Title: Delusive affairs

Rating: NC-17

Warnings: Well, there is smut :-)
Genre: office!AU (as in: office for an erotic magazine), romance, a tiny bit angst but really, it’s more on the light and fun side!
Summary: Jun likes shojo and shonen-ai anime, cooking, his job at an erotic magazine and helikes despises Sho, even one year after Sho that jerk, who is also his editor in chief!, walked out on him and left him. Now one year later Jun has changed quite a bit, he works a lot, still enjoys his hobbies and happily goes for harmless flings with his friends and co-workers. He is so busy that he doesn’t even realize how Sho might have changed too.

Jun closes his laptop with a sigh. He has just finished his article about the top 10 perfect, exciting places for outdoor sex, including advice and do's and don’ts – with a little warning for the beach one, because sand can be nasty. He knows that from the one time he tried it out with Ohno – field research of course – when they had to stop midway because the terrible sand was basically everywhere, tickling, itching, annoying. Bath mat and towel need to be big enough.
He is pretty content with this article. It’s not bad at all. And on top of that he has finished it early, which means – Jun glances at his watch happily – he can make it to his favourite anime right now. He could even work on that new set of perfumed candles he wants to make – he bought a book for that, in search for another creative hobby.
During the last year Jun has learned a lot of things. First of all, he has learned that he is actually pretty good at his work if he tries hard. Second, Kare Kano never loses its charm, third Sailor Moon aged more than a few years, fourth the new Avengers movie is cool, fifth Aiba should work more on his cosplay. And sixth he is better off as a single man.
It was his fault anyway for listening to these sweet words like Fall with me. Let’s jump together whispered during heated nights and tender moments. He is so stupid for believing them – he knows that now. Because after months of believing and having faith, and falling and jumping, he was the one left behind
One year later Jun has learned that he needs to move on and not bother others with his feelings, he has learned that it’s best not to fall at all. Unless it’s Iron Man or Angelina Jolie of course, or his all-time favourite anime Lovely Complex. It’s perfectly fine to fall for them!
He nods to himself and hides underneath the huge blanket with Howl’s Moving Castle print theme. Then he switches on the TV. Everything is fine the way it is now.
~~~
A glance at his watch tells Jun he just made it in time. Jun sighs, puts his sunglass on and steps out of the subway. It’s not really sunny today but he really is not the morning type of person, so sunny or not, he needs his sunglasses.
When he steps into the building in Kyoto’s main street where their office is located, he stumbles over Aiba. The latter waves at him enthusiastically and it does draw the first smile from Jun this morning. A natural reaction to Aiba. He approaches his friend who is still sitting in the small cafeteria, having his breakfast, which includes a huge amount of pancakes with whipped cream, fresh bananas and hot chocolate sauce.
Jun pauses at the sight. “You know we are filming the ad today, right?”
Aiba blinks a few times, then he shrugs. “So what?” he asks before he digs into his pancakes again and offers a spoon full of it to Jun.
Jun sighs and sits down next to his friend. Only when Aiba continues wavering and circling his spoon around Jun’s lips, he takes the offered piece of pancake. Ugh, impossibly sweet. Jun coughs at the sugar rush. “It’s semi-nude.”
“What’s semi-nude?”
“The filming for the ad!”
Aiba still looks at him in soft bewilderment. Then he smiles. “So what? It’s always semi-nude. We are an erotic magazine after all.” He pauses, squeezing Jun’s hand. “Aren’t you used to it by now? I know you were the last one to join our magazine two years ago and it’s all about sex stuff and it might not be what you-”
“Masaki-kun,” Jun stops him before he can continue his rather embarrassing ramble. He remembers pretty well when and how he joined the magazine and the fact that he met Sho there and fell for him and spent exactly 6 months, 3 weeks and 2 days with him. Fall with me, Jun. Liar! Jun bends his head forward until his nose almost touches Aiba’s cheek. “I’m very much used to it by now,” he mumbles, giving his voice a certain edge so that it sounds huskier than usual. He grins when Aiba blushes at the sudden contact. Then Jun pokes Aiba’s stomach. “Eating so many pancakes might blow your stomach up a little.” He grins. “And for our ad you need to look fit and slender.”
With that he gets up, ignoring the glare Aiba shoots at him and the way he mumbles Fucking tease.
~~~
“Where is Masaki-kun?” A deep frown accompanies Sho’s words. It’s basically the first thing Jun hears when he finally makes it into their office. Jun knows he actually wants to complain about Jun being late as well but as always he doesn’t dare to approach Jun directly. He hasn’t really yelled at him or reprimanded him in the last year. Feels weird. And unnatural. But Jun tries not to think about it. Sho didn’t want to jump back then, he didn’t want to fall. So, Sho is none of his business anymore!
So, Jun does what he normally does when it’s Sho, he mantra-like repeats that they are co-workers, he needs to suck it up and hence, he doesn’t react to the complaint at all. It’s really not worth his breath to say something about that.
“Where is Masaki-kun?” Sho repeats once again, voice almost wary now, almost soft.
Jun lets out an exasperate sigh. The only reason he is not jumping at Sho immediately like he would usually do is probably because he is their editor in chief and doesn’t want to tick him off completely. They – as in Nino, Ohno and Aiba, because Jun himself really doesn’t mind – need him to be in a good mood today. Still, he can’t with his non-stop complaints. It just irks him to no end. “Good morning to you too,” Jun answers sweetly, showing Sho a particularly warm and soft smile.
Sho blinks in surprise, obviously taken aback by Jun’s different than usual approach. He opens his mouth like he wants to say something. Strike! Somewhere at the other corner of the room Nino is chuckling slightly.
~~~
In an office as small as theirs with only five steady fulltime workers work gets divided between all of them. They have to do it all – publish the magazine, write it, make the pics and add a view advertising videos. They are pretty proud to own that luxurious, top-notch erotic magazine which sells like crazy.
However, it also means always having to be prepared, always be ready to do stuff one doesn’t feel comfortable with. Not to have breakfast before a semi-nude video-shooting for example.
“Did you have breakfast!?”
Aiba’s cheeks are colored in a soft red-tone, when Sho has asked the inevitable. Jun sighs. He knew it. But Aiba wouldn’t be Aiba if he recovered pretty fast. “Don’t worry,” he grins. “I’ll still manage to look hot.”
“Hm,” Ohno muses. “You want to go for the sexy chubby image?”
“Who are you calling chubby!?” Aiba bursts. “I only had breakfast!”
“You mean a plate full of pancakes, with chocolate and whipped cream?” Nino teases. “I am surprised you really managed to eat it all.”
Aiba’s eyes darken at these words, his normally so soft features suddenly looking tensed and giving him an angry look. “Just because you like to live from air and sex, Nino, doesn’t mean that I-“
“We should probably start,” Jun intervenes before Aiba can continue his rant. He is probably about to say things he might feel sorry later on and then Nino will say things, he will be sorry later on. A vicious circle. It happened often enough for them to know that they have to stop these two when they start fighting about food and the way they eat or don’t eat.
“Yes,” Sho agrees, looking almost relieved now. “We should start. We’ll mix it up though. Masaki-kun, you and Satoshi-kun will shoot the condom commercial. Nino and Jun-kun will do the semi-nude vibrator commercial instead.”
