me that you are wealthy?” He glared. “What do you think of me?”

“Sorry.” Kame stuttered.

“Yes,” Ryo grumbled. “Better be.”

Kame grinned slightly. “Wow, you really are the forgiving type of guy, right?” he asked sarcastically.

Ryo sighed at that. “I’m trying to change that… Kimi-kun helps me a bit…”

When Ryo mentioned Yoko’s name, Kame shifted around a bit, the questions he had since the day he saved Ryo were swirling around in his mind again. “Yokoyama-kun… and you…” he asked, trying not to sound too nervous. “Are you related? Or friends?”

Ryo smiled a bit. “He is like my brother. My parents died when I was quite young… then I came to an orphanage and they didn’t treat the kids well there… so they took the kids away from there and put them to other places. At the new place I met Kimi-kun… He immediately watched out for me.”

Kame blinked at that explanation, suddenly feeling glad that he had a family, even though it wasn’t a warm one, but still it was family. “And then?” he asked softly. “How come you are here now?”

“I’m a bit older now. And they allow the older kids to live in dormitories closer to the school they want to visit. So I came to this place.”

Kame blinked. “You purposely chose this place? Why?” he sounded seriously surprised. For him this place wasn’t all that special.

Ryo shifted around, not sure what to answer. Then he decided to go for half of the truth. “This place reminds me of something, that’s why I chose it.”

Kame looked at the other, wanting to ask more but when he saw how Ryo was tensing up, his fingers clenched to the trousers nervously, he decided not to ask more questions for today. He just smiled. “I understand.”

Ryo sighed in relief, not saying anything else. He only kept staring at the ocean, watching the huge waves smashing against the rocks. During summer the ocean and the beach were so attractive for everyone, but during autumn most people stayed away from it. Just Ryo loved it. It was wild and free and still beautiful.

He leaned back a bit, coincidentally brushing against Kame. For a moment Ryo blushed but when Kame put his arm around his shoulders it felt like the most normal thing on earth…
