“One day you are leaving me, aren't you?”
The look in Kame’s eyes is so uncertain that something inside Pi’s chest clenches painfully. He sits down next to Kame on their bed and takes his face between his hands, placing a kiss on his cheek first. Then one on his forehead. His nose.
“This is not an answer,” Kame complains.
Pi smiles and kisses Kame’s closed eyes. “It is.”
Pi knows that occasionally, during busier periods of the year, they hardly see each other. It’s these times that spark doubts and fears in them, but they are together for so long already that he can’t just get up and leave just because of such a miniscule reason. Only because they are overworked and tired.
“Let’s take a few days off,” Pi suggests.
Kame chuckles. “We can’t. The Christmas holidays are going to be crazy with the Countdown and concerts, and-”
“We can take off a weekend before that,” Pi interrupts him, sighing happily when Kame wraps his arms around his waist. “Go to a hot spring or visit your family. Your sister and her children.”
“Sounds nice,” Kame agrees. “Let’s do it.”
They both know that most likely, they won’t be able to take off during these busy weeks, but even talking about it and dreaming of it will help. Soon, the weeks will pass by and the long and lazy days of January will approach. They can fulfil these dreams then, visiting family, going to an onsen. It’s going to be so soon, even though it looks long.
It’s these thoughts and their faith in each other that make them continue together.
