Genre: romance, AU, bit mystery (?)
Plot: In a world in which it’s normal to educate poor boys and girls in all kind of subjects and later sell them as eloquent ‘partners’ (A/N: not necessarily sexual!) to rich and wealthy people once they are of age. Nino is one of those kids. Thanks to his abilities he has the highest price but fears that no one will ever buy him. One day though a rich guy named Matsumoto Jun buys him. When Nino leaves the facility he grew up in, he suddenly finds himself in a completely new life. And Jun is nothing he imagined. Why would a guy like him spend such a high sum to buy a partner when he could just find one anywhere? While Nino starts looking for answers, his heart goes its own way...
Note: This just had to turn into a Matsumiya fic :D It's not really all that angsty by the way, parts of it are pretty light.
Aiba goes from clinging to Nino’s to clinging to Ohno-san’s neck. Ohno, Jun’s friend, has a calming soothing aura, doesn’t seem to give a care about how he appears to the outside and just does his thing. Nino likes him immediately. And unlike when he is with Jun, he can talk and joke with him without blushing.
There is something that irks him though, something about Aiba and Ohno. He can’t quite put the finger on it yet… until he finally realizes it a few days later when Ohno and Jun decide to have a barbecue. Jun being the perfect cook he is, has banned them all from touching the meat. Hence they settle for making salad. It’s then that Nino sees Aiba and Ohno exchange a kiss, and Aiba giggles happily.
Oh my…. FUCK! Really? Aiba has gotten that far already!? When Nino sees his happy expression, he feels relieved and sad at the same time. Stupid envy, really. The thing is that Aiba was never trained for being seductive. He had other strong abilities, while Ken-san decided that Nino could basically get whoever he wants. And now they are here, and Aiba apparently successfully won Ohno’s heart, while up to now Jun only took his hand once. Hello stupid destiny! For a tiny moment he wonders though when the hell he decided to win Jun over? Wasn’t that the last thing he wanted originally? He shoves this embarrassing thought aside for now.
When Jun and Ohno are chatting over their barbecue, Nino decides it’s about time to pull Aiba to the side and talk to him. Curiosity definitely won over his embarrassment. “How did you do it?” he whispers.
“Do what?” Aiba wants to know as he grabs a glass with cherry juice.
“Get Ohno-san!”
“Oh.” Aiba’s eyes light up. He giggles. “I’m not sure if I got him… or if he got me. He is so cute, isn’t he?” He pokes Nino with his elbow and points at Ohno, who scratches the back of his head while he laughs about something Jun has said. Yeah, he is somehow cute, Nino has to agree. Nothing compared to Jun’s dazzling way of smiling though – that is truly adorable – and his cute moles like the one right below his lips and... Nino blushes.
“Uh,” Aiba makes. “Your face… Don’t tell me you and Matsumoto-san…”
“No,” Nino huffs.
“Why not?” Aiba blinks. “You seem to be totally hot for him. Why don’t you go for him?”
Why? Well… Nino sighs deeply. “He doesn’t seem to be interested. Or…well… I don’t know… he just doesn’t touch me.”
“Did you try for real to seduce him?” Aiba wants to know.
“You know, he only came home a few weeks ago. And he is super-respectful and all… On occasion I tried to give him some signs, and he seems to notice, but nothing… What about you and Ohno-san?”
“Oh, it was pretty easy and natural,” Aiba muses. “The third day he asked if he could paint me while I’m playing with the animals, because I’m so cute and lovable. So, one thing led to another, and I kissed him…”
“Did you sleep with him?”
“Of course,” Aiba chirps and grabs Nino’s hand excitedly. “It’s so wonderful, Kazu-chan! I never imagined that sex could be so good! When I came to this place I was actually very scared and all, but Oh-chan told me from the beginning that he didn’t buy me to own me, he bought me to set me free. So I’m free to do and go to wherever I want. Of course I had to fall for him after such an announcement,” Aiba giggles. “And he is so cute and friendly, and natural – did you know he likes the sea and fishing? - I just am really attracted to him. And you know, once I feel something I just go with my instincts. Oh man, I could sleep with him all day long…”
Nino stares at his friend for a long while. It makes sense, in a weird twisted way. Aiba doesn’t overthink anything – it’s part of his charm. “Why did he buy you if he didn’t want to own you?”
