Genre: romance, AU (college/work/coffeeshop), love-hexagon you could say^^
Plot: Nino, Masaki’s best friend and co-student, has a crush on Masaki’s older brother Satoshi since forever. Satoshi however, a young barista, loves Masaki’s university lecturer Matsumoto, who is a regular in his coffeeshop. But Jun has a friends with benefits thing with his former senpai Sho. Sho however, a young lawyer, has never believed in love, until he falls in love with Masami, a young pet shop owner. Masami however laid her eyes on the cute guy Masaki, who helps in her shop sometimes. And Masaki? He can’t see Nino the same anymore ever since that night two years ago…

yukitsubute !!!!!!!!!! I hope you will like this story! (I tried to go for a different main pair this time - I have never written Aimiya for you after all!
Masaki wraps a blanket around Nino’s body, covering his body to make him feel warm. They chatted for hours, and at one point Masaki realized Nino was getting more and more tired. His eyes half closed, and his concentration getting less and less. Masaki helped him up and supported him on his way to his bedroom.
Now he is almost dozing off in his bed.
“Sleep a bit,” Masaki says softly.
Nino grabs his hand before he can move it away. “Are you staying?” he asks.
Masaki blushes. “Do you want me to stay?”
Nino nods. “Please stay.” Masaki’s heart makes a leap of joy. He is about to grab a pillow and lie down on the floor, when Nino tugs him closer. “Are you an idiot?” Nino mumbles. “Why the floor?”
“Don’t you mind?”
Nino smiles, his eyes weirdly watery from the fever. “Come,” he says drowsily.
Masaki climbs into the bed, wondering why he is so nervous now. He has slept in a bed with Nino one million times before. He gets pulled out of his thoughts, when he realizes that Nino is shaking slightly. “Kazu, are you alright?”
“Cold.”
“That’s the fever,” Masaki says softly, rubbing Nino’s arm soothingly. “You just took your meds, it’s going to take a while but soon the fever will go down again.”
Nino nods, but doesn’t say anything.
Instinctively Masaki wraps his arms around him, hugging him close to his body and trying to give him as much from his own body warmth as possible.
“Thank you,” Nino breaths out.
Masaki leans his head against Nino’s. He doesn’t mind that Nino is sick and that he might get sick too. His body and health are pretty strong. He licks his lips nervously. Maybe now is a good moment? “Hey Kazu, I wanted to tell you something…”
To his surprise though Nino doesn’t answer. It’s only then that Masaki realizes he fell asleep. He sighs slightly. Well, with Nino being sick and feverish it probably wasn’t the right moment for confessions anyways.

Sho is shocked to say the least. He always was the smart kid in school, fast learner, top marks at university, educated, well-spoken, and now he realizes he just is the guy who doesn’t get anything. How could he be so dense!?
“Social intelligence,” he mumbles.
Nino looks at him in surprise. He looks better again. His fever gone completely, only his running nose and his coughing are still bothering him. “What?”
“Do you think I have problems with understanding others’ feelings?” Sho wants to know.
Nino looks at him quietly, almost nervously. “What do you mean?”
“Like, read between the lines. Or understand what someone wants to tell me without using words. Understand what someone feels without said person writing it on a blinking advertisement and holding it above their head and yelling it out at the same time.” He looks at Nino insistently. “Be brutally honest, Kazu. I need someone who tells me directly.”
“Yes,” Kazu says after a while, shifting around nervously. “I mean, you know I love you. You are probably the only family member I like, and I personally understand you and know how to say things so that you will get the emotional message, but others…”
“Others like Jun won’t.”
“He told you he likes you?” Nino asks in surprise.
Sho’s eyes snap open. “You knew!? Did he tell you?”
“He is my university professor,” Nino mumbles. “Of course he didn’t tell me. But I just had the feeling…”
“God, everyone else got it, except for me!”
“I wouldn’t go that far though,” Nino tells him. “I just have a good feeling for people’s moods. Unless it is about myself. Really. No one knows that he might like you.” He pauses. “Maybe Satoshi-kun does. He sees things from an artistic viewpoint, he also creates his pastries based on feelings.”
“I’m socially an idiot,” Sho says in frustration. “Maybe I’m autistic.”
“You are not autistic,” Nino rolls his eyes.
“So, I’m just ignorant?”
Nino blushes. “A bit…,” he stutters.
Sho lets out a deep sigh. “Jun is my friend,” he finally says. “I’ve known him since High School. Throughout all the bad things that happened, he was always there. To be honest, I would say he probably is the only real friend I have. To imagine I didn’t realize…”
“I know,” Nino says soothingly.
“I’ve been hitting on his sister while he was there.”
“Yes.”
Sho rubs his temples. “Without her I wouldn’t even have realized that.”
“You told her?”
“I told her that Jun and I were friends with benefits before,” Sho admits. “I wanted to be honest to her. I actually thought she knew already…”
Nino rolls his eyes. “There are things you don’t tell your sister, like when you have been sleeping with the guy she is dating, even if it was before she started dating him.” He pauses. “But you told her?”
“Yes, I wanted to be honest.”
“See? You are not a complete social catastrophe,” Nino points out. “It was the right decision to tell her everything. And how did she react?”
Sho snorts. “She blamed herself instead of blaming me.”
Nino grins. “She is like Masaki.”
Sho looks at him. “I cannot date his sister without talking to him. I cannot go out with her before he actually approves. I just can’t do that to him, no matter if I like her or not.”
“I know,” Nino says quietly. “This is your strong point.”
“What? Wanting to talk?”
“No, wanting to do things right,” Nino explains. “You might not get what others think or feel, but at least you are honest.”
“An honest idiot?” Sho wants to know with a small smile.
Nino giggles.
Sho leans back with a sigh. He really needs to change that about himself. Being ignorant is not an excuse for hurting someone. And not realizing their feelings isn’t an excuse either.

