There is a worried frown gracing Jun’s normally so pretty face, forcing Sho to switch into his protective boyfriend mode immediately. When the other three are busy with individual rehearsals he approaches Jun, wrapping his arms around him possessively and kisses Jun’s neck.

Jun chuckles. “Where is that coming from?”

“Just wanted to appreciate you,” Sho says casually, and his words magically make a smile appear on Jun’s lips.

Jun even blushes a bit. “You don’t need to.”

“It’s not a matter of must, but… I want to.”

Now with Jun all warm and relaxed he can dare to get down to the point. “What did you do yesterday?”

Jun’s answer comes as a surprise. “Talking to my bonsai. The whole night.”

“What?” Sho blinks. “To Pan-chan? Why?”

“The heating in my apartment didn’t work yesterday and I was afraid Pan-chan would suffer from the sudden cold.”

Sho is actually more concerned about Jun suffering from the sudden cold, but for the sake of being supportive, he decides to change his usual approach. “You could have called me, take Pan-chan and stay at my place.” He blinks. “In fact that’s a good idea!”

“Is that really alright?” Jun asks nervously.

Sho smiles. “Jun-san, I’m not letting you stay in a cold apartment. So either you come and stay with me or I will have to make an emergency call to the workmen and get on their nerves to repair everything until tonight.”

“I’m staying at your place,” Jun hurries to answer. He seems to look happy all of a sudden, planting a soft kiss on Sho’s lips. “Thank you.”

Everything goes smoothly. Considering this is he and Jun he is surprised by how smoothly it goes. Smooth is not their couple-word normally.

This is until Jun has to go for a drama shooting, leaving Sho alone with his bonsai and a to-do list about how to handle the tiny tree. Sho sticks to it strictly.

Three hours into the evening Jun’s bonsai drops its first leaf.

And then a second.

A third.

Sho tries to intervene by singing it a song, resulting in another leaf to drop. He googles, he researches, calls one of his friends who is a biologist. He does everything on the to-do list, checks the temperature in the room, talks to Pan-chan.

But at the end of the night Pan-chan lost one third of its leaves.

He is doomed!

For a moment Sho considers leaving the country, but that would mean he can never have sex again with Jun. Not an option. On the other hand when Jun sees his bonsai…

“Sho-san, I’m back.”

Oh damn it! Sho decides he needs to bring the news to Jun as carefully as possible. Tapping into the corridor he sees Jun smiling at him brightly. His cheeks are red from the cold weather outside and he is holding a bag with fresh bread in his hands for their breakfast.

Sho feels like the worst person in the universe. “I’m so sorry!” he blurts out. “I tried everything to save Pan-chan!”

Jun blinks. “What?”

“I stayed up all night with it, singing and talking to it, and doing everything on your to-do list. But the leaves…”

Jun stares at Sho. “You were up the whole night?” He walks into the guest room where they put Pan-chan. To Sho’s utmost surprised Jun doesn’t seem to be angry or worried. Must be the shock.

“I’m so sorry Jun-san,” he says miserably. “Now you are mad at me.”

“Yeah,” Jun snorts. “You idiot stayed up the whole night for a plant!”

Sho blinks. “But… the leaves…”

Jun chuckles. “I can’t believe I finally found something the normally so super smart Sakurai-san didn’t find an answer to.”

“What do you mean?”

Jun wraps his arms around Sho from behind, snuggling against his back. “I expected it to lose a few leaves. It’s not uncommon. Bonsais get upset if you change their location.”

Sho lets the information sink in. “So… nothing actually happened?”

Jun kisses his neck. “Everything is normal.”

“I stayed up all night for nothing?”

“Yeah.”

“Heck, I’m even too spent to sleep with you!” Sho huffs. “I’m mad at Pan-chan now!”

Jun grins. “Come, I’ll feed you with some freshly baked croissants and coffee. And then…” He licks his lips teasingly. “Maybe we’ll find a way for you to have fun without having to do much.”

Sho blinks, before a smile curls around his lips. That’s totally worth staying up the whole night. Thank you, Pan-chan!