“Matsumoto-san asked him to.”
Nino almost spits out his drink in surprise, “What!?”
Aiba slips a bit closer. “Top-secret, Kazu. You won’t tell it anyone, right? Not even Matsumoto-san?”
Nino nods. Of course not.
“Matsumoto-san told you too, right? That you can do whatever you want? That he doesn’t own you?”
Again, Nino nods. Indeed Jun said something like that, and it sounds completely illogical to Nino’s ears. Why would someone buy a partner, if he didn’t want to own him?
“Apparently Matsumoto-san had specific reasons for buying you. It seems he was searching for you, ready to pay anything to set you free,” Aiba continues. “And he wanted to make sure you are happy and relieved, so he did tons of research on you, about the things you like and stuff like that. He also found out that I’m your best friend, which is the reason he asked Ohno-san to buy me free. He even paid most of the prize for me. Just for you to make you happy.”
Nino looks at Aiba in utter surprise. “You’re kidding!?”
“Not at all. Oh-chan told me all about it.”
“But why did he look for me?” Nino asks curiously. “I mean, from the first moment I saw him, I knew that he didn’t need to buy a partner. He has tons of friends, he doesn’t seem to be the normal customer at all. Also his subordinates are extremely friendly and respectful towards me like it’s normal for me to be around. I don’t get it.”
“I don’t know. That’s that only part Oh-chan didn’t tell me. Maybe he doesn’t know for sure either. He just knows that Matsumoto-san had his reasons.” Aiba looks at the two men at the barbecue thoughtfully. “It’s kinda cool and mysterious right? I think they are both really nice.”
“I guess so too…”
“So how is he?” Aiba wants to know.
“Well, he is very attentive and caring. And he likes to cook. And he makes me feel so comfortable, he seems to really try to make me feel good. He likes weird action movies, and he even plays some racing games with me on the ten consoles he bought – he said he didn’t know which one I like, so he bought them all. He can keep up with my sarcasm, he is a tease himself, he can even be a little prick sometimes, and he can be a cute dork too. He’s natural with me, like he is truly happy that I’m here. And he is, well…” Nino blushes slightly. How should he continue? Thankfully Aiba helps him out.
“Hot?” Aiba chuckles. “Very hot? Extremely hot? Gigantomatic hot?”
Nino grins. “Exactly. And believe me, the sight beneath his shirt is also very promising. I saw him with a towel only once.”
“And you like him?” Aiba asks. Nino shrugs, and Aiba nods happily like he saw more than Nino wanted to give away. “Good, then go for it!”
It’s been two months since then and Ken has checked in on him just like he’d said he would, glad that Nino was doing well. However, it’s been also two months in which Jun hasn’t laid a finger on him. Not even one tiny fingertip. Fuck it. Is that normal? Maybe Jun has a mysterious illness?
There are several reasons why Nino decides that he just needs to get Jun to do him. First of all, it’s unbelievable that Aiba lost his virginity before he did. Now he needs to catch up and learn many different kinky things that he can at least win in that department! Second, Jun-san is hot. Third it’s his pride as a seductive guy, damn it. Fourth, okay, he kinda likes Jun, so the idea of having sex with him, to lie in his arms is somewhat appealing.
Jun’s hard to get though. Surprisingly hard. Sometimes there seems to be an interest in his eyes, but he regains the upper hand really fast. It’s almost nerve-wracking, and Nino seriously starts doubting his appeal. He tries it through all kind of different ways. Not even sure why he is so persistent. He should be happy that Jun doesn’t force anything on him, doesn’t touch him, but still…
It’s on a Friday afternoon when Nino is bored and not quite sure if he should go for another attempt in his seduction-plan by rolling on the carpet and throwing dark glances at Jun. Or maybe he should go and shower and pretend that he forgot his clothes. Or-
“Hey.” Jun sits down next to him on the carpet before Nino can even go for his plan. “I’m sorry I have so much work today,” he continues. “I wish I could go out with you.”
