Title: Vacation
Pairing/Group: Juntoshi
Rating: PG-13
Genre: romance
Summary: Ohno messes up and realizes that if he wants to keep Jun at his side, he needs to change how he handles their relationship.
Notes: Written for Jun's birthday ♥ A story dedicated to my ichiban. I didn't know if I should write Sakumoto or Juntoshi, but figuring that there is less Juntoshi around, I'm posting a Juntoshi story. I want to write a Sakumoto one too though. :-)

“Hey Jun-kun.” Ohno eyes his lover’s figure at the sofa. “We need to talk.” Unfortunately, though not unexpected, he doesn’t receive an answer. Jun has his earplugs in his ears and Ohno can see how he increases the volume. Ohno isn’t ready to give up though, he comes closer and pokes Jun’s shoulder.

Jun sighs and removes one of the earplugs. “Yes?” he asks like he hasn’t heard him the first time already.

“Is it going to be like this between us from now on?” Ohno asks calmly.

Jun throws him an icy glare. “Don’t turn this here into my mistake now, Ohno-san!” he says with emphasis. He is serious, Ohno knows he is by the way his voice sounds straid and his eyebrows are furrowed, and because he addresses him by his full name and so formally.

He is actually right. It’s not his fault.

48 hours ago

Ohno skilfully ducks away from a cup flying towards his direction. “I liked that one,” he muses as he eyes the shards on the floor. It was a cute blue cup, with white clouds on it. “Can’t you take the ugly ones the agency gave us? I would really like to see them gone.” It was meant as a joke to light up the atmosphere, but a glance towards Jun tells him that he failed miserably.

Apparently his approach wasn’t only slightly off, but actually really bad as Jun’s eyes glint in sudden anger. “Are you fucking serious now?”

For a moment, he believes that Jun is going to throw yet another cup at him. But to his surprise the latter just shakes his head, puts the weird banana-shaped cup away, and retreats to the living room.

Not a good sign. Ohno braces himself inwardly before following Jun a few minutes later. Jun apparently has completely changed his approach as he is now bent over some documents and working on their new tour.

“You are seriously working now!?” Ohno asks in disbelief.

“Why are you surprised? It’s not like I have anything planned this weekend,” Jun answers, his voice bitingly sarcastic.

“Okay, I know, I deserve your anger,” Ohno admits. “I really do, and I’m ready to take it all. But I don’t want you to dive into work on your free weekend.”

“Oh, a free weekend?” Jun smiles dangerously. “Like, for example, a weekend I wanted to spend with you as it was planned for two fucking months. And you just forgot!?”

 Okay, it is some serious shit, he has to admit that. And it doesn’t feel good to see that expression on Jun’s face. Not at all. “I know, I’m sorry I forgot!” He smiles nervously.  “Please forgive me, Jun. Please.”

Jun doesn’t talk anymore though, just closes his laptop and stomps into their bathroom. He closes the door behind him, and it makes Ohno’s heart sting a bit. He knew he wasn’t invited, but having the door closed and locked right in front of him means a little more than simply not being invited.

~~~
He has bribed Nino to go to dinner with him, which means he has basically only needed to invite him out. “You have forgotten that you wanted to go on a vacation with J?” Nino’s eyes widen. He grins. “Just be glad I’m not your boyfriend. I would probably deprive you from sex for like half a year and make you pay for everything I want!”
“Yeah,” Ohno bites out. “Guess I’m lucky that Jun just doesn’t talk to me.”
“Hey, don’t take it out on me.” Nino frowns. “It’s not a stunt I pulled. You did.”
“Sorry,” Ohno sighs and orders sake for them. “Just what am I going to do now?”
“Listen.” Nino shakes his head in obvious disbelief. “Jun is your partner. You messed up and did something stupid, but it’s not something that will break you up. So instead of whining and drowning in self-pity how about you actually think about how to make it up to him again?”
Their sake arrives, and Ohno has time to think about Nino’s words. It’s probably exactly the scolding he needed. He chuckles slightly. “I’m such a failure as a boyfriend,” he muses. “I tend to forget dates and anniversaries and stuff like that.”
“And J is still together with you?” Nino teases.
“I think he doesn’t expect me to remember,” Ohno pouts. “That’s pretty bad too. Is it the kind of image I give? The dude that would forget his lover’s birthday?”
“Yes,” Nino says heartlessly. “It’s exactly the image you give off.”
Following this statement Ohno just has to order another few shots with sake to basically numb the pain down. “But I do care,” he defends himself.
“That might be true,” Nino points out mercilessly. “But saying you care is not enough, sometimes you have to show that you care and remember things. I told you, be glad that you aren’t my lover. I wouldn’t accept any slacking off from you. I would kick your butt and make you carry me on your hands.”
“Yes, that’s exactly the image you give off,” Ohno answers dryly, finally smiling a bit when Nino throws a tomato at him
They both chuckle, before Nino gets serious again. “You are J’s weakness, Oh-can. So, the fact that he is so mad at you that he won’t even talk to you, is probably pretty serious.” He smiles. “But it also means he’ll forgive you easily, when you come up with something well thought. As I said you are his biggest weakness, and he admires everything about you.”
~~~