Aiba sighs a bit, throwing a grumpy glance at Sho for taking him out of his so much anticipated vibrator commercial. But he is smart enough not to say anything. And half an hour later when they start the first commercial, he is completely into it again. He and Ohno are sitting opposite each other on the pink sofa of their office, Aiba holding up a package with the new strawberry-mint condoms, produces by one of their sponsors. He twinkles now. “It tastes like a whole ice-cream cup,” Aiba chirps and scoots closer to Ohno, pressing his lips against Ohno’s smile. Then he lets out happy sigh. “So good. You won’t want to stop blowing him~”
Ohno nods and turns his face towards the camera. “Saver sex,” he says earnestly, not changing his facial expression at all. “Be careful.”
And in unison: “ResistanceXXX. In all sizes.”
Sho, Nino and Jun exchange a glance. “It’s a bit like a chewing gum commercial,” Nino mumbles. “Shouldn’t it be a bit more… erotic?”
“That’s why we never let these two shoot together normally,” Sho sighs. “But, well, it’s all we have for now.”
~~~
Jun likes his work. And he likes to do his work properly. Maybe that’s what makes him and Sho as co-workers work, otherwise he might have already killed the other secretly. But he has to admit that Sho is a good director and has a good eye for what’s important and what looks good in their magazine.
“A little closer, Nino,” Sho mumbles and moves the camera – an investment they did a few months ago when their magazine started to sell really well and they decided to add videos to it, increasing the profit even more.
Nino leans back into Jun’s arms. He is skinnier than many other guys, almost too skinny, but there is something in his eyes that makes people forget that technically his body isn’t particularly erotic. Lascivious somehow. Jun wraps an arm around Nino’s hips, one of his legs curling around Nino. With deft fingers he angles for the little item behind him. The new ET500 Bulldog, a vibrator with a pretty huge size, but with little stimulating nobs around it.
Jun tilts his head, lips moving over Nino’s neck, until he reaches his ear. He looks at the camera directly now, kind of surprised to see how Sho is looking at him now, right into his eyes, a slight blush on his cheeks even. Jun shifts the vibrator between his fingers to show it to the audience properly. “For the little special adventure in your bedroom,” he says as seductively as possible, half into Nino’s ear, half towards the camera. There are little goosebumps on Nino’s arms all of a sudden. “With great power comes great responsibility.”
“And cut,” Sho calls.
Aiba is sitting the other round in his office chair, arms wrapped around the back of the chair, chin resting against it. “Wow,” he sighs. “So good.”
“Yeah, it was good,” Ohno raises his eyebrows and exchanges a glance with Sho. “It’s just-“
“Just what?” Jun asks sharply while he puts his trousers on again.
“Not sure how to say it.” Ohno shrugs. “But I’m getting almost hard watching you two.”
“Well,” Nino snorts. “Better than your chewing gum commercial from before!”
Aiba’s head snaps up. “What’s wrong with our commercial?”
“Everything,” Nino teases. “Looked like a commercial for a kindergarten birthday party.”
“What!? I even included the word blow!” Aiba stands up now, crossing his arms in defence.
A snicker. “Well, it could also be blowing out candles, right?”
Jun is glad for their distraction because Ohno’s words did embarrass him a little. He didn’t want it to go over the top like that. Like porn. “Don’t worry.” Jun turns his head, surprised that Sho approached him. It has to be the first time in a year that Sho dares to invade his personal space – not as his co-worker but just casual. The latter reaches out his hand, a cup with jasmine tea offered to Jun. “It’s a stunning commercial.”
“It’s not too pornographic?” Jun asks, feeling uncertain, too engulfed in this scene to realize he is talking to Sho aka Mr. insensitive, chipmunk-smile, but with nice abs, stupid Sho-san.
“Not at all,” Sho smiles a bit. “It was very hot and erotic, yes. But it’s supposed to be like that.” He grins. “You won’t want to advertise a kindergarten birthday party or chewing gum after all.”
Jun smiles slightly at that. Sho making jokes is rare. He nods and takes the offered cup. When he is about to turn away, Sho coughs a little. “Jun-kun?”
Jun turns around. “Hm?”
For a moment Sho looks like he is about to say something but then he turns his head away, shaking it slightly. “Nothing.”
~~~
“What was that between you and Sho-chan today?” Nino’s voice is dripping with curiosity. “The tension. Like you suddenly got along again.” He shifts his hand a few inches, the vibrator moving against Jun’s prostate all of a sudden.
“Oh my god,” Jun breaths out, head dropping to the side.
“So what was that weird tension?” Nino asks, lips twitching slightly as he leans down to kiss Jun’s neck.
“Can’t we talk about that later?” Jun asks, gasping for air when Nino circles the freaking vibrator in a particularly slow and teasing way.
“But you never give answers in a normal situation,” Nino smiles warily. “It’s only during sex that I have a chance to get some secrets from you. Should I switch it on?”
Screw this stupid new vibrator. It really holds up to his promises, Jun thinks. Great power, indeed! Good that they made such an erotic advertisement for that. He throws his head back when Nino complies his threat and switches the vibrator on. “Cool,” Nino mumbles. “It even glows in the dark.” He turns it teasingly before he pushes it further inside Jun’s hole.
“Fuck you,” Jun huffs, gasping for air when Nino just continues the teasing. His resolve crumbles. “I don’t know.” He breathes out. “Sho suddenly talked to me, completely normal, like he never hurt my feelings. Like nothing ever happened.”
Nino’s eyes basically snap wide-open at that and he looks at Jun directly now, through these caramel brown eyes. “Sorry,” he mumbles and scoots closer, lying down next to Jun now. “Didn’t want to push you that much.”
Jun wraps his arms around Nino and pulls him closer. “You are too thin,” he analyses.
Nino chuckles. “Is you complaining about that my punishment for getting on your nerves right now?”
“Wait till I cook for you tonight, then we’ll see,” Jun teases back. He bites into Nino’s earlobe teasingly. “Now it’s my turn for letting you try that vibrator on me.”
“Yeah,” Nino chuckles. “I know.” He sits up again and on Jun’s lap. When Jun angles for the lube, the latter shakes his head. “Already prepared myself before.”
“Condoms?” Jun asks.
Nino grins and angles for the new package of strawberry-mint condoms. Jun laughs slightly at that. It reminds him why this here is so easy, why it’s so uncomplicated to meet Nino like that. It’s simply fun, nothing complicated between them.
Nino doesn’t remove the vibrator from Jun’s butt while he rides his cock thoroughly. Sometimes he reaches back, twitching the item just enough to make Jun’s mind go crazy, making it impossible for Jun to take the lead completely, unlike he normally does. Jun secretly enjoys Nino taking the initiative like that. Feels different and intense. It’s only when Nino approaches his own orgasm that Jun angles for Nino’s neglected erection, pumping it frantically. It doesn’t take them long to come and soon Nino is bent over him, moaning and sighing messily, body shivering slightly.
Jun closes his eyes as his own orgasm basically washes over him, fingers and toes curling slightly, he grasps the blanket tightly, breathing out incoherent words until the world around him goes white.
“Wow,” Jun mumbles after he has come down from his orgasm. He stretches a bit, removing the vibrator carefully. “You really know what to do.”