Nino smiles warmly. “I’m not much of a partying guy, so it’s perfectly alright. I’m more into casual evenings at home, with a videogame or a good movie.” You next to me. Cuddling. Ugh. He has it bad.
“But we are out of videogames,” Jun muses. “Should I order something. Or…” His eyes snap up. “Why don’t you go and buy something. Last week you said you would love to see that new videogame store.”
“That is true,” Nino stutters. “But is it really alright to go without you?”
“Of course.” Jun laughs. “I’ll try to finish my work as fast as possible so that we can play whatever you bought today. Just take my credit card and go.”
“I should really earn some money,” Nino sighs. “I feel bad living on your money.”
“I don’t mind at all,” Jun tells him. “But if you really want to do something, you can always do it.”
Nino blinks. “For real?”
“Of course, you are a free person. I told you so. Actually I’m really thankful that you are sticking with me here. You can go wherever you want to. As for your future… Is there anything you dream of?”
Nino’s throat feels weirdly dry. How lucky were Aiba and he that they were bought free and not bought as a possession. “I would…” Nino blushes. “I would like to learn something or study… I don’t know where my talents lie though, but… learning a trade or studying to work… that would be a dream.”
“Great.” Jun grins and sits up. “So, go to that store for now – Emmet will take you. He wanted to go shopping anyway – and when you are back we can talk about all of this and try to figure what you want to do. I’m so excited. It sounds like an awesome time.”
Nino laughs happily and in a sudden attempt he just wraps his arms around Jun and hugs him. To his relief Jun doesn’t push him away, instead he hugs him back. Nino isn’t sure he just imagined it, but it feels like he is smiling against his hair.
Because of their conversation Nino isn’t even all that moody or sulky to go out on his own. He lets Emmet accompany him to the shop, before they decide to go separate ways for the next two hours, as Emmet wants to buy some… “What are you actually buying?” Nino wants to know. To his surprise Emmet blushes. Nino grins. “Something pervy?”
“Not at all,” Emmet defends himself. “I… okay… curtains, and new cups. And I’m out of my lavender shampoo.”
“You are kidding?” Nino blinks, eyeing the man in front of him. Emmet was like two meters high, huge. And he was into stuff like that. In the end Nino just shrugs. “Well, I’m pretty weird myself, who am I to judge?”
Emmet chuckles and pats his shoulder. “You’re a good guy. So, meet you in two hours at the entrance of the shopping centre?”
“Yep.”
Nino is glad to be alone for a while. It’s been forever since he was on his own. He doesn’t miss the isolation at all, but on occasion some private time is nice. He hadn’t even realized how much fun his new life is and how he enjoys it.
It’s-
“That Matsumoto-san just owes his success to his pretty face.”
Nino halts in his movements and frowns. The voice came from the male toilet. When he peeks inside he sees four men with rough appearances, apparently bursting their egos by badmouthing strangers. Envy is ugly.
“Yeah, they say he’s THE new thing in the art business,” One of the dudes huffs. “As if.”
“He and that rich bastard Sakurai are basically winning all those clients.”
“Yeah, winning.” The others laugh. “I bet he’s winning them by sleeping his way to the top.”
Nino has heard enough, he kicks the door open and stomps inside. “Yo, you guys with small dicks and big mouths. Who do you think you’re bad mouthing here?”
“What does a wimp like you want now?” one of the guys hisses. “Better go and hide in a doghouse somewhere.”
Nino blinks. “I just called you guys small-dicked and that’s the only retort you have?” He snickers. “Even in a doghouse I can wipe the floor with you trash. You have nothing to offer, and easily blame others for your shortcomings. My favourite kind of people.”
