Title: Kiss me
Pairing: Yama
Rating: PG-13
Beta:
ryosukekoibito
Genre: romance
Summary: Ohno lands the leading role in a romance drama, something he hasn't played before. Finally a chance for Sho to let himself be manipulated (thank you, Nino!) into helping Ohno with practicing his script. Not that Sho minds though... he has just been waiting for an excuse to hang out with the other man. However it's more difficult than he thought to seduce someone...
Note: requested by
shunluv. I hope you like this (and the little twists :D)! I certainly had fun writing this <3
“A kissing scene for Riida? Maybe you should wear a wig and help him with it? Practice the script.”
Sho should know that it is best NOT to listen to Nino’s advice, especially when it comes in such a snarky tone, with a dirty side-eye towards Jun (sexual details Sho really doesn’t want to know) and isn’t even the slightest bit helpful. But still, something about it sticks in his mind.
Practice the script…
***
“Have you ever practiced your script?”
Jun eyes Sho in slight amusement. “No, Sho-kun, I never practice my scripts. In fact I’m so superb, I don’t even need a script at all.”
“Yeah, right, because that’s what I meant,” Sho huffs.
“It’s not my fault that you don’t articulate yourself properly,” Jun retorts, his voice dripping with sarcasm. Secretly Sho thinks that he and Nino deserve each other – really. These two teasing brats.
However, Sho has known Jun for quite some time now, hasn’t he? They go back a long rocky way. And he knows how to push the right buttons to get what he wants. “Really, if you don’t want to help, just say so.”
Jun eyes him skeptically, tone changing immediately. “Help? I never said I wouldn’t help…”
Sho shrugs nonchalantly. “It sounded like you weren’t interested.”
“Sho-kun, you are twisting my words,” Jun argues. “So, what is the problem?”
Sho lets out a tired smile, deep worry on his face. “It’s Riida.”
“Ohno-san?”
Sho has to try hard not to beam in relief when he sees sudden interest in Jun’s gaze. He definitely knows how to push the right buttons to get Jun on his side. “Yes, seems like he is having trouble with his scripts.”
“Ah,” Jun nods his head. “That’s where you weird question from before came from. What’s he having trouble with?”
Sho gulps. There is no way he can tell Jun that it is a kissing scene. There would be a high possibility for Jun to look through this and figure out Sho’s not so innocent plan. “It seems to be the romance plot,” Sho finally answers vaguely. “He has never studied a script like that before and feels really uncomfortable with it.”
“Well, he is a smart and talented guy.” Jun shrugs. “I’m sure he’ll get through it easily. And if he doesn’t, you could still help him. Apparently he consulted with you, didn’t he?”
No, he didn’t, still…
Sho’s eyes light up a bit, a content smirk on his lips. With Jun bringing up this suggestion, he basically has the perfect excuse to approach Ohno and offer him his help. It’s perfect. “You’re right. I’ll ask him if he needs any help.”
He changes the topic after that, not wanting to talk any more about Ohno, otherwise Jun might feel suspicious about it.
***
“What are you doing here?” Sho sits down on the bench next to Ohno. He has met the latter coincidentally – at least that’s what he told Ohno – on the roof deck of their recording studio.
“Knitting a sweater,” Ohno answers casually.
Sho frowns in disapproval. “How come that I always get a sarcastic response from you guys, no matter what I ask! I’m used to it from Nino, and Jun knows the sadistic teasing game too. And now you? What’s going to happen next – Aiba discovering his sense for sarcasm?”
“That won’t happen.” Ohno smiles warmly. “Listen, Sho-kun, I didn’t mean to insult you. It was meant as a joke. I’m here because I wanted to be outside. I like this place, even when the weather is cold. It’s calm and soothing.”
Sho sighs. “I know. Guess I’ve been a bit touchy lately.”
“Yeah, it’s almost like you’re PMS-ing.” When Sho throws him an annoyed glance, Ohno raises his hands in defence. “Sorry, sorry, I just wanted to get this last one out of my system. No jokes anymore.”
“Talking about jokes,” Sho shifts the subject swiftly. “How’s your script?”
Ohno grins slightly at Sho’s comment. “Weren’t you the one just complaining about my sarcasm?”
“Sorry.” Sho chuckles sweetly. “I just wanted to get it out of my system.”
“Alright,” Ohno smiles. “Are we even now?”
“I guess we are. So, what about your script?”
“I hate it.” Ohno sighs. “Not all of it, but there are some of these cheesy romance scenes that are rather ridiculous.”
“Well, I could give you a hand there,” Sho suggests randomly, stretching tiredly. “It’s not like I have much to do recently.”
