Title: Broken Wings
Pairing/Group: Sakumoto, mentions of Ohba, Nino
Rating: PG
Summary: After a little accident Jun's wings are hurt.
Notes: Written for [personal profile] learashi . I did a prompt challenge recently, and she requested Sakumoto and angels.

Jun yelps at the sudden pain striking his body, flinching away. Behind him he hears an annoyed grunt. “Stay still!”

“Then stop being so rough,” he huffs.

The answer comes immediately, and sounds pretty exasperated. “Stay still and it won’t hurt! I’m trying to patch you up after all!”

Jun throws a deathly glare at the person talking, though he has to admit that the way Sho attends to his bruises, his soft expression betraying his annoyed tone, makes his heart flutter in a way it probably shouldn’t. “But it hurts, Sho-san!”

“Maybe you will consider being more careful next time,” the other reprimands him. “You were leaning over the bridge so much that you dropped into the lake and hence into the Human world. Jun-san, that’s a long fall!”

Jun blushes.  “I was curious,” he stutters. “The humans care cute. You know my Human, the guy, I’m watching over – the one with the sleepy face – he has feelings for someone I think. So sweet.” Sho chuckles softly at his words, while Jun sighs dreamily when he thinks about how his Human turns into a stuttering mess in front of the barista of his favourite coffee shop. How he is an awkward mess in front of him. So cute. When he feels how his wings get straightened slightly, a band-aid wrapped over the left part of it, he cries out in pain though. “SHO-SAN stop it!”

Sho lets go of his wings immediately, a warm hand suddenly against Jun’s back, stroking it softly. “Does it hurt so much?” he asks in sudden worry, eyes wide. “Jun-san, what’s wrong?”

Jun feels tears sting in his eyes, he pants heavily, the pain from his wings seemingly spreading through his whole body. He carefully tries to stretch his wings, immediately feeling the same pain crossing his body again. It takes his breath away. What the hell is going on with his body? What’s wrong? Why? He tries it again, crying out in pain, but he couldn’t care less, because damn it, his wings…

“Jun-san!” He suddenly feels Sho’s hands grabbing his arms, keeping Jun from trashing around in panic. “Don’t hurt yourself further!” He lets one of his hands rest against Jun’s cheeks, his thumb stroking over the soft skin. “Calm down… please. I’m here, everything is alright.” Jun does not feel relieved, not at all, but Sho’s hand against his cheek does something to him that makes him calm down a bit. “Yes, right, that’s good,” Sho says softly.

Jun nods half-heartedly.

“I’ll call Shun-sensei to check on you, immediately!” Sho promises, eyes clouded with worry. His own wings flutter nervously. It’s almost cute. “I’ll be back in a second! I’m not going anywhere.”

His wings are not broken, just sprained badly. He needs to keep them still for a few weeks. That’s not even that long, still Jun feels miserable and gloomy.

“You were right,” he mumbles into his forearm while he stretches on his bed, facing the wall instead of Sho or the room. “It was stupid to bend over the balustrade like that. It’s my own fault.”

“It’s not stupid,” Sho answers, voice tentative.

“You said it yourself,” Jun mumbles. “It’s completely reckless. I’m such an idiot.”

“You are not an idiot, and you aren’t reckless, I never said that!” Sho urges, his hand stroking over Jun’s shoulder, obviously trying to make him look at him. Jun ignores it. “I was just worried when I said you should watch out more.”

“Maybe,” Jun states quietly. “But you were still right. I will try not to be reckless anymore.”

For a moment it seems like Sho wants to say something else, but he doesn’t. And Jun isn’t sure if he is glad about it or disappointed.

Jun has strictly followed all the guidelines Shun told him, almost meticulously. He didn’t get involved with the Human world again, and didn’t meddle with his Human’s life, afraid that he might overdo it again, and Sho and Shun might get angry, or he might get hurt for real. He doesn’t want anything to happen again – without his wings, he can’t protect his Human after all. And Ohno needs someone to watch out for him or he would even forget to eat.

Jun sits down at the bridge leading over the lake, looking down into it carefully while keeping a safe enough distance. To his shock his normally so calm and content looking protégé looks sad today. He is sitting on his ship, looking at the sea gloomily. Jun carefully touches the water of the lake with his finger, making a few fish appear at the surface. His Human blinks, but although his interest seems to be peeked, he still looks sad.