Nino sends a silent thanks out to Ken-san for forcing that stupid kickbox training on him. It pays off now thankfully, Nino thinks when one of the guys wants to grab him and he manages to dodge swiftly. He kicks one of the stupid guy’s stomach once while he tries not to get hit by the other. The bigger one of the guys grabs his arm and pushes him against the wall, but Nino recovers fast and ducks away before the other can hit him. He is fast and small, it’s his strong point. He slips past the first guy and jumps at the back of the second one, his fists hammering against his back. Unfortunately one of the other dudes finally reacts too, grasps Nino from behind and throws him on the floor. He tries to wiggle to get free, but they are too strong. They are four after all and he is only one. But it’s kinda satisfying to see just how much harm he can inflict upon these antagonizing jerks, despite being smaller and having a disadvantage. Even if his face was going to be all red and blue, at least they wouldn’t look much better.
Two of the guys tackle him on the ground though, punching him in his face repeatedly, and Nino is trying to think of a plan to get out of their grip, when he hears the door getting wrenched open and loud voices.
They seem to be security personnel. Nino isn’t sure if he is glad about their interruption or not.
~~~
Emmet, who had been waiting with him at the police station, secretly high fives him when Jun isn’t looking. “You are really something,” he whispers, hopefully silent enough for Jun not to hear it. “Whoever insults our master has it coming.”
Jun on the other hand seemed to be majorly pissed. On a scale from 1 to 10 probably 150. He drove himself this time, not calling for Shun, and he was hammering against the wheel with his fingertips. Even Emmet stayed quiet and didn’t say anything, probably trying to avoid making Jun angrier than he already is.
Only when they park in the garage and Emmet gets out of the car, does he say something. “I’m taking the shopping bags to the back side of the house,” he says casually. “Then I’ll prepare dinner.”
Jun nods. “Yes.”
When Jun isn’t looking, Emmet gives Nino a proud look and smiles, then he disappears through the doorway. Oh man, Nino sighs, this feels like trouble. And really…
“You know,” Jun huffs when he closes the door behind them. His eyes are glinting angrily, and he looks so damn attractive. “When you said you would like to go and check on that new videogame store, and later on look into some information for university, I didn’t think I would need to pick you up from the police station.”
“Are you mad?”
“Well.” Jun tilts his head, glaring at Nino. “Of course!”
“I’m sorry.” Nino lets his head hang down, like he’s ten again, and not a grown up man. “It had to be pretty bad to pick me up from the police. And you probably had to pay for everything. I didn’t even think about that. I’m sorry. Please accept my apology.”
Jun lets out a frustrated sigh. “Are you stupid, shrimp? That’s not the problem. I don’t mind the police at all. But taking on four bullies at once? Are you an idiot?”
So that’s why he’s angry? Nino blinks in surprise. “But…” he stutters. “I know how to fight.”
“Yes, but as far as I’m concerned you're not superman,” Jun hisses. “I know you probably had fight training, but against four of those idiots at once? What if anything had happened to you?”
He’s kinda hot when he is angry, Nino thinks. Like really hot. Those dark eyes… He wonders what he would do if Jun looked at him like that in bed and- He coughs, he needs to focus. “I’m sorry.”
“What happened anyway? How did it get that far?”
Nino blushes slightly. “They said something bad, like really bad. And I just lost it…”
“Bad? Like what?” Jun wants to know. When Nino keeps quiet, he frowns. “About me?”
Wow, he has sharp senses. Nino shrugs helplessly.
“So what did they say? That I owe my success to my good looks and because I know how to suck dick?” Jun’s voice is dripping with sarcasm. Nino’s amazed by the way he managed to pinpoint the insulting comments so precisely.
“Something like that,” Nino explains quietly. “And I got so pissed. I mean, how dare they say something like that. I hate those people that blame everything on other people and are full of envy. And-“
“Kazu,” Jun huffs. “In the position I am it’s just something that happens. Those people will always exist and say things like that. You have no idea what kind of charming things they say about Sho-san or Satoshi-kun. It’s unfortunate, but eventually you grow a thicker skin.”
“It’s still not okay,” Nino argues. “You are so nice and caring, and working so hard. They’re just envious trash.”
Jun stays quiet for a while, before he lets out a small sigh and chuckles to himself. “Now that I know the reason I’m almost a tiny bit flattered and happy that you defended me like that,” He sighs. “But you’ll probably hear comments like those more often. Promise me you won’t get into a fistfight every time.”
