Title: Beyond the night: Chapter 3
Pairing: Sho/Jun/Ohno, obviously Aiba and Nino appear too. Jun needs his bf Nino so that they can bitch about their stupid mates. :D
Rating: NC-17, will contain lots of interesting stuff ;-)
Genre: romance, smut, vampire!AU, did I mention smut?
Plot: Sho and Satoshi, two high-ranked vampires and companions for years, miraculously share the same mate. One fateful night they meet Jun, a vampire who is rather new to this world. The soulmate bond between them immediatly binds the three of them to each other naturally. Jun is a young vampire, slightly overstrained with the sudden intense bond between them, his mates' protectiveness of him, with life as a vampire and with his body and senses still adapting to his new life. With Sho and Satoshi being old and skilled in comparison to him, he feels even more at a loss and wishes to find a place in this world too, to be on eye-level with them.
Note: This is a belated birthday present for my lovely [personal profile] learashi <3 This is late, I'm so sorry, but now that I have finished a few chapters, I think I can dare to start posting it ^^

Hello my love,

miss you already!

How are you doing? Did you sleep well? Watch out for yourself while I’m away.

And call or write me when you are awake!

Love, Satoshi

Jun wants to be mad at them for leaving him for weeks, again, and not even understanding his issues. It’s not about them having work abroad, it’s about him not having anything to do. Still, when he reads the message Satoshi sent him right after he arrived, his chest feels so warm.

The second message he receives is from Sho. He sends him a selfie – unfortunately Sho’s intellect and smart brain stops in front of smartphones, ridiculous useless modern devices as he calls them, and he only managed to make a selfie of half of his forehead and parts of his nose, beneath it he wrote love you love you love you love you. Jun chuckles. He can be so silly.

He writes them back immediately, before getting up and going after his daily routine: namely not having to do anything.

~~~
Jun protects his eyes with sunglasses when someone rings at the door. He wonders who it is visiting him now. Or rather, who wants to visit Satoshi or Sho. Apparently someone didn’t realize they are at work abroad. Jun sighs, his heart clenching. He doesn’t want to suffocate them or act like a child, but he feels so useless alone, and it makes him feel even worse that they don’t really take this feeling seriously. He loves them so much. Even without the bond between them, he would have loved them, he is sure, but they are just so much older, know more, and are more skilled… it makes him sad to think that he isn’t even close to be on the same level with them, and probably never will be.
Jun opens the door carefully, blinking when a young-looking guy squeezes past him and rushes into the corridor. “Jeez,” the guy breaths out. “I underestimated the evening sun. Thought I could make it from the taxi into the house without any issues.”
Jun clears his throat, trying not to panic over a random stranger, another vampire, being in his hallway – or rather in Satoshi’s and Sho’s, it’s still rather their place and not his, another thought that makes him swallow hard. “Excuse me, but Sho-san and Satoshi-san are out of town.”
The guy raises his eyebrows in surprise. He has a pretty face. He looks young, like a teen, on first glance, but his eyes do show his age. He is probably around Jun’s age. “Why would I want to visit them?” He frowns. “They are just some other annoying super-old vampires who have not the slightest clue about how we feel.”
“We?” Jun blinks, slowly beginning to feel interested.
The guy reaches out his hand, smiling brightly when Jun shakes it carefully. “Ninomiya Kazunari. Call me Nino. And let me guess,” he takes off his shoes, taking the slippers Jun offers him. He wonders if it’s alright to let a complete stranger into the house while neither Sho nor Satoshi are here, but then… Nino is already here anyways. “You are also stuck with one or two stupid mates who have a shitty job abroad and think fucking you before they go and sweet-talk you is enough for you to feel secure and confident?”
Jun’s eyes widen. He nods carefully. Pretty accurate summary. “It sounds like a situation I know…”
Nino nods with a frown. “God, I’m so annoyed, and that stupid bond makes me so dependent on him, not enough that I love him and all and that I have issues with finding something to do… there is still the bond that makes me sad when he is sad.”
“He?” Jun asks curiously.
“Masaki,” Nino states. “My mate. He is working with your Satoshi-san.”
“Ah,” Jun’s eyes widen. “So they set us up?”
“Totally,” Nino snorts. “Masaki was being all subtle about it, or so he thought, like: Could you look after this young vampire, he doesn’t know many other vampires, please, it would mean so much to me if you could help him. In reality he just wanted me to have some company.”
Jun snorts. “And Satoshi told him to ask you because he wanted me to have company.”
“They don’t really get it,” Nino pouts. “I mean, sure the sex is good, but it would be nice to have them around for more than two weeks.”
“Or to be allowed to go with them,” Jun points out carefully, leading Nino to the living room.
“It’s like we are nice little objects they keep in their house and take out of the cupboard when they are back,” Nino complains.
Jun chuckles. “It feels like it sometimes, but they do love us.”
“Yes, at least that we can be certain of,” Nino smiles. “They are just too old to understand.” He sighs in frustration. “And meanwhile we are stuck with figuring things out.”
Jun nods, hurrying to the kitchen and bringing them some food. He eyes Nino carefully. “You are not in the need of blood now, are you?”
“Nope.”
Jun smiles happily. “Then how about something to eat? I made it yesterday. But it’s kinda sad to eat it alone. You know, Sho loves food, he stuffs his cheeks with everything I cook, and it’s kinda cute, and-“ he pauses, realizing he has been rambling. “Sorry.”
Nino grins. “If you feel like you are being embarrassing or pathetic, blame the bond!”
Jun chuckles. “Okay, I will.” He grins. “I’m Jun by the way, but your mate probably already told you. I’m sure he knows more about me than I do,” he adds with a smirk.
“Yeah, maybe,” Nino laughs. “So, how do you feel about the situation?” he wants to know. “You haven’t been a vampire for long, am I right?”
“I feel pretty lost,” Jun admits. There is something about Nino that makes him instantly trust him. He doesn’t know what it is, but he just knows it’s there. “Like, I don’t know anything and can’t do anything.”
“Don’t you ever go out?” Nino wants to know. “Like… what do you enjoy? What do you like doing?”
Jun blushes furiously. How embarrassing… he has lost his creator pretty early and was supposed to figure things out on his own, until he met his mates. “I don’t know anyone, I also forgot a lot about my human life, which is why… and Satoshi-san and Sho-san are always worried when they aren’t here.”
Nino snorts. “They need to grow up about their feelings, really. And you have to stand up for yourself too. You have to do things and not rely on them for finding a solution for you.”
Jun tilts his head, letting Nino’s words sink in. He is right. Satoshi and Sho did promise him to help him find his purpose, but they are both really busy and time runs differently for them. He needs to learn to rely on himself too.
~~~

