Love Confusion: Chapter 5
Pairing: Aimiya, Juntoshi, Sho/Masami
Rating: PG-13 (for now?)
Genre: romance, AU (college/work/coffeeshop), love-hexagon you could say^^
Plot: Nino, Masaki’s best friend and co-student, has a crush on Masaki’s older brother Satoshi since forever. Satoshi however, a young barista, loves Masaki’s university lecturer Matsumoto, who is a regular in his coffeeshop. But Jun has a friends with benefits thing with his former senpai Sho. Sho however, a young lawyer, has never believed in love, until he falls in love with Masami, a young pet shop owner. Masami however laid her eyes on the cute guy Masaki, who helps in her shop sometimes. And Masaki? He can’t see Nino the same anymore ever since that night two years ago…

yukitsubute !!!!!!!!!! I hope you will like this story! (I tried to go for a different main pair this time - I have never written Aimiya for you after all!
Everyone wears a freaking tie, and a suit. Masaki has never felt that much out of place before. Gladly he is not the only one.
“Jesus fucking Christ,” Nino breathes out. “Let this be over soon.” He nudges Masaki with his elbow. “Thanks for coming, it would have been horrible without you.”
“Oh come on, you mingle better with them than I do,” Masaki argues. To him Nino looks more than fine in his suit. His hair black, so black that sometimes in the right light it almost looks bluish. His body is rather fragile built, but yet he manages to radiate confidence and manliness. He looks like he could start in any law firm right now, and be printed on the cover of their magazine.
“Are you kidding?” Nino sighs. “You are the only person that makes this evening bearable for me.”
Masaki blushes instantly. Does Nino even know what he is saying? He coughs. “I would come anytime if you need me,” he admits, noting how Nino looks at him for a moment. There is a look in his soft-brown eyes Masaki hasn’t seen before, and he isn’t sure what it means.
“Did you get the internship? Did they contact you already?” Nino asks all of a sudden.
Masaki smiles. “I don’t know yet, but I’m in the last round. I hope I’ll get in. If not, they already told me they will consider me application for the next time.”
“Great!” Nino exclaims happily.
Their talk gets disrupted by Masami approaching them. She has a cheerful attitude, sometimes Masaki feels like he is looking into a female mirror when he sees her, maybe that’s why they klick so well. “Hey guys,” she chirps. “Thought I’d say hello.”
“Hello, Masami-san!” Masaki greets her, happy to have another well-known face around. His brother and Jun are here too, but to his surprise they are nowhere to be seen. In general Jun wasn’t looking too well when he came. Maybe he felt sick?
“You look stunning, Masami-san!” Nino says in disbelief.
Masami frowns. “Why do you sound so surprised?”
“I just know you in your overalls and sweaters,” Nino points out. “But now you look like you could actually marry one of these dudes.”
She blushes deeply, and Nino and Masaki exchange a surprised glance. “Don’t tell me…” Masaki starts.
“Oh my god,” Nino’s eyes widen. “So, do you like my cousin?”
Masami blushes even further. “SHHHH!” she huffs. “It’s… I don’t know.”
“You don’t know if you like him?” Nino repeats in interest. “He is crazy about you.”
“But he has the reputation of being a playboy,” Masami explains with a sigh. “I’ve heard some of the office ladies talk.”
“But he is friends with your brother,” Masaki points out.
“Yes, Jun told me that he isn’t a bad guy,” Masami explains.
“So where’s the problem?”
“Jun is weirdly reserved,” Masami explains. “He is hardly talking about Sho, and his answers are so wishy-washy. And he kind of… he is looking kind of bothered by something.”
Again Nino and Masaki exchange a glance. This would explain Jun’s latest two classes where he was super impatient and demanded so much that half of the class was about to get a panic attack.
“Sho is not meeting anyone at the moment,” Nino explains. “I know it, because he told me, and I’m living with him, so I know he didn’t go out at all. He was seeing one or two people casually right before but he is not meeting anyone right now. He is only talking about you.”
“Is that true?” Masami asks curiously.
“I wouldn’t lie to you,” Nino says sincerely. “Not even for my cousin.”
She chuckles. “To imagine I’m thinking about another guy now. You know-“ She grins towards Masaki. “Not long ago I was actually having a little crush on you.”
Masaki almost spits his drink out again. “On me,” he squeals.
“Yes, you were so adorable, and always there to help. I decided if I ever marry or date someone, it needs to be someone like you.” She grins.
“I can’t believe that a beautiful and charming woman like you would like a guy like me,” Masaki shakes his head.
Nino frowns. “What’s wrong with liking you? As far as I’m concerned you are a pretty good catch!”
“I agree,” Masami says with a chuckle before she turns around to check the room. Masaki is glad for that moment because it gives him time to recover from Nino’s latest statement. “Say, did one of you see my brother?” Masaki asks all of a sudden.
“Just shortly,” Masaki explains. “My brother isn’t here either. Maybe they went outside for a bit.”
“He looked worried today,” Masami mumbles. “He is normally really sweet. But today he is so not himself. I wonder what’s off.” She sighs.
Nino grins when Sho is approaching them. He waves at him. Sho smiles when he comes closer. “Are you having fun?”
“Well, I think Masami-san has fun,” Nino states. “As for me and Masaki. We have each other if that counts?”
Again. He said something weird again! Yet, Masaki nods.
Sho looks around a bit. “Did one of you see Jun-kun? I would love to talk to him, but he is nowhere to be seen. He looked kind of off today…”
“I’m sure he is talking to my brother,” Masaki states. “We all came together, and my brother isn’t around either right now.”
“Hopefully he is feeling well,” Sho mumbles. “And not getting sick or something.” He looks at Masami now. “Masami-san, are you enjoying the evening too?”
“Of course,” she smiles warmly. “Thanks for your invitation.”
“You know,” he stutters. “You look beautiful tonight.”
When Masami blushes slightly, Masaki rolls his eyes. If Sho continues to hit on her so slowly, they will need months to get together. He decides to give them a little push. “Why is no one dancing?” he says, looking at Nino to signal him to play along.
Nino catches on immediately. “Yeah, the music is good, but no one is dancing. Seems like everyone is too shy.”
“Guess they need a couple to make the first step,” Masaki mock-muses.
Nino nods, looking at Sho with a frown. “Aren’t you the host?” he asks, pretending to sound reproachful.
“You are right,” Sho says, his voice sounding almost a bit relieved – happy about the excuse he just got. He turns to Masami. “Masami-san,” he says nervously. “Would you mind?”
She returns his smile. “Not at all.”