Nino nods immediately. It feels like a huge stone is dropping from his shoulders. He thought that Jun would be a lot harder on him than that.
“Fine.” Jun pats Nino’s shoulder. “Let me get the first-aid kit and take a look at your face. You look horrible.” When he stands up, he points with his finger at Nino warningly. “This doesn’t mean I’m not mad anymore.”
Nino grins. “Of course not.”
“You look way too happy,” Jun grumbles.
Nino chuckles. While Jun is away to get the first-aid kit he hums a song, because he is in such a freaking good mood. And when Jun comes back, he finally gives in too, and giggles. “You idiot, why can’t I stay angry with you?”
“That’s my very unique super-power,” Nino jokes.
Jun laughs, and sits down next to Nino again. “Well, if being likeable and charming is your super-power, then I’m one heck of a lucky guy.”
Nino has no idea what he meant with that. Is he lucky that Nino is charming and likeable, or is he lucky that Nino uses his so-called super-power on him… and only him? There is no time to think too much though, as Jun’s face is suddenly extremely close to him, his left hand cupping Nino’s chin to move his head slightly. Oh my god. Nino bites down on his tongue to refrain his breath from hitching.
And when Jun’s soft fingertips carefully touch the bruise at his right eyebrow, something inside Nino’s stomach tugs. He can’t quite tell what it is, but it gets stronger the closer Jun’s face is to him, the longer he cares, when those long fingers press some cotton wool with ointment against his cheek, and his free hand caresses his neck soothingly. It’s like someone pulls at all nerves in his stomach at once.
Fuck. He really has it bad.
~~~
Nino decides he needs to get down to business for real now. He’s frazzled around Jun, and one kind word from him is all it takes to make him blush. Nino isn’t so sure what it is he feels, but he decides to call it ‘want’. He wants Jun. And before he turns into a bundle of nerves, he needs to seduce Jun. This time for real. Operation lose-my-virginity begins.
He has a couple of plans. He tries to tell himself that he’s semi-successful… though if he is honest, he isn’t successful at all. Plan A starts with him slipping into Jun’s bed while Jun is in the bathroom, right before going to sleep.
“What?” Jun blinks and pokes the bundle beneath the blanket.
Nino pretends to be just waking up, blinking slightly. “Oh,” he says in mock-surprise, while pushing his blanket aside. He’s as good as naked – of course – pretending that he always sleeps without clothes or with only his pants on – black tight pants he bought specifically for this moment. “I’m sorry. I guess I mixed up our bedrooms.”
Something in Jun’s eyes flickers, and Nino almost believes he has won, but then Jun wraps the warm blanket around Nino’s body and smiles. “You can sleep here if you want. I can take the couch.”
Plan B leads to him dripping wet, out of the shower, with a tiny towel around his hips. “Jun-kun,” he asks casually, while he peeks into Jun’s study. “I can’t reach the top shelf. Can you help me please, I need my shampoo!” Shower sex is not on his top three list of first-times, but, well… it’s better than not getting Jun to fuck him at all.
“Sure.” Jun stands up, following him to the bathroom. The plan’s working, yes, now all he needs to do is-
Nino pretends to stumble, basically dropping into Jun’s arms. He goes for the embarrassed, cute look – though he doesn’t need to try really hard to blush – blinking up at Jun innocently. Jun has wrapped his arm around his waist, to prevent him from tripping. He just looks down at Nino for a long while, licking his lips nervously, then unfortunately he lets go, looking a bit disappointed himself. “Here is your shampoo,” he says casually, before retreating.
Why is he looking so disappointed? He could have just gone for it!
Plan C is simple, but hopefully effective. They are watching some weird fantasy movie, when Nino starts to hug himself and shiver lightly. Jun’s caring and wants him to feel good… it should definitely catch his attention. And really, Jun looks at him immediately. “Are you okay?” He slips closer, reaching out his hand to take one of Nino’s hands, rubbing it.
“It’s cold.” Nino shivers.
Jun frowns, touching Nino’s forehead. “You feel a bit hot,” he mumbles. “Hopefully you don’t get a fever.”
