Title: Advent calendar Door 15: Home-cooked dinner

Summary: Sho's parents visit, and this time Sho has to cook.

It has to be perfect. It just has to. It’s the first time Sho’s parents visit him and Jun, openly acknowledging that he and Jun are actually a couple, or whatever name his parents gave their relationship in their minds.
“It’s going to be alright,” Jun encourages him. It’s easy to say for him because his family has been very welcoming towards Sho. But still, Sho appreciates Jun being here and doing this together with him. Because this shit is probably as hard for him as it’s for Sho. As it’s his invitation and not Jun’s though, and also because Jun has to shoot for his dorama, it’s Sho who has prepared most of the dinner. Jun gave him advice over the phone and explained the recipe to him before, but damn it, Sho never felt that nervous before.
No one complains about the dinner though, everyone eats, no one spits the food out, no one demands a huge amount of water to spill the food down. His mother even takes a second plate.
Sho is still nervous, glad that Jun is here too. Because it wouldn’t be Jun if he wasn’t all charming and sweet towards his parents, basically luring his father into a conversation with an expensive red wine he purchased somewhere in Europe.
Meanwhile Sho almost spills his own glass of wine and nervously excuses himself to look after the soup. When he comes back the situation is still normal. Jun even smiles encouragingly at him.
The whole evening passes without anyone crying or yelling, his father doesn’t talk much but that was to be expected. His mother however is charming as always, so is Mai. And his brother has never been a problem anyways.
Still Sho is relieved when everything is over and his guests left. He lets out a sigh of relief once he is alone with Jun. They only need to do the dishes now, and then they can finally rest.

“It really tasted good.” He jumps a bit when he hears Jun behind him. Jun smiles. “It’s just me, don’t worry. They didn’t come back.”
Sho takes a shaky breath. “Was it really okay? I was scared the meat would be dry. The shrimp salad was only mediocre.”
“It was good,” Jun states. “I thought you would do horribly in the kitchen, but actually it’s not half that bad. I told your mother that this time you cooked, and she was basically speechless.”
“I just know the basics,” Sho mutters.
“No, really,” Jun smiles proudly. “You did so well.”
Sho blushes. “I took a class,” he admits.
“Is that so?” Jun asks in surprise, then he chuckles. He puts the towel away, sitting down on the kitchen table, and wrapping a leg around Sho’s hip to pull him closer. “Come, you awesome man.”
Sho is ready to jump Jun anytime, but his conscience makes him at least ask the obvious. “Don’t you mind the dirty dishes?”
And then Jun says the words Sho never believed he would hear him say. Because this is Jun, and Jun likes his kitchen cleaned up. Bending forward, biting into his earlobe softly, Jun whispers. “We can do them
tomorrow.”