“Is that a compliment or an insult?” Nino asks lazily, dropping down next to Jun on his back.
“Definitely not an insult.”
“But not a compliment either?” Nino grins.
Jun shrugs. “Depends on how you define compliment.”
Nino just chuckles. When he turns his head, his eyes gleam a bit. “Oh my god, Jun, you have that new Tales of Zestiria figurine! Where did you find it?”
“Online shop,” Jun explains proudly. “It’s one of the limited figures. Cool, right?”
“Awesome,” Nino agrees. “We should play that game later on,” he decides.
Later that evening they have a midnight dinner, with Jun cooking three different dishes and fussing over Nino until he ate all of it. To his relief he does so happily. “It’s not like I don’t like food,” Nino explains once he emptied a bowl with ramen and reaches out for some pickled vegetables. “But sometimes I’m just so busy, I forget to eat properly. And junk food just doesn’t do it.”
“Yeah, next time you should maybe join Aiba’s food marathon.” Jun says, deciding that it’s the right moment to push that topic.
“Ah,” Nino smiles. “Yes, that idiot. I could probably do that.”
~~~
Every Thursday, after work Jun and Aiba will go for the baking class. It’s fun to be with Aiba, always, because they share so many hobbies with each other – all the nerd stuff the others accept and call cute but don’t really understand.
A few months for example Aiba was completely into embroidery. Making little tissues and hand-towels for all of them, with their names and little symbols and pictures on it.
They are trying to make a perfect crème brulee today but neither one is really content with his work even though the cooking teacher praises them. It’s a hint too sweet, Jun miscalculated the amount of sugar, while Aiba had the temperature of the oven too high.
But still, when they eat the horribly sweet crème brulee they feel somewhat happy.
“Are you alright, Jun?” Aiba asks all of a sudden, so out of the blue that Jun has to blink once, twice.
“What do you mean?”
“Are you happy?” Aiba asks again. “I mean,” he blushes. “It’s not like you are not nice and stuff but sometimes you look-“ a pause. “-lost.”
Aiba’s words sting quite a bit but Jun doesn’t want to admit to that – not even to himself but definitely not to anyone else.
“I’m alright, Masaki-kun,” Jun says calmly and points at the dessert. “Give me some more of it please?”
With that he ended the topic before it could advance any further. However, judging by the glance Aiba sends him, he knows it’s probably not over yet.
~~~
Jun needs to write an article about the perfect kissing techniques. There is a new manual circling around in the net and Sho decided they need to check on that and try it out. Jun likes writing manuals normally, but this here is like the Kamasutra of kissing, so he decides he needs to try them out on someone before he can really write about it. Field research. Aiba gladly volunteers.
“Why is it-“ Aiba mumbles while Jun pecks his lips softly “-that you never choose a boyfriend to do these things?”
“Don’t you like to kiss me?” Jun asks sweetly, the tip of his tongue moving over Aiba’s lips softly. He eyes the manual out of the corner of his eyes, hoping he won’t lose track of it.
Aiba lets out a happy sigh, leaning into Jun’s kiss. “I love to do everything with you,” he mumbles against Jun’s lips before he parts his lips a little for Jun’s tongue to slip in.
“But?” Jun asks when they catch for breath.
“I think Sho-chan messed you up. But he didn’t mean to. He is my best friend, I know that he never meant any harm. He told me about it yesterday when we-“
Jun doesn’t wait for Aiba to finish his sentence, he leans forward again, kissing him impatiently. He doesn’t want to hear what Aiba thinks about Sho, what Sho said or thinks or what these two usually do.
“The manual,” Aiba gasps for air. “You are not following the manual.”
“Well,” Jun slips a finger beneath Aiba’s trouser waistband, tugging at it playfully. “Maybe I should kiss you somewhere else instead. Unless-“ he lets go of the waistband, hand moving down to Aiba’s crotch. “-you don’t want to of course.”
“Oh my… fuck,” Aiba curses slightly at the offer.
“No?” Jun pulls an eyebrow up, very well aware that Aiba is very much into it already.
“Yes,” Aiba says and blushes slightly. “Please.”
“Say it!”
Aiba looks away in embarrassment for a moment but then he looks back at Jun. “Suck me, please.”
The fact that he even asks for it, sends a shiver down Jun’s spine directly to his cock. He tugs Aiba’s sweatpants down, glad that they met so causally in Aiba’s apartment. When he sucks Aiba, he does it the way he knows it drives him crazy, the way it drives everyone crazy. Sho liked it a lot during the times when they met regularly one year ago. When he used his teeth, tried to tease and lick and kiss and not go down to sucking hard immediately. At the end he would sometimes take Sho’s whole cock into his mouth, something Sho never managed to do.
But he doesn’t try to think too much about Sho now, tries to focus on Aiba and his moans, the way he calls Jun’s name. Aiba is pretty well built, so it does take some effort to take his whole cock into his mouth, but Jun manages. When he feels Aiba’s hand grabbing his hair, tugging at it desperately, he knows he just pushed the right buttons.
Jun hands in his article the next day. He has commented on the manual but put his own five cents into it as well, very much inspired by Aiba last night.
Sho eyes him sceptically.
“What?” Jun asks calmly. “Don’t like it?”
“That’s not it,” Sho says silently. “I just wonder where you get these ideas from.”
“Well-“ Jun can feel how his smile freezes. “It’s none of your business anyway.” He says and knows he sounds more than unfriendly and not as detached as he normally is around Sho. He walks away before Sho can say anything. It’s weird, because he feels more prissy than normal. He is better in hiding his feelings – he has learned to bury them deep inside during the last months. But both Aiba and Nino have asked him about the same thing this week and it starts getting down on his nerves.
~~~
The next week Jun is sick, so sick that when he comes to the office, Ohno and Sho immediately send him home again. Ohno even takes his bag and accompanies him downstairs and calls a taxi.
“It’s really not necessary,” Jun mumbles tiredly. “I can walk.”
“The hell you can,” Ohno huffs with an unusual strong voice and Jun actually winces at that. “You can hardly stand, let alone walk to your apartment. Just listen for once, will you!?”
It’s either because he is freaking tired that he gives in or because Ohno is probably the only person he really respects as a senpai. “Fine.”
“Do you have everything at home?” Ohno asks, softer now.
Jun nods.
“I’ll visit you later,” his friend says before he closes the door of the taxi. “Just take a good rest meanwhile.”
Jun tries to listen to Ohno’s words. He stretches on his sofa, five cups of tea in front of him, ten different meds against colds and fever and a lame, sappy romance movie. Titanic. But his mind just keeps spinning, not making it able for him to relax.
When he closes his eyes, trying to drift to sleep, the pictures get even more confusing. He is on sea together with his friends and co-workers. They are sailing on that huge Titanic-like ship, first they have a party, in which Aiba kisses Sho and Nino cuddles with Jun. Then the humongous vibrator gets its own show and dances on stage, while glowing in the dark. But suddenly the others are away. It’s only him and Sho. The iceberg is approaching and they try to drive around it. At one point Sho almost drops into the water but Jun manages to grasp his hands, saves him, but the ship hits the iceberg nevertheless. Then they both drop one flour down, crawling through the window to the outside again. At one point he can feel Sho’s hand on his arm, holding him steady. “I promise you, we’ll make it. I’ll be there.” Sho says while he looks into Jun’s eyes. “Let yourself fall. Let’s jump together. Fall with me. I’ll be there to catch you”
As the ship sinks, Jun does what Sho said. Jumps Down there in the ocean, Sho is not waiting for him. He is not catching him, he didn’t even fall with him. He is alone.