NO YOU IDIOT! I’m feeling hot because you are here! Damn it! He can’t say it out loud though, and just smiles soothingly. “I don’t think so. It’s just a bit chilly right now.”
Jun rubs his arms and shoulders. “I’ll get you some tea immediately and a hot-water bottle. And maybe some hot soup. I don’t want you to get sick!”
Wow, okay, that backfired. When Jun stands up, Nino grabs his sleeve. “Don’t go,” he begs.
Jun blinks in confusion. “Hm?”
“Just hug me. Please?”
For a moment Jun just looks at him in surprise, then his gaze softens up so much that something inside Nino flutters. Jun nods, and sits down again, this time closer to Nino. When he wraps his arms around Nino and pulls him close, Nino sighs happily. This is good too, he thinks. It’s not what he originally went for, but it feels good to just lean into Jun’s arms.
“You are such a tease,” Jun mumbles against his hair. His voice sounds hoarse and sends goose bumps over Nino’s skin.
What does he mean by that?
~~~
Before Nino can even get to plan D or E, there is an unfortunate event… a thunderstorm, in the middle of the night.
It is crazy. Nino slowly scoots closer to the huge glass windows in his bedroom. Up until now he was happy to have this huge view of the outside. He had known about thunderstorms before, but it’s different when you sleep in a small room, far away from the outdoors in a huge building, and don’t even hear the thunder or see the torrents of rain. And now he was right below it all. A huge gray cloud crosses the sky, and a moment later a flash of lightning rips it apart. Nino jumps up in shock, and before he can think any further, he grabs his Mario pillow - a silly present from Emmet - and rushes out of the room.
He bursts into Jun’s room without knocking. “Don’t throw me out please,” he calls out. “And don’t go away to sleep somewhere else.”
Jun sits up in his bed, blinking a few times in confusion. Then he eyes Nino’s form, before his gaze shifts to the thunderstorm. He grins. "What are you, a baby?" he teases, but Nino doesn't mind his snarky teasing at all right now. There is no way he is going to stay alone in his room when the world is going down. To his relief Jun doesn't tease him further though. Instead he slips to the side a bit, and pats the empty space next to him. “I warn you,” he grins. “I’m a horrible morning person. One wrong word from you tomorrow morning, and I might just bite your head off.”
Actually, Nino thinks, when he slips under the blanket, it would be nice to see this perfect man slip up for once. “It’s okay,” he says softly and inhales Jun’s scent. “I can definitely take it.”
When he wakes up the next morning to the sound of Jun’s alarm going off, he looks at Jun’s face closely. Jun rubs his eyes several times, grumbling something incomprehensible. “You have to get up,” Nino whispers.
Jun grunts and wraps his arms around Nino. “Shut up,” he huffs.
Nino smiles brightly. He knows Jun doesn’t realize what he is doing or saying, but still his heart jumps happily. This is something he could definitely get used too.
~~~
Sleeping next to Jun was wonderful, but Nino has no idea how to achieve that ever again. Jun is back to his normal charming, friendly, yet detached self. Last time during the thunderstorm Nino was able to break the barrier between them and Jun hadn’t pushed him away, instead he had hugged him and calmed him down. It had felt natural.
But now they are back to normal, and suddenly Nino feels extremely lonely. Jun didn’t buy him for a sexual partnership – apparently he didn’t buy him as a partner at all, but to set him free. But… what is he supposed to do now? What does Jun want from him? Truly nothing at all? Somehow that thought is extremely depressing to Nino.
“Hey, my favourite Japanese boy. I’ve prepared something for you.” Emmet puts a huge bowl of cocoa in front of him.
Nino blinks in confusion. “Emmet, I’m not five.”
“But you look sad recently, and hot chocolate always helps. I know that. So how about you drink this and talk to your big bro’ Em.”
Nino forces a smile to his lips. “It’s nothing Em, really.”
“Drink!” Emmet commands. “And don’t use any weak excuses.”