Nino’s words ring in his ears. He really tends to forget all the important stuff. Well, Jun always reassured him that this and that isn’t important for him, that the thought counts, but isn’t he actually a romantic deep inside? Something inside Ohno twitches. When Jun cooked a particularly good dinner, just smiling happily when Ohno enjoyed it, what did he actually want to say with it? It was probably an important date he forgot, wasn’t it? Or Jun’s feelings he wanted to show at that moment.

When Ohno gets home, Jun is already asleep. He takes this moment to grab his calendar and a sheet of paper, writing down all the important dates first. The date they got together, their first kiss, first time, Jun’s birthday and alike. The day before Jun’s birthday marks the day of their first official date.

“Let’s go for a thing,” Ohno said back then.

“A thing?” Jun blinked.

“Yes, you know eat something nice, drink some wine, talk,” Ohno explained, feeling like an idiot. “A thing”

Jun blinked in surprise. “You mean a date?”

“After all we kissed,” Ohno pointed out, grabbing his bag.

“But you were drunk that day. Sure you want to start dating?” Jun asked, eyes wide-opened. There was a look in them Ohno hadn’t seen before.

He smiled nervously. “I’ve wanted to go out with you and kiss you since a long time already.”

Jun looked at him in surprise for a while, then he smiled happily. “Fine,” he giggled. “Let’s go on a thing.”

~~~
When Jun comes home a few days later, having worked a few extra hours to plan their up-coming dome-tour, he almost drops out of the door again. Ohno smiles slightly when he sees his surprised expression.
Jun wavers, so obviously that Ohno decides to take a risk and give him a little push. “Jun,” he says softly. “No matter how mad you are, at one point you need to talk to me again.”
Jun sighs, but apparently Ohno’s approach works. “Did you cook all that?” he asks and drops his bag at the corridor.
Ohno shakes his head, smiling sheepishly. “Forgive me, I tried to – already last week, but it was horrible. So I set a specific deal with our favourite restaurant and let them prepare something for us. Exclusively.” He points at a plate with shrimp croquettes. “Try one of them.”
Jun does, takes a closer look and tries one of them. “I like them”, he says quietly. “Curcuma?”
Ohno chuckles. “Saffron.”
“That’s truly exclusive,” Jun admits, and Ohno knows that his offer of peace was at least somewhat successful.
“So, what do you say?” he asks carefully.
Jun wavers, obviously, but then he lets out a sigh. “Guess I have to start talking to you again at one point,” he admits. “Give me a few minutes to change, then I’m back.”
~~~

Jun takes more than a few minutes. Of course. It’s just normal, so normal that Ohno has to smile. When Jun finally comes back, he is dressed in casual black jeans and a white tank top, and looks so hot that Ohno has to swallow nervously.

“Jun,” he says quietly.

“Let’s eat first,” Jun says, and it’s obvious in his voice that there is no discussing it now. So Ohno follows his wish. He can be patient when he wants to, it’s one of his strengths, and he is already relieved enough that Jun actually joined him.

Throughout the delicious dinner Jun’s cheeks get some colour of joy. He gets more talkative, and admires some of the dishes, and even urges Ohno to try some of the more unusual things that Ohno feels wary about.

It takes them over two hours to eat, and clean the dishes. Then Ohno fetches two glasses and fills them with wine. He takes Jun’s hand and rubs it soothingly. “Come,” he says and points at the living room. He has the two glasses in his other hand, while he holds Jun’s hand until they sit down.

