Jun is not going home after school. Well, actually he doesn’t have a real home but just a dormitory room, but still… the better home than when his father was still alive. But after classes, when he is free, he doesn’t have much awaiting him there. He can as well hang out here.

 

Here is the backyard of the school, a huge garden. Pretty deserted now as school and club activities are over for today. He has found out that the nice senpai – Satoshi – is in the art club. He is always smiling at Jun, talking to him, and to Jun's surprise apparently the other students followed his example, and he fit into his class faster than expected. Satoshi-senpai tries to encourage him to join the art club or any club, but really, Jun does not have any talents.

 

Sho-senpai is in the science club and organisation committee and the vice president, goes to cram school, and to tons of other classes. Jun is amazed by how smart he is and how he manages all of that. He also looks so cool, with his blonde hair, and the piercing. He has never seen someone looking so cool before! So edgy. Also his personality is edgy. He doesn’t talk much with Jun, he doesn’t talk much with anyone, but sometimes he would, and then Jun’s stomach feels like a bunch of butterflies are fluttering through it.

 

“Hey, you shrimp, you know this is my place?” he can hear an unknown voice behind him. It’s so sudden that Jun winces in surprise, and sits up so hastily that his head suddenly feels dizzy.

 

“Are you alright?” the voice says all of a sudden, while the person belonging to the voice kneels down next to Jun. “There is no reason to freak out immediately just because someone talks to you, you know little shrimp-kun?”

 

The guy that belongs to the voice has black hair, a pair of mischievous brown eyes, and looks even younger than Jun himself. Jun hasn’t seen him before, his uniform is from another school. “I’m sorry,” Jun stutters nervously. “I didn’t know this place was reserved.”

 

The guy blinks at him, sighing dramatically. “It’s called sarcasm,” he says, making Jun blink further. The guy rolls his eyes. “The place is not reserved, or does it have my name stick to it?”Jun blinks, looking around a bit to search for a sign with a name on it. The other guy sighs. “It does not belong to me. I’m just used to being here.” He pauses. “What’s your name?”

 

“Jun.” Jun looks up at the guy shyly. “You can sit down here as well. Or if you don’t want me to be here, I can leave and-“

 

“Nah, it’s okay,” the guy sits down. “I can make an exception for once.” He checks Jun from head to toe. “I’m Nino by the way. And you, little shrimp-kun, you need more self-confidence.”

 

Jun blushes. He is right. And it’s not the first time he has heard someone say this. However it’s the first time someone tells him so randomly. He almost expects this Nino guy to say more, but to his surprise he just starts playing on his Gameboy. Jun carefully takes his book up again, but as Nino doesn’t seem to mind, he continues sitting next to him and reads.