The rest of the dream circles around him trying to reach an island, fighting with a bunch of normally harmless fish, getting caught by them, trying to escape from them by riding on a dolphin, getting lost in an underwater cave and meeting someone from Atlantis who wants to get in his pants. Looks a bit like his old High School buddy Shun.
When Jun wakes up again he is basically bathing in sweat. It takes him a while to realise that he is in his own apartment, not in a cave with Shun trying to seduce him. Jun sighs, cursing his high fever, the feverish dream and the fact that he just read Kafka last week and is probably influenced by his narrative style.
Fall with me. Fucking liar!
To distract himself he grabs his phone. Aiba has sent him around ten messages, with tons of get-better-emoticons and hearts. Ohno too, just without the emoticons. Nino has sent him a longer email and told him about the mess at work that he and Aiba did an ad for nipple clamps. Apparently they kind of messed up and had difficulties removing them from Aiba again.
Jun smiles.
When he sees Sho’s name in between, his smile falters. For a moment he wonders if he should just delete it or ignore it, like most of Sho’s messages over the last couple of months. But then he decides he needs grow up about that.
Jun-kun, please watch out for your health and get better soon. I’m worried. As always you are pushing yourself too much, working more than all of us together. Here I looked up a recipe for a soup that is supposed to help you when you are sick. Please get well soon! We all miss you (I miss you too!)
Jun puts his phone aside and shuffles into the bathroom. He splashes cold water onto his face because he is so freaking afraid that he might start crying. Then he takes some of the harder meds. This time they really numb the pain and he drifts into a dark sleep.
~~~
When Jun wakes up again, his head feels a tiny bit lighter. There is a fever patch sticking to his forehead and fresh tea next to him on the table and it smells nice.
“Satoshi-kun?” he tries to call out but his voice is weirdly hoarse. The cold is kicking in which means the fever is probably going to get down soon.
“Awake?” Ohno peaks into the living room, smiling in relief. “You were completely knocked out.”
“Tell me about it,” Jun huffs tiredly. “I had to go for the real hard stuff to even be able to sleep without going crazy.”
“Fever dream again?” Ohno asks in sympathy. “You always get haunted by them when you are fevering too high. What did you dream about?”
“You guys and Titanic.”
“Titanic?” Ohno raises his eyebrows in amusement.
“Hm~ Last movie I watched.” Jun tries to sit up a bit and takes a sip from his tea. His throat burns a little but it’s still manageable.
“I see,” Ohno sits down at the free space on the sofa and looks at Jun warily. “Was there Sho in it?”
Jun’s eyes basically snap open, he can feel how his lips are suddenly pressed against each other in a thin line. “Listen,” he huffs. He is supposed to sound angry but his voice is scratchy and he just sounds croaky. “With all due respect, but you are the third one this week who gets on my nerves with fucking Sho-kun. So just leave me the hell alone with that issue! I don’t want to talk about him ever again.” He lets out an exasperate sigh and drops down in exhaustion.
Ohno sighs. “So you dreamed about him?”
Jun doesn’t answer, instead he turns over eyeing the back of the sofa instead.
“You know that at one point you should face that issue, right? He is really worried about you – always. You might not know it but he tends to ask us all the time how you are feeling, if you are doing well, eating well, sleeping well. He asks us to look out for you and be nice and supportive, reprimands us when we tease you or when Nino makes a stupid joke.” Ohno pushes the topic further. Before Jun can basically jump at him again though he feels how Ohno pokes his back. “Soup?” he asks. “Recipe from my mother. Self-made.”
Against his intention Jun has to smile against his pillow. “Okay.”
“Okay what?” Ohno wants to know. “That you are going to face your problem with Sho or that you want soup?”
Jun sighs in exhaustion. “You couldn’t be any more annoying like an older brother.”
“That’s my intention.” Even though he can’t see his face right now, Jun knows that Ohno is grinning.
“Just bring me the soup and I’ll think about it.”
~~~
When Jun returns to work a few days later, he has approximately lost 6 kilos – thank you stupid flu! – which his friends comment differently. “Damn it, I’m going to invite you for dinner!” Aiba bursts out.
“Now it’s finally my turn to get on your nerves because of skinny-issues?” Nino beams a little too happy.
Ohno just throws him a worried glance but doesn’t push the issue further. He probably knows that it will all go back to normal once Jun regains his strength fully.
And Sho? When Jun comes back from his coffee break he finds a bento box on his desk – from the restaurant around a corner which makes them fresh.
He doesn’t comment on it and successfully ignores the glance Ohno sends him though he does feel a bit guilty for not even saying thank you. He gladly gets distracted by a message. It’s from Shun.
Long time not seen, Jun! How are you doing? I’m in town today. Wanna meet?
It’s pretty spontaneous but Jun is too happy to receive a message from his oldest friend to decline him, even though he knows he should probably take it slow for now. Sure, when?
6PM, place as usual?
~~~
They meet as usual in a bar in the corner of their old college. And as usual they reminisce over the good old days, refresh their high-school memory, giggle about how they exchanged their first kiss together just to practise before they move on to talk about their college adventures.
At one point of the evening Shun has emptied 7 shots of tequila and Jun has drunk one, or two… okay, five cups of sake. He feels quite dizzy. The alcohol doesn’t sit too well with his cold and his meds. Still, he is so caught up with Shun and feels so fuzzy about all the memories that he just naturally agrees to join him in his hotel room.
He can’t remember very well afterwards. Just knows that Shun’s arms felt strong. He is different than Nino who is so fragile and Aiba who likes to get pampered. His lips feel warm and his kisses are soft and careful. Jun likes to be the one who is in lead but right now he is happy that Shun is the one taking the initiative, his hips rocking against Jun’s in a steady movement. It feels good and it reminds him so much of college that Jun almost feels nostalgic when they both reach their orgasm.
A few hours later Jun has left Shun’s hotel room. The latter needs to get up early the next day and Jun himself doesn’t like it to stay overnight anyway. He roams through the streets towards his apartment, his head spins, slowly first before it feels like a rollercoaster drive.
“Jun-kun?”
To hear Sho’s voice suddenly behind him almost makes him sober up. Jun spins around, not counting on his messed up orientation and circulation, so he accidentally stumbles over the dustbins next to him. When he tries to angle for balance, Sho grabs his arm.
He is a little surprised by that, he is even more surprised though when Sho’s palm makes not-so-soft contact with his cheek. Jun blinks, feeling how his senses slowly return. He moves his hand to his cheek. It stings. “I can’t believe you did that. That actually hurt.”
“I can’t believe you get drunk after you just were sick!” Sho hisses as an answer.
“Yeah, fine, whatever,” Jun shakes his head. “I’m looking for my way home. So, see you tomorrow.”
“Looking for your way-“ Sho sighs all of a sudden and grabs Jun’s hand. “Come, I’ll take you to your place.”