“Is your human being sad?” he can hear Sho’s voice next to him. Jun shrugs while Sho sits down next to him, looking into the pond too. “He certainly looks like it.”

“Sometimes he is like this,” Jun explains warily, trying not to get too absorbed into his human’s personal life again, or he might accidentally drop down again.

“Well, mine, you know the game developer,” Sho snorts. “Is the complete opposite. He has a new boyfriend or girlfriend every month. And yours?”

Jun is surprised by the sudden interest Sho shows him. “Mine likes the cute barista from the coffee shop he always goes to. He wants to confess,” he explains after a while. “But he doesn’t find the courage to. Which is why… well, I guess he has to deal with it alone? I will just try to lead him a bit, but nothing more. I mean, you always say we shouldn’t get too involved with them and all.”

“Don’t change!” Sho suddenly blurts out.

Jun blinks at him in surprise, not sure where that statement now comes from. “What?”

Sho puts an arm around Jun’s shoulder, pulling him closer. “You are not reckless, Jun-kun. Your dedication to the people you protect makes you shine more than anyone else. I love that about you.”

“You are just saying that because we are friends,” Jun argues, but feels touched nevertheless, a blush crawling over his cheeks.

“I guess I and your Human have something in common,” Sho stutters, cheeks flushed. His wings are tensed, flapping nervously. “We both have problems confessing.”

Jun stares at Sho through wide eyes, trying to process what he is telling him, his heart making a tentative jump. “Is that true?” he asks, voice hoarse.

“If you are not feeling comfortable with that, or if you feel like I’m pushing you, misinterpreting things, you know, we can always go back to being buddies, and-“

“Shut up,” Jun interrupts him, a careful smile spreading on his lips.

Sho blinks, looking like a cute, goofy idiot, happy all of a sudden. He carefully takes Jun’s hand into his, entwining their fingers. “So,” he says softly after a while. “Should I send my Human to befriend the love object of yours and push them together?”

“You think your Human would be able to do that?”

Sho snorts. “My Human is the impersonation of pushy!” He touches the water with his fingers, grinning when a black-haired guy appears and suddenly takes the path through the park, instead of going down the street. He stumbles over Jun’s human who lies in the grass, dozing off. Sho’s black-haired small-framed human grumbles in annoyance, dropping a few sarcastic comments, but Jun’s protégé doesn’t disappoint him. He just chuckles and reacts like nothing is off. They go to his favourite coffee shop afterwards with Sho’s protégé immediately realizing the other’s affection for the cute barista. Jun smiles when that black-haired little devil engulfs the barista in a talk, forces him to sit down with them and then leaves for the toilet, where he stays half an hour.

“I’m Masaki, by the way,” the barista says after a while, a bright smile on his face.

“Satoshi,” Jun’s Human stutters. He is nervous. Cute.

Jun chuckles. Satoshi looks happy.

“Thank you, Sho-san,” Jun says with a blush.

Sho’s hand feels warm against his back, and when he carefully caresses Jun’s wings, it feels like something in his stomach tugs in nervousness, yet joy. “Don’t change,” Sho says softly, repeating his pervious words. “You don’t need to change. Just be more careful. I want to have you around for a long time, you know?”

Jun smiles, the old mischief in him slowly coming back. “What do you say about going on a fieldtrip?”

“To meddle with our Humans’ business?” Sho asks, pulling his eyebrows up.

Jun goes for an innocent expression. “You don’t have to come, if you don’t want to.”

Sho groans. “Like I’m letting you go alone! It’s going to be a catastrophe!”

Jun grins. “If you aren’t nice, I won’t take you along.”

“I’ll come anyways,” Sho argues, grabbing Jun’s hand tighter.

Jun is inclined to tease him a bit more, but Sho look so genuinely worried that instead he just leans closer to him and hugs him. “So you’ll come with me?” he asks softly.

Sho returns his smile. “Let’s go and have some fun with our Humans.”

Jun smiles contently, stretching his neck a bit to look into Sho’s eyes directly. He isn’t sure if Sho will approve of it or not, but he just has to bend forward and kiss him softly. To his joy and relief he immediately feels Sho’s hand against his neck, pulling him closer and kissing him back. Jun smiles against Sho’s lips, all of a sudden feeling like he can achieve everything. He will be able to make his Human happy, and more imortantly Sho and himself.