Jun takes a sip from the offered wine and sighs. “You are not playing fair.”

Ohno smiles warily. “Actually I’m not playing at all right now.” Apparently it’s the perfect answer because Jun’s eyes widen for a moment. Then he nods. “You look tired,” Ohno continues, checking Jun’s face. “You are overworking yourself, and I don’t like that.”

Jun stays silent for quite a while then he lets out an exasperated sigh. “How could you actually forget a trip and tickets we booked?” he wants to know, ignoring Ohno’s previous words. “Seriously, Satoshi-kun, do you even know the next time we’ll have a free weekend together? It’s not going to happen any time soon. So don’t give me an earful about overworking myself when you were the one who let me wait at the airport.”

Something inside Ohno’s chest twists painfully. He wraps his arms around Jun’s waist from the side and nuzzles against his neck. “I’m sorry Jun, really sorry. I can’t even believe it myself that I was so out of it and forgot and messed this up. I’m actually really really mad at myself, and I know there is no real excuse for it. Can’t we change the tickets and fly on another date?”

“No,” Jun says in a grumpy voice. “I’m not in the mood anymore.”

Ohno smiles carefully, resting his chin on Jun’s head. Grumpy Jun is actually not a bad sign at all, especially in comparison to silent Jun. He is just too proud to let it go – nothing Ohno can’t deal with. “How about I’ll organise the tickets and I’ll discuss with our managers. I swear I’ll get us a free weekend.  And then we take the car or the plane and drive to a beautiful place.” Ohno hums. “We can do whatever you want once we arrive at our destination.”

“Are you sure?” Jun shows him a sceptical glance. “What if I want to go shopping?”

“I’ll go with you.”

Jun turns around to face him now. “You won’t want to go fishing?”

“No.”

“And you won’t complain?”

Ohno chuckles. “Not even once. Please give me a chance. I’ll make up to you big time.”

Jun lets out a deep sigh, for a moment looking uncomfortably tired, so Ohno hugs him even tighter. Jun’s resistance obviously crumbles. “You are such an idiot, and I’m really pissed this time,” he mumbles, but his fingers still touch Ohno’s arm softly. “But… okay. Guess I’m too much under your spell. Well then, let’s see if you get that free weekend…”

He will. In fact he already has, but Jun doesn’t need to know that yet.

~~~
Jun’s pride is probably his biggest obstacle sometimes. Ohno knows it, Jun knows it, but they both know he is like he is, and sometimes he can’t work around his pride. That’s what Ohno is there for. He stays calm, and composed and loving, and patient, and at one point Jun will come around to him again.
After making the first step he knows that it will happen this time too. Still, for once, Ohno decides instead of waiting patiently and being just there, he wants to do something. For once he wants to be the partner that actually does something, and sees things, be attentive.
It’s a hassle though to make so many calls, and to organize things, and he is thankful that Jun does that normally. He feels a bit guilty for dumping all the work on Jun, but he knows that Jun likes to do it, and he loves organizing and planning, his talent for this particularly shining during their concerts. But this time Ohno only wants to rely on himself not on Jun. He needs to be the one who plans it, he needs to make it a success and surprise Jun.
During the next days he keeps cuddling Jun, and is nice and supportive towards him, even when he is in one of his cranky moods, because Jun looks tired and drained from work, and it’s Ohno’s job to keep him from falling. No matter if they are completely alright or not, it’s his responsibility to keep Jun in one piece.
Jun warms up again, and on a rainy Friday night when he comes back home, looking more tired than the day before, Ohno has prepared warm ramen for him. All fresh made with good vegetables and healthy herbs. They eat together, and cuddle in front of the TV. And finally Jun hugs Ohno back tightly. “You don’t need to be so sweet towards me,” he whispers.
Ohno brushes through Jun’s hair, and rubs over his back. “But I want to.”
“It’s okay,” Jun mumbles into Ohno’s neck. “Everyone can forget something occasionally, even if it’s something so big like a trip. Let’s forget it. You are always so kind to me, almost too kind. My personal safety net.”
Ohno presses his lips against Jun’s temples. “My kind and soft-hearted Jun-san. I’m not too kind to you.” He chuckles weakly. “Sometimes I feel like a failure as a partner.”
“You are not,” Jun answers quietly but firmly. “Don’t ever say that. I’m the only one who is allowed to insult you. So, if anything, I am allowed to say you are a shitty partner.”
Ohno smiles slightly. “So, what do you think? Am I a horrible partner?”
“No, you aren’t.” Jun lets Ohno hug him tighter. Their limbs entangled while they snuggle against the sofa. “But for my birthday you better buy me an awesome gift.”
The last part makes Ohno chuckle.
~~~