It’s weird and almost painful to have Sho guide him like that and it reminds Jun that it’s been over a year that they actually walked that close to each other, all alone. Wasn’t he drunk, he would fight Sho for sure, but right now, he just is too tired to mind. Jun is surprised though when they only cross a few roads and walk around a corner – then he can see his apartment complex. It was so damn close. Okay, that is embarrassing.
Jun closes his laptop with a sigh. He has just finished his article about the top 10 perfect, exciting places for outdoor sex, including advice and do's and don’ts – with a little warning for the beach one, because sand can be nasty. He knows that from the one time he tried it out with Ohno – field research of course – when they had to stop midway because the terrible sand was basically everywhere, tickling, itching, annoying. Bath mat and towel need to be big enough.
He is pretty content with this article. It’s not bad at all. And on top of that he has finished it early, which means – Jun glances at his watch happily – he can make it to his favourite anime right now. He could even work on that new set of perfumed candles he wants to make – he bought a book for that, in search for another creative hobby.
During the last year Jun has learned a lot of things. First of all, he has learned that he is actually pretty good at his work if he tries hard. Second, Kare Kano never loses its charm, third Sailor Moon aged more than a few years, fourth the new Avengers movie is cool, fifth Aiba should work more on his cosplay. And sixth he is better off as a single man.
It was his fault anyway for listening to these sweet words like Fall with me. Let’s jump together whispered during heated nights and tender moments. He is so stupid for believing them – he knows that now. Because after months of believing and having faith, and falling and jumping, he was the one left behind
One year later Jun has learned that he needs to move on and not bother others with his feelings, he has learned that it’s best not to fall at all. Unless it’s Iron Man or Angelina Jolie of course, or his all-time favourite anime Lovely Complex. It’s perfectly fine to fall for them!
He nods to himself and hides underneath the huge blanket with Howl’s Moving Castle print theme. Then he switches on the TV. Everything is fine the way it is now.
~~~
A glance at his watch tells Jun he just made it in time. Jun sighs, puts his sunglass on and steps out of the subway. It’s not really sunny today but he really is not the morning type of person, so sunny or not, he needs his sunglasses.
When he steps into the building in Kyoto’s main street where their office is located, he stumbles over Aiba. The latter waves at him enthusiastically and it does draw the first smile from Jun this morning. A natural reaction to Aiba. He approaches his friend who is still sitting in the small cafeteria, having his breakfast, which includes a huge amount of pancakes with whipped cream, fresh bananas and hot chocolate sauce.
Jun pauses at the sight. “You know we are filming the ad today, right?”
Aiba blinks a few times, then he shrugs. “So what?” he asks before he digs into his pancakes again and offers a spoon full of it to Jun.
Jun sighs and sits down next to his friend. Only when Aiba continues wavering and circling his spoon around Jun’s lips, he takes the offered piece of pancake. Ugh, impossibly sweet. Jun coughs at the sugar rush. “It’s semi-nude.”
“What’s semi-nude?”
“The filming for the ad!”
Aiba still looks at him in soft bewilderment. Then he smiles. “So what? It’s always semi-nude. We are an erotic magazine after all.” He pauses, squeezing Jun’s hand. “Aren’t you used to it by now? I know you were the last one to join our magazine two years ago and it’s all about sex stuff and it might not be what you-”
“Masaki-kun,” Jun stops him before he can continue his rather embarrassing ramble. He remembers pretty well when and how he joined the magazine and the fact that he met Sho there and fell for him and spent exactly 6 months, 3 weeks and 2 days with him. Fall with me, Jun. Liar! Jun bends his head forward until his nose almost touches Aiba’s cheek. “I’m very much used to it by now,” he mumbles, giving his voice a certain edge so that it sounds huskier than usual. He grins when Aiba blushes at the sudden contact. Then Jun pokes Aiba’s stomach. “Eating so many pancakes might blow your stomach up a little.” He grins. “And for our ad you need to look fit and slender.”
With that he gets up, ignoring the glare Aiba shoots at him and the way he mumbles Fucking tease.
~~~
“Where is Masaki-kun?” A deep frown accompanies Sho’s words. It’s basically the first thing Jun hears when he finally makes it into their office. Jun knows he actually wants to complain about Jun being late as well but as always he doesn’t dare to approach Jun directly. He hasn’t really yelled at him or reprimanded him in the last year. Feels weird. And unnatural. But Jun tries not to think about it. Sho didn’t want to jump back then, he didn’t want to fall. So, Sho is none of his business anymore!
So, Jun does what he normally does when it’s Sho, he mantra-like repeats that they are co-workers, he needs to suck it up and hence, he doesn’t react to the complaint at all. It’s really not worth his breath to say something about that.
“Where is Masaki-kun?” Sho repeats once again, voice almost wary now, almost soft.
Jun lets out an exasperate sigh. The only reason he is not jumping at Sho immediately like he would usually do is probably because he is their editor in chief and doesn’t want to tick him off completely. They – as in Nino, Ohno and Aiba, because Jun himself really doesn’t mind – need him to be in a good mood today. Still, he can’t with his non-stop complaints. It just irks him to no end. “Good morning to you too,” Jun answers sweetly, showing Sho a particularly warm and soft smile.
Sho blinks in surprise, obviously taken aback by Jun’s different than usual approach. He opens his mouth like he wants to say something. Strike! Somewhere at the other corner of the room Nino is chuckling slightly.
~~~
In an office as small as theirs with only five steady fulltime workers work gets divided between all of them. They have to do it all – publish the magazine, write it, make the pics and add a view advertising videos. They are pretty proud to own that luxurious, top-notch erotic magazine which sells like crazy.
However, it also means always having to be prepared, always be ready to do stuff one doesn’t feel comfortable with. Not to have breakfast before a semi-nude video-shooting for example.
“Did you have breakfast!?”
Aiba’s cheeks are colored in a soft red-tone, when Sho has asked the inevitable. Jun sighs. He knew it. But Aiba wouldn’t be Aiba if he recovered pretty fast. “Don’t worry,” he grins. “I’ll still manage to look hot.”
“Hm,” Ohno muses. “You want to go for the sexy chubby image?”
“Who are you calling chubby!?” Aiba bursts. “I only had breakfast!”
“You mean a plate full of pancakes, with chocolate and whipped cream?” Nino teases. “I am surprised you really managed to eat it all.”
Aiba’s eyes darken at these words, his normally so soft features suddenly looking tensed and giving him an angry look. “Just because you like to live from air and sex, Nino, doesn’t mean that I-“
“We should probably start,” Jun intervenes before Aiba can continue his rant. He is probably about to say things he might feel sorry later on and then Nino will say things, he will be sorry later on. A vicious circle. It happened often enough for them to know that they have to stop these two when they start fighting about food and the way they eat or don’t eat.
“Yes,” Sho agrees, looking almost relieved now. “We should start. We’ll mix it up though. Masaki-kun, you and Satoshi-kun will shoot the condom commercial. Nino and Jun-kun will do the semi-nude vibrator commercial instead.”