Nino sighs, but follows his friend’s demand nevertheless. The hot chocolate is warm, and sweet, and a bit spicy, but Emmet is right, it warms him up from inside, floods him with emotion. It feels so warm, like lying next to Jun and cuddling against him. He can’t lose that warmth anymore. He just can’t. If Jun doesn’t want him, he will send him back, like a broken tool. He doesn’t want to be sent back to the nothingness of his life from before. He wants to stay here, with Jun, in this warm and safe life. He just-
Before he realizes it, he finds himself sobbing into his cup of hot chocolate.
“Hey,” Emmet mumbles and rubs his back soothingly. “This was intended to make you feel better, not worse. What is the problem, tiny man?”
Nino is so out of it that he doesn’t even register Emmet calling him that stupid nickname. He just shakes his head. “I don’t want to go away, Em. I want to stay. Even though I have no place here, I want to stay. I don’t want to be sent away.”
Emmet stares at him in surprise. “Who is sending you away?”
Nino shakes his head. There is no way he can voice it out. His multiple tries to make Jun be interested in him failed. Which means he failed. Which means he is useless. Which means he is a defunct product. Which means there is nowhere he belongs.
Emmet doesn’t say anymore, instead he just hugs him like he is small child needing his parent’s embrace.
A/N: There was a lot going on for Nino here, wasn't it? :D First meeting Aiba again, then the revelation that Aiba already lost his virginity (competition, hello :D), then the fist-fight, his seduction plans that failed. Now he is getting really depressed and desperate. Why do you think won't Jun touch him?

~~~
Emmet, who had been waiting with him at the police station, secretly high fives him when Jun isn’t looking. “You are really something,” he whispers, hopefully silent enough for Jun not to hear it. “Whoever insults our master has it coming.”
Jun on the other hand seemed to be majorly pissed. On a scale from 1 to 10 probably 150. He drove himself this time, not calling for Shun, and he was hammering against the wheel with his fingertips. Even Emmet stayed quiet and didn’t say anything, probably trying to avoid making Jun angrier than he already is.
Only when they park in the garage and Emmet gets out of the car, does he say something. “I’m taking the shopping bags to the back side of the house,” he says casually. “Then I’ll prepare dinner.”
Jun nods. “Yes.”
When Jun isn’t looking, Emmet gives Nino a proud look and smiles, then he disappears through the doorway. Oh man, Nino sighs, this feels like trouble. And really…
“You know,” Jun huffs when he closes the door behind them. His eyes are glinting angrily, and he looks so damn attractive. “When you said you would like to go and check on that new videogame store, and later on look into some information for university, I didn’t think I would need to pick you up from the police station.”
“Are you mad?”
“Well.” Jun tilts his head, glaring at Nino. “Of course!”
“I’m sorry.” Nino lets his head hang down, like he’s ten again, and not a grown up man. “It had to be pretty bad to pick me up from the police. And you probably had to pay for everything. I didn’t even think about that. I’m sorry. Please accept my apology.”
Jun lets out a frustrated sigh. “Are you stupid, shrimp? That’s not the problem. I don’t mind the police at all. But taking on four bullies at once? Are you an idiot?”
So that’s why he’s angry? Nino blinks in surprise. “But…” he stutters. “I know how to fight.”
“Yes, but as far as I’m concerned you're not superman,” Jun hisses. “I know you probably had fight training, but against four of those idiots at once? What if anything had happened to you?”
He’s kinda hot when he is angry, Nino thinks. Like really hot. Those dark eyes… He wonders what he would do if Jun looked at him like that in bed and- He coughs, he needs to focus. “I’m sorry.”
“What happened anyway? How did it get that far?”
Nino blushes slightly. “They said something bad, like really bad. And I just lost it…”
“Bad? Like what?” Jun wants to know. When Nino keeps quiet, he frowns. “About me?”
Wow, he has sharp senses. Nino shrugs helplessly.
“So what did they say? That I owe my success to my good looks and because I know how to suck dick?” Jun’s voice is dripping with sarcasm. Nino’s amazed by the way he managed to pinpoint the insulting comments so precisely.