Jun is lightening his fifth cigarette this evening while leaning against the balustrade of the balcony and looking through the huge glass window, eyeing the couples on the dance floor. He rubs his head. It’s over, he decides, it’s officially over. He just wished he would have told Sho how he felt, before all this here happened. Not because he hopes for Sho to return his feelings, but for the sake of being honest. Now that he is dancing with Masami Jun decides to lock his feelings up inside him forever and never let them get out again.
“You did notice it from the first moment on, didn’t you?” he hears a voice next to him, and sees a figure approaching him. “From the day on when we all met in the amusement park.”
“What did I notice?” Jun says sharply. “That the guy I like since High School just invited me so that I bring my sister along?”
“He is an idiot.”
“For liking my sister?” Jun grumbles. “She is a wonderful woman. She deserves to be happy. I’ve heard that Sho completely stopped playing around, he is sincere towards her. Otherwise I would have kicked him to the moon already.”
Satoshi lets out a sigh. “That’s not what I mean. He is an idiot for playing with your feelings, unintentionally or not, and not realizing you like him, and for letting you go.”
Jun looks away all of a sudden, his eyes burning slightly.
“Let’s go,” Satoshi says.
“We can’t go,” Jun argues weakly.
“Yes we can,” Satoshi states. “Grab your jacket, we are leaving. We don’t need to tell anyone that we leave. Come.”
Jun looks at him in surprise, but something in Satoshi’s voice just pulls him along. He wants to escape this here so badly. It was a mistake to even come here, he needs to leave, Satoshi is right.