Masaki comes home to the smell of miso soup and… he sniffs… pasta? Meat? He exchanges a curious glance with Nino who is finally healthy enough again to visit him. “This is new!”
“Totally,” Nino agrees. “Normally it’s sweet chocolate scented or smells like cookies.”
To their utmost surprise they find Satoshi at the salon, in front of his laptop. “You are not cooking?” Masaki asks in disbelief.
“No, in fact I was banned from the kitchen,” Satoshi says with a grin. “Evil!”
“You were so close to hurting yourself with that knife!” a different voice can be heard, and Jun’s head peeks into the salon. He is wearing glasses and has clipped his hair back. Masaki stares at him in disbelief.
“No this is really new,” Nino whispers in a low voice.
Jun finally realizes they are here too. He smiles at them. “Do you guys want to eat something too? We have miso soup and seafood pasta. You can eat with me and Satoshi-kun, right?”
Masaki glances at his brother, who subtly shakes his head and looks at him through begging eyes. “We would love to,” Masaki stutters. “But we have a project to prepare and need to get to it asap.”
Jun nods knowingly. “I understand but you young guys need something nutritional to eat. I’ll bring you something to your room then?”
Masaki’s head perks up at the prospect of getting food. He is more than eager to eat something that smells so nice. For his brother’s sake he was ready to ignore his baser instincts, but there is nothing wrong with eating Jun’s food in his room. “That would be lovely!” he exclaims. “Right Nino?”
Nino nods violently. “I’m already getting hungry by the smell alone.”
“Thank you, Jun-san!” Masaki grins, grabs Nino’s arm and pulls him along to his room. When they close the door behind them, they exchange a glance and giggle. “Oh my god,” Masaki breaths out.
“What’s happening?” Nino squeals. “I mean how and when?”
“Are they together?” Masaki wonders.
“I don’t think so,” Nino shifts around nervously. “You know, Jun actually likes Sho.”
“But Sho likes Masami-san?”
“Yeah.”
“She is Jun-san’s sister,” Masaki comments with a confused frown. Then his eyes widen. “Oh my god!”
“Yeah.”
Masaki blinks. “And Satoshi…” He smiles. “He likes Jun-san, which is why he always let him taste his pastries before. Do you think he knows that Jun-san likes Sho?”
“They both disappeared together from the party,” Nino tilts his head. “And your brother can be pretty attentive, if he wants to. I’m sure he knows.”
“Does he face a chance?” Masaki asks curiously, secretly crossing his fingers for Satoshi to get lucky and be able to win the heart of the person he loves.
“Well, Sensei is in the kitchen, cooking for him. So… if he is patient, he might have a chance,” Nino comments carefully. “I think Sho and Sensei just need closure. Then they can move on. Looks like Sensei already accepted his sister’s relationship.”
That might be good for Satoshi. Masaki almost feels a bit envious about it, he himself takes forever to make a move on Nino or admit his feelings. He has liked Nino since quite a while now, his feelings getting stronger each day. He has believed that Nino forgot about what happened at the party, but it just so happens that he remembers, unfortunately though the wrong person.
Masaki isn’t sure how to tell him. Wouldn’t it be weird and awkward to tell him now?
There is a knock against his door. “Food,” Jun says with a smile.
Looking at the delicious looking food, Masaki decides that complicated thoughts have to wait for later.