Ohno eyes him in suspicion. “Who are you kidding? You’ve plenty to do, Sho-kun.”
Sho can feel the other’s doubts clearly. Of course he would feel surprised by such a weird suggestion, especially when it’s coming from Sho. However Sho’s made up his mind, and once he decides to do something, hardly anything can stop him from doing so. “I need a little change in my schedule,” he explains to his friend warily. “A little distraction, you know? I’ve a lot of work at the moment, we all have, but hanging out with my friends should still have at least a little priority.”
“I see.” Ohno nods his head. “It’s not like I need help with the script.” He chuckles lightly. “But a bit of company won’t do any harm.”
***
Sho brings along some of the leftovers from yesterday’s dinner with his parents. He has to smile slightly when he sees the amazed look in Ohno’s eyes. “Wow, your mother is a great cook.”
“Thanks.” Sho grins. “I’ll tell the maid that you liked it.”
The other grins. “I see. Then, tell her thanks for cooking this.”
Sho watches Ohno while he prepares something to drink for them. It feels almost casual, like they do this every day. Like it’s normal for Sho to drop by, basically forcing his way into Ohno’s life with this stupid script-practice excuse and hang out with him. Thinking about the script brings him back on track. “Did you already look at your script?”
“Yes.” Ohno angles for the papers lying on the sofa table and throws them into Sho’s direction.
The latter catches it with skilled fingers, however, a few sheets drop on the ground. “Oh, now the correct order of the pages is messed up.”
“Don’t worry.” Ohno smirks. “Believe me, it doesn’t matter much.”
“I see.” Sho grins. “Back to being sarcastic. What is it about?”
“Well, you see, Keisuke and Machiko are childhood friends, and they spend every day together. When they grow older, they fall in love, but their families disapprove, so Keisuke moves away and goes to college. Machiko waits for him to come back, but when he doesn’t, she gets engaged to another guy. That’s when Keisuke finds out that he is sick and might not live for long. He comes back to Machiko mainly to settle everything between them, hides his sickness from her… and is shocked that she is getting married. She acts cold towards him – naturally – and he thinks he has lost every chance to get back together with her. Well… that’s the basic plot.”
“I see; doesn’t sound too bad. Romance drama plot 101.”
The next two hours they spend going through the script, both of them giggling and laughing at some of the cheesy lines. However Sho can’t help but feel disappointed when he reaches the end. “What!? Where’s the rest of it? I mean, they just met and this other dude is telling Machiko all kind of lies about Keisuke. And she believes him. But then she sees Keisuke all alone at the beach and suddenly remembers her old feelings for him. Damn, why does it stop here?”
“Don’t worry, Sho-kun.” Ohno smiles. “This is the script up to episode three. I’ll get episodes four through six next week. Then you will know how the story continues.”
Sho only remotely realizes the teasing tone in Ohno’s voice. He doesn’t care all that much. So what? Now Ohno knows that he loves cheesy and dramatic love stories! It’s not like the world is going to end because of that. “Okay, keep it to yourself, but I’ll admit it, I love this kind of stuff.”
“I kind of guessed that already.”
“I also like overdramatic soaps and romance movies.” Sho smiles warily. “Pretty pathetic, isn’t it?”
“Not really,” Ohno pats the other’s shoulder soothingly. “Don’t forget who you’re talking to. Everyone thinks I like fish more than humans. And did you know that Aiba loves splatter horror movies?”
“You are kidding me!? Aiba-chan!?”
“Yes.” Ohno giggles. “The last time Jun and I watched a movie with him, the both of us almost threw up, while Aiba kept chewing on his popcorn happily. Because, believe it or not, I hate the sight of blood. You see, I’m a wimp too.”
Sho laughs at that. “You are not a wimp, you’re a good guy.” He drops down on the carpet next to Ohno. It feels strangely comfortable there, although he is not the type who lies on the floor normally. But Ohno’s carpet is fluffy and thick and more like a mattress than anything else.

“So, how’s it going between you and Riida?” Nino wraps his arms around his own hips, making kissing noises that set Sho off immediately. The latter frowns, feeling like he was in Junior High again.
“Very mature, Nino. Riida and I are just hanging out and going through his script.”
Aiba puts his newspaper aside, the one Jun had ordered for him, so that he would stay up to date. A while ago Aiba had told them that it wouldn’t do him any harm to actually know what’s going on in the world. He felt a bit tired of always being the naïve one. “Really, nothing happened!? Maybe we should help you and set you up?”