They are walking by foot, none of them saying anything. Jun doesn’t know how long it takes them but at one point they reach Satoshi’s coffee shop. He wonders if Satoshi is going to make him coffee now, but nothing alike. Instead Satoshi leads him to the back of the shop, to a room with pictures. “This is your atelier,” Jun mumbles.
Satoshi nods with a smile. He hands Jun a brush and a few canister with paint. “That’s my white wall. I will splash colour on it when I’m sad or nervous or happy. Then paint it white again, so that the next time I can start again.” He bites down on his lips. “Let’s paint?”
It should sound weirder than it does, but Jun finds himself nodding. It sounds like the best idea ever. He just goes with the flow, randomly splattering colours on the wall. Sho, you idiot, he thinks. Just how dense can a person be! Why did he never realize that Jun actually liked him!? He is so straight-forward about everything that he doesn’t realize that others might not be like that. That other people cannot just voice everything directly.
Sho likes his sister, he knew something was off from the moment on that Sho told him about the seemingly crazy woman he met. Then when they all met at the amusement park it got clear. Sho stopped meeting Jun because he fell in love with someone. He wants to be sincere to this person.
Sho loves my sister.
Jun lets the brush drop on the floor and gets down on his knees, covering his eyes with his forearm and crying into it.
“Jun,” Satoshi says before he can feel Satoshi kneel next to him and pull him into a comforting hug. He rubs his back soothingly. Jun lets it happen. It’s been ages since he was truly able to rely on someone.