“Something like that,” Nino explains quietly. “And I got so pissed. I mean, how dare they say something like that. I hate those people that blame everything on other people and are full of envy. And-“
“Kazu,” Jun huffs. “In the position I am it’s just something that happens. Those people will always exist and say things like that. You have no idea what kind of charming things they say about Sho-san or Satoshi-kun. It’s unfortunate, but eventually you grow a thicker skin.”
“It’s still not okay,” Nino argues. “You are so nice and caring, and working so hard. They’re just envious trash.”
Jun stays quiet for a while, before he lets out a small sigh and chuckles to himself. “Now that I know the reason I’m almost a tiny bit flattered and happy that you defended me like that,” He sighs. “But you’ll probably hear comments like those more often. Promise me you won’t get into a fistfight every time.”
Nino nods immediately. It feels like a huge stone is dropping from his shoulders. He thought that Jun would be a lot harder on him than that.
“Fine.” Jun pats Nino’s shoulder. “Let me get the first-aid kit and take a look at your face. You look horrible.” When he stands up, he points with his finger at Nino warningly. “This doesn’t mean I’m not mad anymore.”
Nino grins. “Of course not.”
“You look way too happy,” Jun grumbles.
Nino chuckles. While Jun is away to get the first-aid kit he hums a song, because he is in such a freaking good mood. And when Jun comes back, he finally gives in too, and giggles. “You idiot, why can’t I stay angry with you?”
“That’s my very unique super-power,” Nino jokes.
Jun laughs, and sits down next to Nino again. “Well, if being likeable and charming is your super-power, then I’m one heck of a lucky guy.”
Nino has no idea what he meant with that. Is he lucky that Nino is charming and likeable, or is he lucky that Nino uses his so-called super-power on him… and only him? There is no time to think too much though, as Jun’s face is suddenly extremely close to him, his left hand cupping Nino’s chin to move his head slightly. Oh my god. Nino bites down on his tongue to refrain his breath from hitching.
And when Jun’s soft fingertips carefully touch the bruise at his right eyebrow, something inside Nino’s stomach tugs. He can’t quite tell what it is, but it gets stronger the closer Jun’s face is to him, the longer he cares, when those long fingers press some cotton wool with ointment against his cheek, and his free hand caresses his neck soothingly. It’s like someone pulls at all nerves in his stomach at once.
Fuck. He really has it bad.
~~~
~~~
Before Nino can even get to plan D or E, there is an unfortunate event… a thunderstorm, in the middle of the night.
It is crazy. Nino slowly scoots closer to the huge glass windows in his bedroom. Up until now he was happy to have this huge view of the outside. He had known about thunderstorms before, but it’s different when you sleep in a small room, far away from the outdoors in a huge building, and don’t even hear the thunder or see the torrents of rain. And now he was right below it all. A huge gray cloud crosses the sky, and a moment later a flash of lightning rips it apart. Nino jumps up in shock, and before he can think any further, he grabs his Mario pillow - a silly present from Emmet - and rushes out of the room.
He bursts into Jun’s room without knocking. “Don’t throw me out please,” he calls out. “And don’t go away to sleep somewhere else.”
Jun sits up in his bed, blinking a few times in confusion. Then he eyes Nino’s form, before his gaze shifts to the thunderstorm. He grins. "What are you, a baby?" he teases, but Nino doesn't mind his snarky teasing at all right now. There is no way he is going to stay alone in his room when the world is going down. To his relief Jun doesn't tease him further though. Instead he slips to the side a bit, and pats the empty space next to him. “I warn you,” he grins. “I’m a horrible morning person. One wrong word from you tomorrow morning, and I might just bite your head off.”
Actually, Nino thinks, when he slips under the blanket, it would be nice to see this perfect man slip up for once. “It’s okay,” he says softly and inhales Jun’s scent. “I can definitely take it.”
When he wakes up the next morning to the sound of Jun’s alarm going off, he looks at Jun’s face closely. Jun rubs his eyes several times, grumbling something incomprehensible. “You have to get up,” Nino whispers.
Jun grunts and wraps his arms around Nino. “Shut up,” he huffs.
Nino smiles brightly. He knows Jun doesn’t realize what he is doing or saying, but still his heart jumps happily. This is something he could definitely get used too.
~~~