Aiba sighs a bit, throwing a grumpy glance at Sho for taking him out of his so much anticipated vibrator commercial. But he is smart enough not to say anything. And half an hour later when they start the first commercial, he is completely into it again. He and Ohno are sitting opposite each other on the pink sofa of their office, Aiba holding up a package with the new strawberry-mint condoms, produces by one of their sponsors. He twinkles now. “It tastes like a whole ice-cream cup,” Aiba chirps and scoots closer to Ohno, pressing his lips against Ohno’s smile. Then he lets out happy sigh. “So good. You won’t want to stop blowing him~”
Ohno nods and turns his face towards the camera. “Saver sex,” he says earnestly, not changing his facial expression at all. “Be careful.”
And in unison: “ResistanceXXX. In all sizes.”
Sho, Nino and Jun exchange a glance. “It’s a bit like a chewing gum commercial,” Nino mumbles. “Shouldn’t it be a bit more… erotic?”
“That’s why we never let these two shoot together normally,” Sho sighs. “But, well, it’s all we have for now.”
~~~
Jun likes his work. And he likes to do his work properly. Maybe that’s what makes him and Sho as co-workers work, otherwise he might have already killed the other secretly. But he has to admit that Sho is a good director and has a good eye for what’s important and what looks good in their magazine.
“A little closer, Nino,” Sho mumbles and moves the camera – an investment they did a few months ago when their magazine started to sell really well and they decided to add videos to it, increasing the profit even more.
Nino leans back into Jun’s arms. He is skinnier than many other guys, almost too skinny, but there is something in his eyes that makes people forget that technically his body isn’t particularly erotic. Lascivious somehow. Jun wraps an arm around Nino’s hips, one of his legs curling around Nino. With deft fingers he angles for the little item behind him. The new ET500 Bulldog, a vibrator with a pretty huge size, but with little stimulating nobs around it.
Jun tilts his head, lips moving over Nino’s neck, until he reaches his ear. He looks at the camera directly now, kind of surprised to see how Sho is looking at him now, right into his eyes, a slight blush on his cheeks even. Jun shifts the vibrator between his fingers to show it to the audience properly. “For the little special adventure in your bedroom,” he says as seductively as possible, half into Nino’s ear, half towards the camera. There are little goosebumps on Nino’s arms all of a sudden. “With great power comes great responsibility.”
“And cut,” Sho calls.
Aiba is sitting the other round in his office chair, arms wrapped around the back of the chair, chin resting against it. “Wow,” he sighs. “So good.”
“Yeah, it was good,” Ohno raises his eyebrows and exchanges a glance with Sho. “It’s just-“
“Just what?” Jun asks sharply while he puts his trousers on again.
“Not sure how to say it.” Ohno shrugs. “But I’m getting almost hard watching you two.”
“Well,” Nino snorts. “Better than your chewing gum commercial from before!”
Aiba’s head snaps up. “What’s wrong with our commercial?”
“Everything,” Nino teases. “Looked like a commercial for a kindergarten birthday party.”
“What!? I even included the word blow!” Aiba stands up now, crossing his arms in defence.
A snicker. “Well, it could also be blowing out candles, right?”
Jun is glad for their distraction because Ohno’s words did embarrass him a little. He didn’t want it to go over the top like that. Like porn. “Don’t worry.” Jun turns his head, surprised that Sho approached him. It has to be the first time in a year that Sho dares to invade his personal space – not as his co-worker but just casual. The latter reaches out his hand, a cup with jasmine tea offered to Jun. “It’s a stunning commercial.”
“It’s not too pornographic?” Jun asks, feeling uncertain, too engulfed in this scene to realize he is talking to Sho aka Mr. insensitive, chipmunk-smile, but with nice abs, stupid Sho-san.
“Not at all,” Sho smiles a bit. “It was very hot and erotic, yes. But it’s supposed to be like that.” He grins. “You won’t want to advertise a kindergarten birthday party or chewing gum after all.”
Jun smiles slightly at that. Sho making jokes is rare. He nods and takes the offered cup. When he is about to turn away, Sho coughs a little. “Jun-kun?”
Jun turns around. “Hm?”
For a moment Sho looks like he is about to say something but then he turns his head away, shaking it slightly. “Nothing.”
~~~
“What was that between you and Sho-chan today?” Nino’s voice is dripping with curiosity. “The tension. Like you suddenly got along again.” He shifts his hand a few inches, the vibrator moving against Jun’s prostate all of a sudden.
“Oh my god,” Jun breaths out, head dropping to the side.
“So what was that weird tension?” Nino asks, lips twitching slightly as he leans down to kiss Jun’s neck.
“Can’t we talk about that later?” Jun asks, gasping for air when Nino circles the freaking vibrator in a particularly slow and teasing way.
“But you never give answers in a normal situation,” Nino smiles warily. “It’s only during sex that I have a chance to get some secrets from you. Should I switch it on?”
Screw this stupid new vibrator. It really holds up to his promises, Jun thinks. Great power, indeed! Good that they made such an erotic advertisement for that. He throws his head back when Nino complies his threat and switches the vibrator on. “Cool,” Nino mumbles. “It even glows in the dark.” He turns it teasingly before he pushes it further inside Jun’s hole.
“Fuck you,” Jun huffs, gasping for air when Nino just continues the teasing. His resolve crumbles. “I don’t know.” He breathes out. “Sho suddenly talked to me, completely normal, like he never hurt my feelings. Like nothing ever happened.”
Nino’s eyes basically snap wide-open at that and he looks at Jun directly now, through these caramel brown eyes. “Sorry,” he mumbles and scoots closer, lying down next to Jun now. “Didn’t want to push you that much.”
Jun wraps his arms around Nino and pulls him closer. “You are too thin,” he analyses.
Nino chuckles. “Is you complaining about that my punishment for getting on your nerves right now?”
“Wait till I cook for you tonight, then we’ll see,” Jun teases back. He bites into Nino’s earlobe teasingly. “Now it’s my turn for letting you try that vibrator on me.”
“Yeah,” Nino chuckles. “I know.” He sits up again and on Jun’s lap. When Jun angles for the lube, the latter shakes his head. “Already prepared myself before.”
“Condoms?” Jun asks.
Nino grins and angles for the new package of strawberry-mint condoms. Jun laughs slightly at that. It reminds him why this here is so easy, why it’s so uncomplicated to meet Nino like that. It’s simply fun, nothing complicated between them.
Nino doesn’t remove the vibrator from Jun’s butt while he rides his cock thoroughly. Sometimes he reaches back, twitching the item just enough to make Jun’s mind go crazy, making it impossible for Jun to take the lead completely, unlike he normally does. Jun secretly enjoys Nino taking the initiative like that. Feels different and intense. It’s only when Nino approaches his own orgasm that Jun angles for Nino’s neglected erection, pumping it frantically. It doesn’t take them long to come and soon Nino is bent over him, moaning and sighing messily, body shivering slightly.
Jun closes his eyes as his own orgasm basically washes over him, fingers and toes curling slightly, he grasps the blanket tightly, breathing out incoherent words until the world around him goes white.
“Wow,” Jun mumbles after he has come down from his orgasm. He stretches a bit, removing the vibrator carefully. “You really know what to do.”
“Is that a compliment or an insult?” Nino asks lazily, dropping down next to Jun on his back.
“Definitely not an insult.”
“But not a compliment either?” Nino grins.
Jun shrugs. “Depends on how you define compliment.”
Nino just chuckles. When he turns his head, his eyes gleam a bit. “Oh my god, Jun, you have that new Tales of Zestiria figurine! Where did you find it?”