“NO!” Sho looks at his friends in immediate concern. “Don’t even dare to. Meddling with someone else’s relationship is always a bad thing and it would be a disaster if it backfired. You don’t want that, do you?”
“I guess we don’t,” Nino agrees warily, sounding almost disappointed that he can’t play Cupid. “Fine, but get things going Sho-kun. Don’t miss the right timing.”
Sho licks over his lips nervously. “How will I know what the right timing is?” he asks, almost timidly.
“Why don’t you ask Jun? Romance and dating seem to be his forte.” Aiba suggests. “Besides, he hangs out with Riida quite a lot. He might know something about the right timing. Let’s face it, he is the best when it comes to such questions.”
“Hey,” Nino argues. “What about me? I’m good with those things too!”
“Yes.” Aiba grins. “But people always jump you, no matter what you say or do. You just have this slightly pervy erotic aura. You don’t need the right timing.”
“Sounds quite accurate.” Nino nods his head contently, apparently very pleased with how Aiba just described him as a pervy sex-god. “If you put it like that, it sounds good. So, go and ask Jun, Sho-kun.”
“Not sure if I should.” Sho blushes slightly. “I think he is still mad at me, because of the way I tricked him the last time.”
Nino snickers. “You mean, because you lied to him?.”
“I guess it depends on the way you look at it,” Sho muses.
“So he’s still pissed?” Aiba wants to know, looking at Nino expectantly. “Nino-chan you are having sex with him on a regularly basis. So, tell us.”
Nino shrugs randomly. “Let’s put it like that: The last time I mentioned your name, which was yesterday, he went jogging for two hours. It was quite annoying, because we were actually getting into the mood to become intimate. But, well.” He throws a teasing glance towards Sho. “I guess it depends on the way you look at it. However, Aiba-chan is right. If you want any good advice, you will definitely have to go to Jun.”
“Great,” Sho drops down on the sofa exasperatedly. “I’m doomed.”
***
“Oh my god,” Sho breathes out. “Machiko finds the letter! Please don’t let her believe it… it’s not from Keisuke, but from Ren, this jerk she is engaged too.”
“Yes, this guy is pretty low,” Ohno agrees. “But I’m pretty sure it’ll work out fine…”
Sho doesn’t answer him; he keeps reading the script until he reaches episode five and breathes out in relief. “She found out the truth and broke up with Ren. Finally!”
“See?” Ohno hands Sho a glass with whisky. “Told you it would turn out alright.”
Sho accepts the drink happily, taking a sip from it. His eyes widened when the liquid burns down his throat. “Oh dear, I think I’m already drunk! What’s your plan? Get me drunk so that I’ll go to bed with you?”
“Oh.” Ohno smiles slightly. “I don’t think a trick like that is necessary.”
Sho frowns at that, feeling almost nervous. What did Ohno mean? Is it so obvious that he actually has a crush on Ohno? Or did Jun or Nino say something to him? Or… did he mean something completely different? It’s Ohno after all… one never knows. Sho decides it’s better not to ask anything, instead he shifts the topic into another direction… Machiko and Keisuke’s chance to get together again.
***
“Hello, I was in the area and decided to drop by.” Sho is trying to smile his most convincing and shining smile. Unfortunately it doesn’t seem to work on Jun, because the latter grunts something and only let’s Sho into his apartment with visible reluctance.
“What do you want?” he asks nonchalantly, throwing Sho an icy glance.
The latter sighs slightly. “Can we talk, please?”
“Uh, yes, I’m dying in excitement.”
Sho wonders if this really is a good idea after all. He and Jun normally settle in for not talking about their problems with each other and just stay silent, until one of them forgets about it and they can move on, without actually solving it. It has worked like that for years, starting with the day when they just debuted and Sho yelled at Jun. A lot of smaller and bigger fights came after that. Sho knows that it’s not the best way to handle their friendship, though it’s the most comfortable way. But he has to admit that maybe he’s been doing it wrong all this time and it would have been a lot better to learn how to talk to Jun years ago. However, now seems to be the perfect time to change that. Drastic situations need drastic actions. “I’m sorry.”
“What?” Jun blinks in surprise.
“I said I’m sorry,” Sho repeats his words, realizing that this might be the first time one of them actually apologized to the other. “I’m not good at handling any tension.”
“Well.” Jun shifts around nervously. “It’s not like I was nice to you all the time.”
“No.” Sho chuckles. “You can be pretty snarky. Let’s face it, I’ve no chance against you when you are mad or annoyed.”
“Well.” Jun snorts dryly. “I learned from the best.”
“I wished you would have learned something better from me than being mean,” Sho admits. “Like, making cupcakes for example. Or like some sense for humour.”