“Hello my hot and stunning mate!”

Jun grins when he hears Sho’s voice on the other end of the line. He loves how cheesy he can be, like now when he rambles on and on about how much he misses him and how everything looks boring and plain without Jun’s radiating colours around. Jun laughs. “Stop it,” he grins. “You are exaggerating.”

“Not at all,” Sho says, and Jun can almost hear the pout in his voice. “I miss you so much. I can’t wait to hold you in my arms again. I wish I could kiss you now.”

“Hm,” Jun says. “You are not here though, so kissing would be difficult. And don’t dare to bite your phone again while you send me a kiss, just like last time.”

“I’m sorry,” Sho says, and he sounds genuinely sad. It makes Jun remember his talk with Nino again, about how his mates truly love him and deeply care for him, but probably can’t really see his issues because their place in life and their age are entirely different. “I’ll come back as soon as I can, I promise!”

“When will that be?” Jun asks curiously, already angling for his calendar to mark the date.

Sho is quiet which means he probably doesn’t know it himself. “Not longer than two weeks,” he finally admits.

“Wait a moment,” Jun frowns. “Didn’t you first say that you are only staying for three weeks maximum? Now it’s four weeks? Since when do you know?”

“Jun,” Sho stutters. “It’s…”

“You know it since a few days already, right?” Jun huffs. “Sho-san, we are talking on the phone every day. You could have mentioned it!”

“I didn’t know how,” Sho admits quietly. “I’m so sorry, Jun, I’m trying to cut it shorter, I promise.”

Jun sighs in frustration. “Well, you can’t help your work. And  don’t want you to suffocate in stress. Just tell me next time. Satoshi is also not coming back before two weeks.” He pauses, trying to be as mature as possible in his reaction. “Don’t worry. I’ll hang out with Nino-kun meanwhile.”

“Nino-kun?” Sho asks, sounding alarmed all of a sudden and a little bit nervous. “Who is that?”