“Online shop,” Jun explains proudly. “It’s one of the limited figures. Cool, right?”
“Awesome,” Nino agrees. “We should play that game later on,” he decides.
Later that evening they have a midnight dinner, with Jun cooking three different dishes and fussing over Nino until he ate all of it. To his relief he does so happily. “It’s not like I don’t like food,” Nino explains once he emptied a bowl with ramen and reaches out for some pickled vegetables. “But sometimes I’m just so busy, I forget to eat properly. And junk food just doesn’t do it.”
“Yeah, next time you should maybe join Aiba’s food marathon.” Jun says, deciding that it’s the right moment to push that topic.
“Ah,” Nino smiles. “Yes, that idiot. I could probably do that.”
~~~
Every Thursday, after work Jun and Aiba will go for the baking class. It’s fun to be with Aiba, always, because they share so many hobbies with each other – all the nerd stuff the others accept and call cute but don’t really understand.
A few months for example Aiba was completely into embroidery. Making little tissues and hand-towels for all of them, with their names and little symbols and pictures on it.
They are trying to make a perfect crème brulee today but neither one is really content with his work even though the cooking teacher praises them. It’s a hint too sweet, Jun miscalculated the amount of sugar, while Aiba had the temperature of the oven too high.
But still, when they eat the horribly sweet crème brulee they feel somewhat happy.
“Are you alright, Jun?” Aiba asks all of a sudden, so out of the blue that Jun has to blink once, twice.
“What do you mean?”
“Are you happy?” Aiba asks again. “I mean,” he blushes. “It’s not like you are not nice and stuff but sometimes you look-“ a pause. “-lost.”
Aiba’s words sting quite a bit but Jun doesn’t want to admit to that – not even to himself but definitely not to anyone else.
“I’m alright, Masaki-kun,” Jun says calmly and points at the dessert. “Give me some more of it please?”
With that he ended the topic before it could advance any further. However, judging by the glance Aiba sends him, he knows it’s probably not over yet.
~~~
Jun needs to write an article about the perfect kissing techniques. There is a new manual circling around in the net and Sho decided they need to check on that and try it out. Jun likes writing manuals normally, but this here is like the Kamasutra of kissing, so he decides he needs to try them out on someone before he can really write about it. Field research. Aiba gladly volunteers.
“Why is it-“ Aiba mumbles while Jun pecks his lips softly “-that you never choose a boyfriend to do these things?”
“Don’t you like to kiss me?” Jun asks sweetly, the tip of his tongue moving over Aiba’s lips softly. He eyes the manual out of the corner of his eyes, hoping he won’t lose track of it.
Aiba lets out a happy sigh, leaning into Jun’s kiss. “I love to do everything with you,” he mumbles against Jun’s lips before he parts his lips a little for Jun’s tongue to slip in.
“But?” Jun asks when they catch for breath.
“I think Sho-chan messed you up. But he didn’t mean to. He is my best friend, I know that he never meant any harm. He told me about it yesterday when we-“
Jun doesn’t wait for Aiba to finish his sentence, he leans forward again, kissing him impatiently. He doesn’t want to hear what Aiba thinks about Sho, what Sho said or thinks or what these two usually do.
“The manual,” Aiba gasps for air. “You are not following the manual.”
“Well,” Jun slips a finger beneath Aiba’s trouser waistband, tugging at it playfully. “Maybe I should kiss you somewhere else instead. Unless-“ he lets go of the waistband, hand moving down to Aiba’s crotch. “-you don’t want to of course.”
“Oh my… fuck,” Aiba curses slightly at the offer.
“No?” Jun pulls an eyebrow up, very well aware that Aiba is very much into it already.
“Yes,” Aiba says and blushes slightly. “Please.”
“Say it!”
Aiba looks away in embarrassment for a moment but then he looks back at Jun. “Suck me, please.”
The fact that he even asks for it, sends a shiver down Jun’s spine directly to his cock. He tugs Aiba’s sweatpants down, glad that they met so causally in Aiba’s apartment. When he sucks Aiba, he does it the way he knows it drives him crazy, the way it drives everyone crazy. Sho liked it a lot during the times when they met regularly one year ago. When he used his teeth, tried to tease and lick and kiss and not go down to sucking hard immediately. At the end he would sometimes take Sho’s whole cock into his mouth, something Sho never managed to do.
But he doesn’t try to think too much about Sho now, tries to focus on Aiba and his moans, the way he calls Jun’s name. Aiba is pretty well built, so it does take some effort to take his whole cock into his mouth, but Jun manages. When he feels Aiba’s hand grabbing his hair, tugging at it desperately, he knows he just pushed the right buttons.
Jun hands in his article the next day. He has commented on the manual but put his own five cents into it as well, very much inspired by Aiba last night.
Sho eyes him sceptically.
“What?” Jun asks calmly. “Don’t like it?”
“That’s not it,” Sho says silently. “I just wonder where you get these ideas from.”
“Well-“ Jun can feel how his smile freezes. “It’s none of your business anyway.” He says and knows he sounds more than unfriendly and not as detached as he normally is around Sho. He walks away before Sho can say anything. It’s weird, because he feels more prissy than normal. He is better in hiding his feelings – he has learned to bury them deep inside during the last months. But both Aiba and Nino have asked him about the same thing this week and it starts getting down on his nerves.
~~~
The next week Jun is sick, so sick that when he comes to the office, Ohno and Sho immediately send him home again. Ohno even takes his bag and accompanies him downstairs and calls a taxi.
“It’s really not necessary,” Jun mumbles tiredly. “I can walk.”
“The hell you can,” Ohno huffs with an unusual strong voice and Jun actually winces at that. “You can hardly stand, let alone walk to your apartment. Just listen for once, will you!?”
It’s either because he is freaking tired that he gives in or because Ohno is probably the only person he really respects as a senpai. “Fine.”
“Do you have everything at home?” Ohno asks, softer now.
Jun nods.
“I’ll visit you later,” his friend says before he closes the door of the taxi. “Just take a good rest meanwhile.”
Jun tries to listen to Ohno’s words. He stretches on his sofa, five cups of tea in front of him, ten different meds against colds and fever and a lame, sappy romance movie. Titanic. But his mind just keeps spinning, not making it able for him to relax.
When he closes his eyes, trying to drift to sleep, the pictures get even more confusing. He is on sea together with his friends and co-workers. They are sailing on that huge Titanic-like ship, first they have a party, in which Aiba kisses Sho and Nino cuddles with Jun. Then the humongous vibrator gets its own show and dances on stage, while glowing in the dark. But suddenly the others are away. It’s only him and Sho. The iceberg is approaching and they try to drive around it. At one point Sho almost drops into the water but Jun manages to grasp his hands, saves him, but the ship hits the iceberg nevertheless. Then they both drop one flour down, crawling through the window to the outside again. At one point he can feel Sho’s hand on his arm, holding him steady. “I promise you, we’ll make it. I’ll be there.” Sho says while he looks into Jun’s eyes. “Let yourself fall. Let’s jump together. Fall with me. I’ll be there to catch you”
As the ship sinks, Jun does what Sho said. Jumps Down there in the ocean, Sho is not waiting for him. He is not catching him, he didn’t even fall with him. He is alone.