Masami hugs Jun and knocks him over the moment he comes to the pet shelter. He squeals in shock, dropping to the ground together with her, and in the process pulling Masaki and Satoshi down too.
“I’m so sorry, Jun-chan!” she exclaims with teary eyes. “I didn’t know you like Sho-kun! You had him before me!”
Jun feels his cheeks flushing. Out of the corner of his eyes he can see how Satoshi tries not to look amused and Masaki just grins openly. Great, here goes his dignity. “It’s okay,” he mumbles, patting her head, hoping she will stop her rant and he will get his pride back. “And I didn’t have him. Not really. Besides he doesn’t belong to anyone.”
“But you liked him for far longer than I do!”
“So what?” Jun frowns. “I liked him before you, but unfortunately it doesn’t work like that. Are you willing to just give him up because of that?”
She blushes, letting go of his neck. “I really like him,” she admits quietly. “But I told him I can’t go out with him if you disapprove.”
“You told him!” Jun asks in horror. “He knows I like him?”
“Of course I did! It came as such a shock to know you had an affair with him. I mean, I know you don’t have casual affairs.”
“He told you THAT!?” Jun stares at her in horror. “Are you two stupid, why would you talk about all this embarrassing stuff? Like… there is nothing more embarrassing anymore!”
“He wanted to be honest to me, it seems,” Masami explains.
Yes, that sounds like Sho.
“Oh fuck,” Jun sighs. “He is such a drama queen. He will get on my nerves endlessly now.”
She giggles. “He really is dramatic.”
“You really like him?” Jun wants to know
She blushes. “Yes. I mean, I know he was a playboy before, but…he is sincere, you know?” Jun nods, he knows. “And his emotions are so blunt and real, and he is silly, I love how silly he can be. I can see him making stupid dad jokes in a few years. You know…like ‘We are driving to a maze, isn’t that a~maze~ing…hohoho’. He cooked for me once, and failed completely, but it’s cute that he tried. He is cute.”
“I want you to be happy,” Jun says honestly, squeezing her hand.
“But I want you to be happy too!”
“Yeah,” Jun grins. “But we can’t be happy with the same guy, you know?”
“You really don’t mind me dating him?” she asks sceptically.
Jun tilts his head. “That’s not true either, obviously I mind. At least give me a while to adapt to it.” He pauses. “But if you give him up, it wouldn’t change his feelings for me. I would still be miserable. And on top of that you would be miserable too. There is no win-win situation for me. You just go out with him and see where it’s leading you, and tell him if he dares to even look at another woman or guy, I’m going to kick his ass hard.” He pauses. “Just don’t bring him home please.”
She pouts. “I have that much common sense, really.”
“Man,” she sighs, leaning against the wall. “Why is our life always so complicated?” She pauses. “Will you talk to him?” she begs. “He said he tried to reach you since yesterday, but you won’t answer your phone.”
“My phone,” Jun blinks before blushing. “I completely forgot to check it.”
“You forgot your phone!?” Masami breaths out in disbelief. “Who are you and what did you do to my brother?”
“Shup up,” Jun grins and shoves her aside. He gets up and takes a painting brush. “Can we continue our work?”

“They accepted me!!” Masaki jumps around like crazy, making Nino laugh. “I got the internship! I can’t believe it!”
“I’m so happy for you!” Nino says sincerely.
“It’s all thanks to you,” Masaki exclaims, wrapping his arms around Nino and squeezing him. Nino blushes at that gesture, his heart jumping nervously. What’s happening now? Masaki pulls back a bit, a blissful smile on his lips. His eyes are caramel-brown. So beautiful. “Thank you,” Masaki mumbles.
“Anytime,” Nino manages to breathe out.
He knows he should let go of Masaki’s waist, his arms wrapped around it. He knows he is holding him in his arms a little bit too long for it to be explained as a friendly embrace. Still he isn’t able to remove his hands from Masaki’s body.
And now? What is he going to do now?
There is a knock against the door that makes them both draw apart like they have been forcefully woken up from a dream. It’s one of their co-students and friends. They are working on a project together.
Nino’s heart is still racing. He tries to steal a glance at Masaki, just to see the same slightly guilty and surprised expression on his face. It either means Masaki feels exactly the same or he feels horrified what almost happened. In a bad way.
A/N: lol Someone needs to help Aimiya, I think. They are taking forever to confess to each other. Sho and Masami seem to be on a good path though, and Jun seems to want to move on too...

Last, when the olders doing great and i'n so proud of them, here we are...aimiya become two idiots. They need something or someone to push them, really...

I think Satoshi needs to a bit more patient, but his patience might pay off ;-)

Awww that brother-sister relationship between Jun and Masami. At least now Jun is approving the relationship. I'm cackling at the potential dad joke with Sho XD
