Kei loves the fact that Yuya basically abducted him and brought him to this place. It’s so romantic. Of course technically Yuya didn’t abduct him, he asked him if he wants to come along and they looked through offers together. But it was Yuya’s idea to come here, it was his idea to go on a vacation. I want to spend more time with you, he said, and it was so sweet that Kei would have gone everywhere with him.
“Did you ever go skiing before?” Yuya wants to know while they put on their skiing shoes.
“No, but I’m looking forward to trying!” Kei smiles. He is not really the type to do outdoor activities anyways, but being out in the snow with Yuya, staying at a private cottage. It all sounds so great. And skiing can’t be that difficult.
That’s what he thought until he lands head first in the snow, for the nth time today.
Yuya slides towards him, getting off his skis and helping him up again. “Are you alright?” he asks in worry. “Should we stop?”
No way! He is not going to ruin this vacation for them by acting like a sulky teen. “I’m alright,” he smiles. “We can continue for a bit more.”
With Yuya’s help he gets back on his feet and carefully slides down the hill. He hears Yuya’s warning too late. Before he even knows what’s going on he already drives over a huge branch in the snow and drops down again. There is an immediate stinging pain in his ankle, and he yelps.
“Okay, that’s it,” Yuya takes his skis off again, carefully helping Kei into a sitting position and checking his feet. It hurts slightly when he twists it. “We are going home,” he orders.
“But…”
“You are going to get seriously hurt if we continue,” Yuya argues. “Let’s rather spend the rest of the day in the cottage and go for a walk if you feel like it, instead of having to head to the hospital.”
He has a point. While he wonders how to get down the hill though, a middle age guy passes them and calls the security for them. It all goes pretty fast from then on. A guy on a snow mobile picks Kei up while Yuya skis down himself, and brings him for a swift check up to the local doctor. Gladly his ankle is only sprained not broken. And hour later they are in their cosy cottage.
When Yuya makes him some hot chocolate Kei bursts into tears.
“Is the hot chocolate so bad?” Yuya asks in shock. “Wait, I’ll make a new one for you!”
Kei grabs his arm and prevents him from leaving. “That’s not it, idiot.”
“Then you are in pain? Should I call the doctor?”
“No, you are just so nice,” Kei sobs.
Yuya blinks before he starts grinning. “Really now? You must be under the influence of painkillers.”
Kei frowns. “Hey, I’m being serious! I ruined your day.”
Yuya still laughs, but wraps his arms around Kei, hugging him tightly. “You didn’t ruin my day at all.”
“Really?” Kei asks, snugging against Yuya. “But what about the skiing.”
“I’m here to spend time with you,” Yuya explains. “I don’t mind if we go skiing or not. Actually it makes me really happy that you tried so hard just to make me happy.”
“It was fun,” Kei admits. “Well, the falling wasn’t.”
“You were actually not doing bad,” Yuya tells him.
“Yeah, right,” he chuckles.
“No, really. It was your first time on skis. You were really doing well.”
“Are you for real?” Kei asks in surprise.
“Yes.”
“And our vacation isn’t ruined?”
“Not at all.”
Kei smiles, his hand moving over Yuya’s waist, up to his neck. He feels Yuya’s hand brushing through his hair, his thumb stroking his cheeks softly. They both lean into the kiss at the same time. A warm feeling spreads in Kei’s chest. He doubts that his life can get any better than it is now.