They have celebrated Jun’s birthday as well as they could in the middle of the concerts, but Ohno bought him expensive jewellery and made a picture for him as a personal gift, plus added a generous shopping coupon on top of that. The presents alone made Jun already almost faint in surprise, apparently he didn’t expect him to choose his gifts so carefully. Ohno is both a little proud at making Jun so happy about his presents, and a little shocked that apparently he really didn’t pay a lot of attention before.

They had dinner in a fancy restaurant, and emptied a bottle of the best wine they could find. At the end of the day Jun looked really happy. However, secretly Ohno has another plan, and it’s already progressing.

He is going to woo Jun, he swears he will!

~~~
It’s when their tour is finally over, and all their preparations afterwards done, that Jun comes home tired and exhausted. Ohno knows that face from him, it’s when everything for a concert is finally done, every single concert date held, and the adrenaline and endorphin rush from live performances are over, and only the tiredness remains, and the emptiness after being on stage and working every second. He knows Jun holds it together and feels fulfilled when he is in the middle of preparations, in the middle of concerts. He is exhausted then, but it’s a different kind of exhaustion, a fulfilling one. It’s like after they try something less-vanilla and more hardcore in bed… he is tired then, but happy.
When these days are over though, and they go into their well-deserved vacations and free days, and breaks, the emptiness comes crushing down on him all of a sudden. It’s like this for all of them, but he assumes that it’s the worst for Jun for being so involved in their planning and organisations.
Ohno is there then to just hug him and to be there, to stop him from falling. And after a few days it’s okay again, and Jun is back to his normal self.
This time though Ohno has more specific plans. And on this certain Saturday, when Jun comes back home, he has barely made it into their apartment, when Ohno hugs him out of the blue, laughing when Jun complains, scolds and giggles at the surprise attack.
He lets go. “Here,” he says casually, and hands Jun a sheet paper. “I know you won’t let me pack your stuff. And to be honest, I don’t want to. Too risky.” He chuckles. “But please do so now. We are leaving in three hours.”
“We are leaving?” Jun blinks in surprise, only recovering slowly. He frowns while he eyes the sheet of paper. “But-“
“No buts,” Ohno intervenes and shoves his lover towards their bedroom and his wardrobe. “Pack. I’m finished since hours already.”
Jun throws him a glare. “You knew about this after all, so no need to boast or scold me.”
Ohno smiles, and wraps his arms around Jun from behind. “Just let yourself fall, for once, and don’t question it.”
Jun’s lips tug nervously, but then he nods, and without further ado and questions he takes a few clothes out of his wardrobe.  Ohno wisely takes a step back and doesn’t interfere with his packing, he also stays away from the kitchen, as he knows Jun might probably want to prepare something for them.
Ohno is in the middle of painting a new picture when Jun peaks into his atelier. “Plane or car?” he asks.
“Plane,” Ohno answers swiftly.
Jun nods and disappears again. Then he doesn’t see him for another two hours. He is finished in time though, much to Ohno’s surprise, and he looks so exhausted from the hustle of packing that Ohno has to chuckle. He makes a swift call for their taxi to pick them up, then he approaches Jun who is sitting on his suitcase, looking almost nervous. “Hey, you,” Ohno says softly, and takes Jun’s face between his hands before he plants a soft kiss on his lips. “Everything alright?”
“Hm,” Jun answers warily. “This better be good.”
“It will,” Ohno promises, before he adds a careful… “I hope so.”
Jun chuckles at his wary expression. His amused expression turns into an expecting one, and then to a curious one when they arrive at the airport, and Ohno manoeuvres him skilfully through the gates so that Jun won’t even have an idea where they are going to.
He goes even so far to cover his ears when they are in their first class private jet and the pilot takes off and welcomes them on their flight to their secret destination.
“You are not taking me hiking or worse… camping, are you?” Jun jokes. “Or fishing.”
Ohno grins. “Didn’t know this was an option!”
“It is not,” Jun says with emphasis, and Ohno laughs.
~~~

Three coffees, two daiquiris and a huge dinner later they slowly approach their destination. Jun is wrapped in a blanket, dozes a bit, and Ohno secretly angles for his hands under it. When Jun squeezes it, Ohno smiles contently. “We are arriving,” he whispers.