“I learned how to have some sense of humour from Nino.” Jun points out. “And as far as I’m concerned you’ve never made cupcakes.”
“These were just examples,” Sho argues. “Not real suggestions.”
“I know,” Jun sighs. “Cut it, Sho-kun. We are not that messed up. We might piss each other off sometimes, but after all, when there is a problem, you are the first I talk to. I guess I kinda like you.”
“Yes.” Sho grins. “I guess I kinda like you too.” He pauses, looking at Jun helplessly. “So, since we’ve got the old team back, could you give me a little advice?”
“Yes, I can: Go for it.”
“Eh?”
“I’m pretty sure Riida is well aware of your little crush on him. I personally think he is not reluctant about the idea either. So, instead of beating around the bush, I would just go for it.”
Sho looks at Jun warily. “But how?”
“Didn’t Nino already suggest it once?” Jun chuckles. “Practice the script. After all there is a kissing scene coming up. If you approach this correctly, it won’t be too embarrassing if he dumps you. If you both want it, it’s the perfect opportunity to finally get things going. There is no such thing as the right timing, Sho-kun, it’s just an excuse people make to run away and chicken out.”
“Yes.” Sho nods his head, deep furrows on his forehead. “Maybe you’re right…”
***
“Now that Machiko knows that Keisuke is ill, I wonder what they’ll do.” Sho sighs, lying down on his back, holding the script against his chest. “It’s such a sad story.”
Ohno nods his head, lying down on his stomach. Then he pushes himself up and rests his chin against his hand, eyeing Sho. “Yes, I guess it really is sad.”
“I wonder what we should do once the script is finished.”
Ohno smiles slightly. “Well, I’m sure one of us will have a new script soon. Or we can borrow one from the others.”
Sho laughs lightly. “Yes, we could do that.” He rolls over, lying on his stomach too now, his shoulder touching Ohno’s. “So, how’s the story continuing?”
“They decide to stay together,” Ohno explains. “Machiko, even though she knows the truth and that their time together is limited, doesn’t want to let another chance slip. And Keisuke, who actually wanted her to be happy with someone else, can’t let go of her either.”
Sho nods his head contently. “Sounds like a good ending. Do they kiss?”
“Eh?” Ohno blinks, blushing a bit. Adorable, Sho thinks, he is so adorable when embarrassed. “Yes, they do.”
“Nervous?”
“Well, it’s my first on-screen kiss, so it feels a bit awkward. I wish they hadn’t added a kissing scene at all.”
“Oh.” Sho nods his head, remembering Jun’s words and his advice. “I could help with that.”
“How?” the older one wants to know, eyeing Sho skeptically.
“Well.” Sho slips closer to Ohno, so that their faces are almost touching. “How about you practice with me. I’m willing to help you.”
For a moment Ohno is silent then he suddenly starts laughing, much to Sho’s surprise and annoyance. “What’s so funny!?”
“Sorry, Sho,” Ohno grins and drops all formalities at once. “I think I’ve never met someone who has seduced me like you did in the last month. I have to pay you my respects, because you definitely were persistent.”
“I was?” Sho asks warily, not sure if it’s a good thing or a bad one.
“Yes.”
“So…” Sho’s voice is breaking slightly and he hates that it is, because it’s showing his freaking insecurity. “Did it work?”
“Oh dear.” Ohno smiles. “You could have gone through a lot less trouble.”
“For real? Why the hell didn’t you say anything!?”
“Because it was nice to be with you,” the other explains. “And it was fun to see you trying. You’re a cool guy, Sho. It’s okay.” Ohno turns around so that he is leaning against Sho’s body. Sho doesn’t need any longer to take this invitation, instead he surges forward, kissing Ohno with all he has. He’s waited for this since forever.
When they draw apart, Sho smiles happily. “I’ll tell you a secret, I really planned all of this to get close to you.”
“I know.” Ohno smiles softly. “I’ll tell you a secret too. I couldn’t have done it without Nino, Jun and Aiba’s help though. It was Nino’s brilliant idea to begin with.”
“What do you mean?”
“I’m not playing in a romance drama.”
Sho is stunned, literally, he isn’t able to move properly anymore. What the hell? So… which one of them chose a pathetic trick to seduce the other? He has no idea who would be the winner, but when Ohno kisses him again, he figures, he doesn’t need to know.
In some weird sense, they both won.
A/N: You know... I have this weird image in my mind now, with Jun writing the script (of the alleged drama and the 'play' starring Sho and Ohno), Nino directed the scenes (and manipulated Sho) and Aiba was responsible for styling and make-up (so that Sho looks his best :D)