Nino coughs violently while he follows Masaki through the whole building. The party is still on and going. “Where is Satoshi?” Masaki mumbles. “This is weird. He is nowhere to be found…”
“Maybe he went home already?” Nino tries to help, another cough shaking his body. Hell, it’s cold as fuck.
Masaki turns around, looking at him in worry. “Are you alright, Kazu?”
“Yes, sure,” Nino mumbles, before another coughing fit shakes his body. “I’m alright.” Shit his voice sounds hoarse and his throat burns.
Masaki turns his attention towards him completely, reaching out his hand to touch Nino’s forehead. Nino blushes at that gesture. “You are burning,” Masaki states in horror. “Oh my god, let’s get you out of here!”
“But your brother…” Nino stutters. “Didn’t you want to find him?”
“I can write him later, he will understand.” Masaki frowns. “Or are you so eager to meet my brother?”
“Not at all,” Nino coughs. “I don’t want to meet anyone.”
Masaki looks at him softly, taking off his blazer and pulling it over Nino’s shoulders. Then he leads him to one of the chairs, sitting him down there. “You wait here,” he orders. “I’ll go and tell Sho-kun that we are leaving. Don’t move.”
Nino nods obediently. It’s not like he feels he can move anyways. Or wants to. Masaki hurries away and Nino closes his eyes, the voices from the rooms next to him are dimmed, like they are far away, mingling together to one sound. Like the waves of an ocean.
“Kazu-chan!”
When Nino opens his eyes he is surprised to see Masaki back again – wow, he was fast wasn’t he? Or did he just lose track of time? – and Sho is with him.
Sho feels his forehead. “You really are burning hot. Let’s get you to the hospital.”
Nino’s eyes widen. “No!” he exclaims, immediately clasping his throat. Shit, talking hurts.
“This was not a suggestion or question,” Sho says firmly, eyes narrowed. It’s the look he has when he doesn’t accept any arguing or talking back. “I’m taking you to the hospital for a swift check-up. We’ll buy meds then and take you home as fast as possible.”
Nino feels miserable. “But it’s your party…”
“And you are my cousin,” Sho interrupts him. “You are more important!”
Out of the corner of his eyes he sees Masami watching them. If she didn’t like Sho already, she is going to fall for him now, he thinks. He is happy for Sho. Sho has never been in love, he told him, not since High School, when he was with his senpai and the latter basically used him and threw him away. Sho told him about it once.
It makes him feel even worse though for disrupting their date. To his utmost relief Masaki jumps to his help. “You know, I could stay with Kazu-kun then,” he offers. “I originally wanted to take him home anyways. And it’s not like I’m going to stay here.”
“Won’t your brother be worried if you leave?”
Masaki shakes his head. “I just checked the jackets at the entrance and his isn’t here. It seems like he and sensei already left.”
“Jun left?” Sho asks in surprise, exchanging a surprised glance with Masami. “And your brother too?”
Satoshi likes Jun, Nino thinks, it’s the way he looks at Jun all the time. To his surprise though the realisation doesn’t make his stomach clench. It’s just… easy to accept it all of a sudden. Satoshi likes Jun. And Jun likes Sho.
Nino’s mind and blood freezes for a second. Wait a moment… what did he just think? His sickness is probably influencing his mind.
But then… no, it makes sense.
And Sho likes Jun’s sister. Nino just hopes that Masaki doesn’t like Jun. Like, shit is this complicated. His head hurts.
“I’m taking you to the hospital. End of discussion,” Sho states. “Then I’ll take you home. And then-“ Before Nino can complain, he raises his hand to stop him. “If the doctor tells me you can stay at home alone with Masaki and if I feel like I can let you alone, I might consider coming back.” He looks at Masami. “Would you meanwhile please watch everything here? I’m giving you a call as soon as I know if Kazu is alright. I’m sorry for burdening you.”
“Not at all,” Masami says immediately, a gentle smile gracing her lips. “I will entertain everyone here and explain to them what happened. You just do what’s necessary.”
Sho gets up, taking her hand and squeezing it. “Thank you,” he says softly.
Well, at least someone here hit the jackpot, Kazu thinks. He can’t say that about himself. Or Jun. Or Satoshi. But Sho is definitely out of the game. Maybe it’s selfish to all the other people involved, but it makes him happy that Sho is happy.
A/N: Chapter 5. And Sho and Masami seem to be getting serious! Meanwhile NIno and Masaki are shamelessly flirting without realizing it :D And Jun needs someone to comfort him, right?

I'm happy for Sho-san, even if he must be not aware yet. Masaki and Nino also doing great, just a little push, and they'll be great! As for Satoshi...good luck, you still need to make Jun fall for you. But, i think it's just need a little more time...

The development on Sho and Masami is really going well and Aimiya served as very helpful matchmakers! I just hope that Jun can make his feelings reach Sho and for the latter to at least realize them. I'm sure he did value Jun as a friend even though all the physicality between them didn't mean anything to him. I think it won't be that hard for Jun to accept it, though. Sho fell in love with the right woman! It's his sister after all. It'll be more heartbreaking to see Sho with somebody else, right? How sad but.... thankfully Satoshi was there! He will definitely be more than willing to be with Jun and make him happy again (and of course I'm really looking forward to the Juntoshi moments kyaaaaaaaa <3!)
It seems that all the complicated feelings that everyone wasn't aware of are now spinning inside Nino's head. I love it! Hahhahah! Nino, despite of his sickness, was still able to read everything. He's such a genius and I love it when he said “What’s wrong with liking you? As far as I’m concerned you are a pretty good catch!” Hahahhaah omg I was squealing. I can already imagine Aiba giggling in his head. Furthermore, it was indicated that he didn't feel hurt about Satoshi liking Jun. I think he was never attracted to Satoshi like how he thought he was. He was just unaware that it was actually Masaki! Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay! Thanks for the update dear! <3

Sho and Masami are really getting closer now, and I think they might start dating for real soon... But Jun needs to somehow come clean with his feelings for Sho and then do something about these feelings. Then maybe he will be able to open up to someone new (*coughs* Satoshi) Satoshi is alread there for him and at his side <3