Jun blinks the sleep out of his eyes. “I know,” he mumbles tiredly. “God, do I wish to be in my bed now.”

“Soon,” Ohno promises, feeling drained as well, but the anticipation outweighs the tiredness. It takes a while for Jun to understand though, because when they get off from the private jet, a car picks them up and drives them to their destination.

Jun blinks in confusion after a while, eyeing the huge white beaches they pass with the turquoise coloured ocean. There is basically no one around. “Satoshi-san,” he asks, sounding awake again. “Where are we!?”

“I’m just abducting you,” Ohno teases, and Jun smiles. “Patient, Jun-kun, give me a little longer.”

Jun nods, probably because he is tired and confused, and overwhelmed. Ohno smiles inwardly. He is relieved the little island looks so beautiful and tidy. The driver lets them get out in front of a beautiful villa, close to the ocean. “I’ll be living in the guesthouse during your stay,” he says to Ohno, smiling brightly. “Have a nice vacation, sir.”

Jun watches the exchange in awe. “Who is that?” he wants to know.

“It’s someone from the main islands. A friend of a friend, you could say. He is looking after houses and beaches while the owners are away.”

“Owners?” Jun blinks.

Ohno grins, feeling proud like never before for having such an idea. He takes Jun’s hand.

“In public?” Jun asks in confusion. “You are holding my hand in public?”

“Yes,” Ohno smiles a hopefully mysterious smile. “But it’s not really public,” he adds. “And now come with me.” He tugs his partner along, makes him drop his bags at the terrace before he leads him to the beach in front of their house. The sand is white like the moon, and the water so turquoise that Ohno can’t wait to swim (and maybe even fish – if Jun allows him to, but he is sure he will) there. There are palm trees marking the end of the beach and leading towards the inner part of the island with small forests and a tiny lake. The island itself is tiny, and by the way Jun spins around, he probably realized that it will only take them an hour to cross it, and that there is no one around.

“Satoshi,” he mumbles. “Where are we?”

“Fiji.” Satoshi smiles, and takes a deep breath. “Jun, this is your real birthday present. And a thank you, that although I keep forgetting everything and each and every date that it’s important to you, although I’m living in my own world sometimes, and never tell you what you mean to me, you stick with me. I wanted to finally say it to you. You are everything to me. I love you, and this is my thank you that you kept up with me the whole time.”

“Wait a moment,” Jun stutters. “A present? Did you seriously…”

“Yes,” Ohno chirps.

“You bought me an island!?” Jun breaths out. “A whole island!”

“It’s a tiny one,” Ohno points out. “I’m sorry I had to choose something in my budget.”

“Sh,” Jun says. “Don’t talk it down!”

“So you like it?” Ohno smiles. “I thought I would give this to you, with a little ulterior motive of course. Because this could be the perfect place to retreat to for us.”

“Satoshi,” Jun mumbles, and his eye shimmer dangerously, he looks happy, and stunned and in completely disbelief. And Ohno almost fears he will get a nervous breakdown, but then he keeps it together and hugs Ohno tightly. “No one has ever done something so romantic and sweet to me,” he says, and his voice cracks slightly

“I told you,” Ohno smiles. “I had ulterior motives too.” He wraps his arms around Jun.  “Besides I did this for you to be happy, not to be sad.”

“I’m not sad, you idiot,” Jun grumbles under tears. “Read the mood!”

Ohno laughs. He sits down in the warm sand and pulls Jun down with him. “I saw that you marked a date in your calendar for this week. I really tried hard to reconstruct what it is… but I have no idea, really. It’s not our anniversary, right?

Jun blinks. “You really tried to get down to the dates.” He laughs all of a sudden, heartedly, and it sends a shiver down Ohno’s spine. “Satoshi-san, only I know these dates.”

Ohno blinks. “What kind of date is it?”