“A friend,” Jun explains shortly. “He is the mate of Satoshi-san’s friend. We are meeting regularly. I have to go now, he is dropping by in a minute.”

~~~
He and Nino go out. Jun decides he needs to change something after his talk with Sho. He is pissed that Sho didn’t tell him anything. It’s not Sho’s fault that he has to work, actually Jun does feel proud of his mates for being that important and well-respected, but jeez, he can talk to him! At the same time he immediately felt completely at loss when he realized that he would be alone for two more weeks, like… he can’t even think of what to do when he is all by himself.
Which is why he decided he has to change something about himself.
“You are kidding me?” Nino rolls his eyes. “Old vampires,” he complains. “At least Masaki always feels so guilty… he is kinda able to read the mood. How about your mates?”
Jun blushes. “Well… reading the mood might not be their forte,” he admits quietly. Sho and Satoshi are both very sweet and caring, and fuss over him like crazy, putting him above everything else, but they don’t quite understand why he is upset sometimes. Although it’s not necessarily their fault that he is feeling bad.
“So, where are we going to?” Nino asks, obviously faking motivation. By now Jun knows that he isn’t the most ambitious party-tiger within them.
“How about going to this new pizzeria?” Jun offers, smiling when Nino’s eyes light up.
Nino laughs all of a sudden. “Okay, J,” he chuckles. “We’ll have pizza and then go to one of the clubs you want to visit so badly but don’t dare to go to on your own. Besides your old boring mates don’t know anything about clubs either, do they?”
Jun tries not to laugh. “Satoshi likes nature,” he finally explains. “And Sho… well, he likes to stay at home with a good book and something to eat.”
“Cute,” Nino states dryly. “Masaki is the same.”
“That’s maybe why he is good friends with Satoshi,” Jun points out. He smiles brightly. “Many people like Satoshi,” he adds proudly. “He is calm and composed, and seems to be dozing off often, but he is always there when needed! Just like Sho. He looks rough, but is so kind.”
Nino chuckles. “You are funny, and cute.”
Jun blushes. “Don’t say that,” he stutters, making Nino laugh even more.
“Come,” Nino says before Jun can even complain. “Let’s eat something there, and then go to a club. Can’t believe I’m doing this. For your sanity, J.”
~~~

“The music is too loud,” Nino complains.

Jun just grins. “Now you are sounding like an old vampire.”

“Jeez, it’s just… why is this supposed to be fun? How?”

Jun laughs slightly, suddenly in a good mood. He pulls Nino with him on the dance floor, moving his body to the music, and for a moment he is indeed able to switch off his mind completely. He can just dance and feel free. It’s only when Nino grabs his arm and tells him he wants something to drink, that he follows him to the bar.

Nino stares at him in amusement. “Didn’t know you can be that seductive.”

Jun blinks and orders two gin tonic for them. “Excuse me.”

“The room felt hot when you were dancing,” Nino comments mercilessly. He nods towards the crowd. “Didn’t you realize how they were looking at you?”

Jun follows his gaze, seeing how random people are staring and smiling at him. He blushes. “Why are they looking at us?”

“Because they find you hot,” an unknown voice interrupts them. It’s the barkeeper with their drinks. “I’m Shun by the way, nice to meet you.” He chuckles. “You should come more often. If word goes round that two beautiful guys like you are here, we’ll sure be the number one club soon.”

Jun tilts his head, not sure if Shun’s humour sits right with him, but he doesn’t seem to have evil intentions either. He is also not checking Jun or Nino out for real or anything alike. Just making random conversation.

“It’s a pity that our band tonight cancelled. We have live music sometimes. You could have danced,” Shun states.

Jun blinks. “Live music? Such a pity, I love dancing. I went to ballet classes when I was younger.”

Nino looks at him in surprise. “What? I asked you before about your talents and hobbies, remember? Why didn't you mention it? That’s actually cool.”

“I kinda forgot about it,” Jun stutters. “My… eh… father was into this stuff, so I got to practise a bit.” He looks up when he realizes Shun hasn’t said anything at all. Indeed the latter

is looking at him in surprise, and suddenly he smirks.

“I just have an awesome idea,” Shun states with a bright grin.

Poor them to have old and busy vampire(s) as mate. But I like the fact that they can become good friend. What's Shun's idea?