The rest of the dream circles around him trying to reach an island, fighting with a bunch of normally harmless fish, getting caught by them, trying to escape from them by riding on a dolphin, getting lost in an underwater cave and meeting someone from Atlantis who wants to get in his pants. Looks a bit like his old High School buddy Shun.
When Jun wakes up again he is basically bathing in sweat. It takes him a while to realise that he is in his own apartment, not in a cave with Shun trying to seduce him. Jun sighs, cursing his high fever, the feverish dream and the fact that he just read Kafka last week and is probably influenced by his narrative style.
Fall with me. Fucking liar!
To distract himself he grabs his phone. Aiba has sent him around ten messages, with tons of get-better-emoticons and hearts. Ohno too, just without the emoticons. Nino has sent him a longer email and told him about the mess at work that he and Aiba did an ad for nipple clamps. Apparently they kind of messed up and had difficulties removing them from Aiba again.
Jun smiles.
When he sees Sho’s name in between, his smile falters. For a moment he wonders if he should just delete it or ignore it, like most of Sho’s messages over the last couple of months. But then he decides he needs grow up about that.
Jun-kun, please watch out for your health and get better soon. I’m worried. As always you are pushing yourself too much, working more than all of us together. Here I looked up a recipe for a soup that is supposed to help you when you are sick. Please get well soon! We all miss you (I miss you too!)
Jun puts his phone aside and shuffles into the bathroom. He splashes cold water onto his face because he is so freaking afraid that he might start crying. Then he takes some of the harder meds. This time they really numb the pain and he drifts into a dark sleep.
~~~
When Jun wakes up again, his head feels a tiny bit lighter. There is a fever patch sticking to his forehead and fresh tea next to him on the table and it smells nice.
“Satoshi-kun?” he tries to call out but his voice is weirdly hoarse. The cold is kicking in which means the fever is probably going to get down soon.
“Awake?” Ohno peaks into the living room, smiling in relief. “You were completely knocked out.”
“Tell me about it,” Jun huffs tiredly. “I had to go for the real hard stuff to even be able to sleep without going crazy.”
“Fever dream again?” Ohno asks in sympathy. “You always get haunted by them when you are fevering too high. What did you dream about?”
“You guys and Titanic.”
“Titanic?” Ohno raises his eyebrows in amusement.
“Hm~ Last movie I watched.” Jun tries to sit up a bit and takes a sip from his tea. His throat burns a little but it’s still manageable.
“I see,” Ohno sits down at the free space on the sofa and looks at Jun warily. “Was there Sho in it?”
Jun’s eyes basically snap open, he can feel how his lips are suddenly pressed against each other in a thin line. “Listen,” he huffs. He is supposed to sound angry but his voice is scratchy and he just sounds croaky. “With all due respect, but you are the third one this week who gets on my nerves with fucking Sho-kun. So just leave me the hell alone with that issue! I don’t want to talk about him ever again.” He lets out an exasperate sigh and drops down in exhaustion.
Ohno sighs. “So you dreamed about him?”
Jun doesn’t answer, instead he turns over eyeing the back of the sofa instead.
“You know that at one point you should face that issue, right? He is really worried about you – always. You might not know it but he tends to ask us all the time how you are feeling, if you are doing well, eating well, sleeping well. He asks us to look out for you and be nice and supportive, reprimands us when we tease you or when Nino makes a stupid joke.” Ohno pushes the topic further. Before Jun can basically jump at him again though he feels how Ohno pokes his back. “Soup?” he asks. “Recipe from my mother. Self-made.”
Against his intention Jun has to smile against his pillow. “Okay.”
“Okay what?” Ohno wants to know. “That you are going to face your problem with Sho or that you want soup?”
Jun sighs in exhaustion. “You couldn’t be any more annoying like an older brother.”
“That’s my intention.” Even though he can’t see his face right now, Jun knows that Ohno is grinning.
“Just bring me the soup and I’ll think about it.”
~~~
When Jun returns to work a few days later, he has approximately lost 6 kilos – thank you stupid flu! – which his friends comment differently. “Damn it, I’m going to invite you for dinner!” Aiba bursts out.
“Now it’s finally my turn to get on your nerves because of skinny-issues?” Nino beams a little too happy.
Ohno just throws him a worried glance but doesn’t push the issue further. He probably knows that it will all go back to normal once Jun regains his strength fully.
And Sho? When Jun comes back from his coffee break he finds a bento box on his desk – from the restaurant around a corner which makes them fresh.
He doesn’t comment on it and successfully ignores the glance Ohno sends him though he does feel a bit guilty for not even saying thank you. He gladly gets distracted by a message. It’s from Shun.
Long time not seen, Jun! How are you doing? I’m in town today. Wanna meet?
It’s pretty spontaneous but Jun is too happy to receive a message from his oldest friend to decline him, even though he knows he should probably take it slow for now. Sure, when?
6PM, place as usual?
~~~
They meet as usual in a bar in the corner of their old college. And as usual they reminisce over the good old days, refresh their high-school memory, giggle about how they exchanged their first kiss together just to practise before they move on to talk about their college adventures.
At one point of the evening Shun has emptied 7 shots of tequila and Jun has drunk one, or two… okay, five cups of sake. He feels quite dizzy. The alcohol doesn’t sit too well with his cold and his meds. Still, he is so caught up with Shun and feels so fuzzy about all the memories that he just naturally agrees to join him in his hotel room.
He can’t remember very well afterwards. Just knows that Shun’s arms felt strong. He is different than Nino who is so fragile and Aiba who likes to get pampered. His lips feel warm and his kisses are soft and careful. Jun likes to be the one who is in lead but right now he is happy that Shun is the one taking the initiative, his hips rocking against Jun’s in a steady movement. It feels good and it reminds him so much of college that Jun almost feels nostalgic when they both reach their orgasm.
A few hours later Jun has left Shun’s hotel room. The latter needs to get up early the next day and Jun himself doesn’t like it to stay overnight anyway. He roams through the streets towards his apartment, his head spins, slowly first before it feels like a rollercoaster drive.
“Jun-kun?”
To hear Sho’s voice suddenly behind him almost makes him sober up. Jun spins around, not counting on his messed up orientation and circulation, so he accidentally stumbles over the dustbins next to him. When he tries to angle for balance, Sho grabs his arm.
He is a little surprised by that, he is even more surprised though when Sho’s palm makes not-so-soft contact with his cheek. Jun blinks, feeling how his senses slowly return. He moves his hand to his cheek. It stings. “I can’t believe you did that. That actually hurt.”
“I can’t believe you get drunk after you just were sick!” Sho hisses as an answer.
“Yeah, fine, whatever,” Jun shakes his head. “I’m looking for my way home. So, see you tomorrow.”
“Looking for your way-“ Sho sighs all of a sudden and grabs Jun’s hand. “Come, I’ll take you to your place.”
It’s weird and almost painful to have Sho guide him like that and it reminds Jun that it’s been over a year that they actually walked that close to each other, all alone. Wasn’t he drunk, he would fight Sho for sure, but right now, he just is too tired to mind. Jun is surprised though when they only cross a few roads and walk around a corner – then he can see his apartment complex. It was so damn close. Okay, that is embarrassing.