“The one when you asked me out for dinner for the first time. A real dinner. Not the thing you invited me to. That one is another date,” Jun says, and grabs his tiny pocket calendar. He can be old-fashioned sometimes, which is so cute. “Oh, and in two weeks, I’m planning to cook something nice for you. It’s the day we met each other for the very first time.”

Ohno looks into Jun’s calendar for a while. Then he grins. “You are weird too, Jun-kun. To imagine we call Sho the schedule maniac,” he teases. “But also cute. Give me these dates, will you?”

“Why?” Jun blinks. “I don’t expect you to remember these. I just have fun remembering and then cooking something nice for you while I do so, because it reminds me of all the good moments we shared.”

“Like the first time we had sex?” Ohno wants to know.

“For example.”

Ohno nods. “Exactly why I want to have it too.”

“Why?”

“The memories, Jun,” Ohno says softly while he lets Jun pull him into a hug. “It’s a book full of memories, and I want to share them with you.”

Jun nods. His eyes are gleaming, and he looks so happy like never before, and so fresh and young. This time Ohno knows for sure that he is the one who put this light into Jun’s eyes, and it’s the best feeling he has ever had in this life.

Before it gets too mushy though, and they will search for their bed to finally have sex, or sleep, depends on the stage of exhaustions, he decides to lighten the mood. “So… you know, we’ll be here for a week,” he says earnestly. “The water is beautiful, there are lots of interesting fish, edible if I may add so~”

Jun laughs full-heartedly and smacks him. “Fine,” he says with a bright smile. “Go fishing as much as you want, but…” he tugs him closer. “Keep some stamina while you do so~”

“Why’s that?” Ohno plays innocent.

Jun smiles. “I just want to show you how thankful I am for receiving the best present, and for having the best guy at my side.”

Ohno smirks. “Don’t say such things out loud,” he teases. “It might end up in you not being able to walk properly for days.”

“Really?” Jun raises an eyebrow. “Then you’ll be excited to see which little games and toys I packed in my special bag~ You better keep your promises.”

“Oh,” Ohno chuckles. “I will.”

Ooooooooooohhhhh... this is so sweet! First, the mental image of Ohno cuddling Jun while Jun is still a bit mad and not responding... And then when Jun finally hugs Ohno back. And then I never expected that Ohno will go so far to buy the island for Jun! Ohno can be so sweet if he really puts his heart to it. This is so amazing and so sweet and I just felt my heart swell with sweetness.

Thanks for this!

OMGeeeeeee!!! I saw this on the day you posted it dear but I couldn't leave a proper comment because I was too busy.
First of all, I would like you to know that I was just freaaaaaaaking happy when I saw this. On Jun's birthday, I was kind of emotional because nobody posted a Juntoshi fic. I even posted my "drama" on Facebook then after that, I refreshed the community's page and I saw this and you just don't know I almost jumped like a happy maniac in public! Hahahhhaah <3 <3 <3
Satoshi buying an island for Jun is just something that this guy is capable of doing. Sure thing that he wanted to make it up to Jun big time and I wasn't surprised that he succeed. I think even if he just did some pole dancing and threw some dramatic and loving words of apology, Jun would still melt and forgive him while patting his head. Awww that's cute but of course, this old man definitely has his other "ulterior motives",,, He bought an island also for the reason that after the sulking Jun, he would be more than willing to do anything that Satoshi tells him to do and surrender everything to him. Wahahhhahha I can hear Satoshi's silent evil laughter! Thank you so much dear! You just saved my sanity on Jun's birhday!
*hugs

I want someone who's willing to splurge for me like Ohno! He gave Jun an island?! Okay, maybe Jun being mad at Ohno had paid massively (even though Jun didn't ask for that XD) Ohno has that image of forgetting things right? lmao, poor Jun, he had prepared everything but he was stood up by his own boyfriend at the airport. I would be mad too if I were him.
I love everything about this fic. The way you write Ohno and Jun was so like them.
Thanks for writing!

*lol* lucky Satoshi that he found an island to buy, because grumpy Jun is for sure not so nice. :)

They are really cute together, and spending a week on an island which belongs to them - perfect for everything....adult-like :P

Thanks for sharing ❤

Jun is so into Ohno here. So compromised with their relationship! I am glad Ohno woke up and showed Jun how precious he was to him!
I love sweet JunToshi!
Thank you!!!
